I remember b4 he actually came out that this man had a song called make me over again. That was that man plead unto God. Even then as young as I was I knew then that he was fighting against. That man was in a secretive battle. He couldn't go to the churches for help because all the church does is condemned and place people into hell. That's not fair and that's not God

You seem to have your facts wrong. It was always known he was gay. ALWAYS. YES make me over was a cry for help, but one thing about repentance is you must TURN FROM THAT SIN. He didn't want to turn from his sin. Church people don't have a heaven or hell to put anyone in. But church people (at least the real men and women of the living GOD) must teach and preach the word of God. We can't tiptoe around the TRUTH! He didn't want to line his life up with the word of God. Tonex has always been musically talented but let's not loose focus on that. Because Satan was, and is musically talented. He was over the music in heaven. I pray for Tonex, and his soul. But don't put his fall on the Church! That's just a blatant LIE FROM THE PITS OF HELL.
It's sad so many people couldn't listen to the message because he has admitted to something MANY people IN the church hide. We do not know if he has repented or not BUT what he is saying is truth. There is so much hate in the church and in the comments below. It is this kind of hate that make people leave the church and not want to know God. Before you tell someone to "Sit down" or "Stop Talking" ask yourself, would Jesus listen to them and have a conversation with them or judge them and not talk to them. I pray through Gods help, guidance, and love he is able to work through whatever internal struggles he may have and I pray everyone who has judged this man is able to see the beauty in him and pray for him as well. I am one of those people who grew up in church. I thought I was only person that felt this way about church. Thank you for this conversation.
Some folk make an idol out of their church experience, an idol out of their pastor, an idol of their own experience of God, an idol out of their christian walk. an idol out of their career(music or otherwise) and an idol out of the wisdom and understanding that ushers from their mouth..The Gospel (good news) of Jesus is the power of God for salvation for life towards God and service towards the body of Christ and love for God first, then others, and holiness (separation from the world, sin, the flesh and the devil with a whole lot of repentance and forgiveness and cleansing on the way. Aaaa how do you know God is Holy? How do you know if there is a heaven? You do realize that men wrote (the bible) what you find "truth in". The Bible is composed of 66 books by 40 different writers over 1500 years yeah RIGHT! when in actuality there are 81 books...Be careful! What you think you know because what you thought you knew, is not what you know!
No, it's not a buffet that you can pick and choose yet nearly every modern Christian I know is taking the Bible to their local country buffet. So many examples, but we can just start with how biblical patriarchy is not even REMOTELY close to our modern understanding of male/female relationships. It's incredible when I hear folks talk about the unchanging nature of God, transliterate their KJV into modern 21st century concepts. Anyone who's taken a foreign language will tell you that there are some things that translate poorly, now add 2000 years of societal difference. What's happening is that knowledge is no longer monopolized by a few. I encourage everyone to not just read the scriptures but to study it; study the entire context; study the entirety of the messages and attempt to understand the word and the oracle from which the word comes. I'm willing to bet many who claim they "know" spend more time watching Empire than their combined time committed studying the book they claim is the most important topic of their lives. Okay getting off my box.

Church is a place to receive from God and meet Him. That's the attitude that has kept me in church all this while. When God stops being the focus, personally, the spirit begins to die and grieve.
People better stay with Word of God. That's the only things that are going to stand. It's only the anointing that destroys the yokes.

The problem is people don't want real truth. They don't want to be held accountable for their sins and deal with their issues. They just want lullabies and water-downed messages. We as believers have to be honest and responsible for our own walk outside of the traditional church service. It's called a daily walk for a reason. Prayer, discernment, Holy Spirit, the Word, and a willing spirit to receive truth no matter how hard it is. This is why many young people won't go to a church because of the facades and Hollywood attitudes. It's sad.

I totally agree with what he's saying, I've been to over 50 churches in my life time, & still never felt that close with god, but when I left I felt closer to god, I start praying everyday, I saw the world for what it truly was, I started getting visions, and I started going to bible studies instead, I just felt better I mean everyone is different, some people need church.
I'll just pray for him. I won't say anything negative! Mehta I will say is that God has given this young man an amazing gift of music amid Im sad to see him NOT using them for God. I grew up listening to his music.

