  • ASICS is a well known brand in the world of shoes, especially sports related shoes. So I'll be looking closely at three of their premium indoor court shoes, the Court Control FF3, Blast FF3 and the Blade FF, and see if they are good for badminton. Have you tried Asics shoes for badminton before?

Yeah I have the Gel-Rocket 11 in white. Pretty nice shoes although I find they could be lighter. They’re pretty comfortable, grippy and stylish. I can’t really recommend them as oppose to badminton specific shoes because I’ve never used any. I’d recommend the shoes if you’re on a budget though!

Something worth mentioning (for UK viewers at least) is that Asics offer a 90-day trial if you sign up as a member (which is free). I.e. you can try these shoes for 90 days and still return them if you're not happy. I've recently bought the Beyond FF for badminton and a GR9 for tennis. I can't name any other brand who offers a similar option with most, if not all, requiring them to be unused if you want to return.

I'm using Gel Rocket 11 for the past 6 months on a rubber court. No problems so far. The Gel is very useful for people with knee problem as it absorbs a lot of impact. Bought it for US$55 which I think is reasonable for a good quality shoe.

Having used the asics court control FF 2 for a few years, I can say it's a solid shoe. I've also used Yonex shoes, but for me, ASICS shoes last longer. Even with my habit of dragging my left foot, the ASICS are holding up well.

Using Asic's Beyond FF currently, way better stability, cushioning and torsional support compared to Mizuno wave claw and wave pro and yonex 65z I was using previously, and the uppers never wore a hole around the area where you drag your feet unlike the mizuno and yonex which shows damage after first 2 sessions. Downside is they're higher, so doesn't feel as agile as the wave claw and 65z

I personally have been wearing yonex shoes for as long as i remember, many of my friends wear asics and most of them have the same issue with slipping around as we often play in multi purpose halls that are not really in the cleanest conditions, cleaning the outsole before every game kind of works but im sure there is a more permanent solution

i've used Blade FF for around 5 months and it's been great for me. i feel like they sacrifice some tech and additional comfort/support for lightness, and i personally really like playing with lighter shoes. they can be slippery at times however, so once these are done i'm probably gonna go for those lightweight Yonex shoes that you recommend as my next choice.

Lol, except for the grip issue, everything else is great. Ha!
Kinda a key element for a shoe 😅
Tbf I've personally only tried two brands over the years (I change quite frequently).
Yonex I find has a higher peak levels of grip but can drop off dramatically/very easily when it sees dust on court. Durability is appalling nowadays for yonex IMHO. Pushed way too far on 'lightweight-ness' I guess it's better for business.
Victor has a lower max grip level but has better ability on dustier courts (or the grip difference isn't as pronounced because of lack of peak grip). I assumed they used slightly harder rubber compound. 🤷

    Hi CK,
Can you please suggest which will be better. Yonex Astrox 88 play (3rd Gen) or Arcsaber 11 play. Want a racquet for both Doubles and singles. Both Attack and Defence. Basically a allround racquet.
Or any racquet would you suggest from Yonex other than these 2??
Adding Astrox 88 play to this comparison because Astrox is singles focused series but there 88d and 88s are doubles focused. And 88 play might be blend of both 88s and 88d. So might be suitable for both Doubles and singles and both Attack and Defence.
Please suggest which one to take for a allround game play in singles and doubles both.

I haven't played with these rackets but luckily had dry swings with all three and long story short I felt the 3rd gen 88 was smoothest of all and also slight head heavy which most certainly would translate into better smashing . Personal opinion of mine when buying Cheaper rackets go for the head heavier rackets because soon you will feel the limitations of the even balance and head light rackets . Also you can use higher tension on strings comfortably on Head heavy rackets because on light one's with High tension feels like playing with wooden log no repulsion at all.
      Soo good for 3rd gen 88. 👍
