    This reminds me of the BS jobs topic I've come across recently. The BS jobs are basically the jobs that give 0 productivity but are still paid for it. Some examples are security guards for empty rooms, and a greeter at a store. They provide nothing, and still get paid just so they can continue paying for the things they need.

    Our economic plan for the next 10 years should be MMT
    Our national obsession for the next 10-15 years is MMT economic system. Full employment

    Economic growth comes from the three P's - productivity, participation, population. The ALP government is only focused on one P....and it's not productivity.

    I think you have to be careful with productivity. The more productive the private sector the faster we use the earth’s resources and over produce. Climate change would ensue with increased productivity. We need some degrowth. An example is fast fashion. Fast fashion is really productive in creating clothing quickly, but it is terrible for the environment. I worry increasing productivity in most other industries would have the same catastrophic effects on climate.

    How do Human Service providers measure productivity?

    • @waynemcmillan5970
      @waynemcmillan5970 Місяць тому

      By effective outcome measures given the cost of resources used in the service program. You need clear outcome measurement goals.

      I agree about having outcome measures but unless the Productivity Commission changes its criteria, outcome measures of this sort of activity do not get included in Productivity measures.
      Productivity measures really only apply to production of widgets.
      The Service industry seemingly, then, does not get measured but are major employers in Australia.
      Productivity measures have to be reinvented to be useful

      @@piaggiok The Productivity Commission sadly is using an approach that reflects mainstream economics. Therefore they fail to understand the need for a new method to measure service industry productivity. You might not know it but mainstream economics is theoretically
      flawed, so the measures that they recommend are a sad reflection of reality.

    Breaking up the market would work...we just lack the Government with enough spine to do it.
    The Government caused all of this mess and it was all intentional.