I don't believe in the bible but if it was a book actually based on people's encounters and relationships with god do you honestly believe that they could document every single person who has and what their life was like before, during and after their interaction with god? The bible we have today has been drastically cut from its original form and ordinary men decided what belonged and didn't belong in the good book. Do you trust those men? Do you know them? Are prepared to say that those men were ordained even though you have no idea what they were? My own research has led me not to put my faith and trust in the good book. It is a good and true saying. And that's why the true nature of God is initially foreign to us. Our flesh can't comprehend the things of the spirit. But God challenges us to taste and see how God He is. To leave a raggedy church doesn't mean you forsake a living God.

It so good to see that he still has a desire to know God. Thank you Jesus. There are many who have seen so much confusion and legalism and have been victims of abuse to the point it has made them totally renounce God and his entire existence. And it is necessary that they find God outside of that environment for a season because their view of God has been so intertwined with their view of the people in church that they have to have an one on one encounter with God like Paul on the Road to Damascus and to see God as he truly is, that he loves them and that he desires Good and not evil against them and that he is not like man.. It seems that he is on a journey to find God for himself outside of man. He is hurting and trying to find his way, let's keep him in prayer, he is so precious to God.

Why do believers or Christians walk in FEAR instead of FAITH. Who is the author of fear.....(serving to masters). Its easy to get religious or churchy to quote scriptures therfore not facing reality or there own struggles.... and yes Jesus Christ is Lord.

Idk I just feel like this is mockery of God and all the extra illustrated commentary is not necessary to make a point. I’m a new Christian beginning my walk with Christ and am an ex lesbian but I have gave up most of all my bad sins to walk this path and am still walking. This is just discouraging to people who want to grow close to him, to see people who boast and are content with their sin trying to lead us. I know this is an old video, but I think it's NOT about the music the church produces. It's the level of truth the church walks in. As a church dropout, I believe people are abandoning the faith because they're waking up and not blindly following people who regurgitate fallacies. I had to leave church to find God, too. I've learned so much about God and myself since leaving.

Some people are not praying to God to lead them to a proper bible believing church. They look for there desires to be met rather than looking for Gods truth. There are biblical churches. But most of them are teaching false doctrines. Got to get your foundations straight! Then no body can fool you black people always follow they feelings that's a no no. MyTtime wait...let's be honest. a building with imperfect people in it is not going to get you to haven either. The issue with church is our churches are not teaching relationship with God. Churches are teaching religion (doing same reglious ceremony over and over). Imagine if all your pastor's sins were on the internet. Would you still follow your pastor?

This conversation between B Slade (Tonex) and Darlene McCoy was so thought-provoking! It really got a lot of people in the comments section "turnt up! LOL! What stands out for me, though, is his honesty, and sincerity regarding the local church and its affect on its attendees. So much has happened down through the years to challenge the church in being more cognizant of its approach to true ministry. We can no longer pretend or hide before the world in our beautiful cathedrals and saintly apparel. They see us, because we show ourselves to them daily. However, they are looking for authenticity in our message AND in our lives. Unfortunately, we (yes, I include myself) do not always represent this well. As a result, many have lost hope, faith and their pursuit of truth which can only be found in Jesus. This interview makes me want to be a better representation of the God who lives within me, and of the love He shows to us all. There is no doubt in my mind that this young man loves God and is in pursuit of God's truth for his life. Shouldn't we all be doing this daily? It takes a lot to be honest with yourself (whew!), and then with God. B Slade has taken the time to do this, and I believe God honors this, and will show Himself to him as he continues to seek Him. God wants us ALL to KNOW Him!

I was going to come on here and rant, but its enough mature saved people who will come to the defense of what the Word of God says that I need'nt repeat what has already been so well said. Thank you Holy people of God Washed in the Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ for being of a variety of different statures and seasons in our sanctification but still being able to detect leaven when you see it.

Robert Andrews What is the real truth? This is the type of stuff that bothers me. No one perfect. The real difference between him and me (and you) is...His imperfections have be made public. To their point, the church pretends to be perfect and condemds anyone who publicly has shown their imperfections. If we are honest with ourselves we can truly start loving people as God has taught us to. Without judgement and with understanding that although imperfect, everyone has the Love of the father.

Sin I already JUDGED...so those who carry the gospel must preach under the anointing of God because man's heart cannot be convicted of the sin they are living comfortably in, without it.

This is not about what you think, it's what the word of God say. We are to keep ourselves clean so that no one will feel the need to "judge or correct us." If one does not want judgement the individual need to live a life that his/her good will not be spoken bad of ( this is the word). You can not decide how Gods word is to apply for you are not him. People normally knows when they are doing wrong. If the person is not able to see it then maybe he or she is a reprobate. Which is a sad state to exist in. Out of love you pull people up on there mess so that their soul is not lost. Call judgement if you like but awareness is better than eternal death.

I'm not okaying his lifestyle, and I know him because he's from my hometown; but what I am saying is there is not a single soul roaming this earth that is perfect. He may be in a valley part of his life right now, but he knows God, and the power of God. We Christians become so judgemental that we miss the mark, forgetting God can use anyone he wants to deliver his message. A drunk lady told me (while I was sitting in a night club) I didn't belong in the club, I needed to be in church; never saw this lady before in my life, but she knew I came up in church.... And after that day, I took my behind right back to my dad's church. At that moment God used that lady to get to me, but the way you are talking makes it seem like God doesn't have the power to do that.

You do have permission to find out what works for you BUT it has to be by seeking God; under His divine plan for you. I had a period where I didn't attend regularly bc I had just gone through a period of major grief, but I stayed in my word and connected to saved folks who blessed me, then one day the Lord said go back.
With all due respect, you can't say "you have permission to find out what works for you..." and in the same sentence say "but it HAS to be by seeking God under His divine plan for you". No one knows His divine plan for either of us and finding out what works for us is ultimately all part of His plan since He already knows the outcome. What may work for you may not work for me, and vice-versa.

The reason preachers and people of God are against acts and of being homosexual is because Gods word says those people will not inherit the kingdom of God. The Bible speaks about a "falling away" in the last days, and this is exactly what I believe is happening. "Sin" is the cause for the "falling away". These are the last days, the end may be tomorrow or a thousand years away, nevertheless, the end times are here, and the "church" is being exposed for her sins. It's going to get "worse", but the people of God must hold on to the faith and move away from all the "drama" the so-called church is having, but yet draw closer to God.

I feel like this interview may be peppered through the lens of his personal experiences and struggles. Youth are falling away from the church but it’s not because of worship or lack thereof. Where scriptures are concerned, there are no personal interpretations, which is why WE gotta read and STUDY and not just scripture but understand genre, the times in which the books were written, study the GREEK and Hebrew translations, the authors and lastly lands and customs. THEN and only then will you get the non-personal interpretations of scripture.

As a Millennial and a reformed self righteous Christian, I have grown more in Spirit since I haven’t been in the church 24/7 (oh! Lawrdt! Don’t rebuke me!) I’m in my spiritual climax and deep fellowship with the will of God, this platform here is a great example! I read the comments before responding and some have already condemned (judged) this man, church became a tradition and not a relationship for me, they where not vested with what I was called to do rather they wanted me to do what they wanted me to do! There is too MUCH tradition in the black church (because that’s the church I know), and less Jesus, if Jesus walked this earth mingling with everyone as a Jew why can’t we? Instead the church wants to brainwash and cherry pick verses that are befitting, say what you may, I’ve grown tremendously in my spirit than I would’ve while in the church that I served every time the days opened. I agree that It is a travesty to cancel the choir and the quartet. These are the mainstays of the Black community and gospel music. Unfortunately, this purging is a byproduct of us wanting to be mainstream and moving toward money instead of God and community. You cannot cancel traditional gospel. God is not a genre. You have to maintain the entire spectrum of spirituality and the music that is a part of the tradition. The church should not be abandoned and traditional gospel music should not be abandoned.

I really want to agree with him on this point: PRAISE AND WORSHIP has been the "SUPERSTAR SECTION" and I have gotten to a church to preach and had the P&W team sing for 45 MINUTES! That drains ALL of the joy and the juice out of the service that it feels like THE WORD IS RUSHED! The church has always been spoken of as a "fashion show" but THE CHOIR was the place where people saw THEMSELVES and wanted to grow up and into it. Between it and the usher board, PEOPLE saw their service and anointing. IN HIS WILL. It's sad because there are so many churches were God's will is right and righteous BUT the church wants SUPERSTARS that they don't want to do the work to live SUPER LIVES!

I really can relate to this whole conversation, growing up in church all my life they are correct things are not as they use to be and we did take the words of the Pastor instead of searching out the word for ourselves. In this day and time it is essential that everyone study the word for themselves and seek out God instead of just listening to the pastors. God give revelation to all that seek it and it is true that their is so much resources to help us, so there is no reason for us not to grow spiritually.

Wow! I'm loving this testimony. All of us have to take different paths in order to come face to face with God. Moses when into Pharaoh's house and ended up in the wilderness to find God. I praise God that Tonex has come face to face with God based on a relationship he has with God and not just on what he was being told by others. He's come to know God in a very real way.
