I had a very similar experience lately. Renter returned the car and didn't inform me of any damage or problems during the trip. Car was returned at night and didn't look like there were any problems only to notice the following morning that my left tire was replaced as well and looking more closely, evidence of burnouts and my rear passenger wheel well was missing, I mean wtf right?! I suggest to take your car to a mechanic and put it on a lift to check for damage underneath because it's been obviously driven hard and quite possibly if they had to replace the tire, that tells me that there was some type of major tire damage while being driven hard. My car is in the shop right now and they found more damage when they put it on a lift.
Saimah, Say, . . . this is sabotage. I believe this dude sub-rented it out to some idiot. As it's running rough, I would further speculate some serious powertrain damage has been done to your car. Have a top-notch mechanic run the performance history data from your electronic control module (ECM) before your rent it out again! You might have some serious damage. Contact an attorney. As this guy is a Turo host, he can be held to a higher standard of care (liability). This is total B.S. and you should not have to financially suffer. All the best!
… performance history check .. that’s great advice !! But Turo will not take any extra steps against this host to protect other hosts or the platform/community
Saimah, I don't know if you knew that some hosts will try to put you/us off of the rental business because we are their competitors. I would not be hesitant to mention their names on all social media.
This happens very often on my Hellcat, i have to change tires almost every other week. It's q hassle trying to get reimbursed for it each time! Its getting to the point that I'm thinking of de-listing the car.
I was gonna say probably the only choice is to raise the rental price for these muscle cars to be worth it. Let’s be honest boys will be Boyz and that’s the thrill of the muscle cars. Hard runs and burnouts! Let’s not lie to our inner selves.
Hey Jose, I have just purchased a 2021 wide body scat pack. I’m in the process of being a Turo host and my biggest fear is exactly what you commented on this video. I’m looking for any advice and/or help. My IG is @hazz_4tw. Please inbox me bro! I need a little guidance and advice before I get started with my Dodge and I know you can help me through the beginning process of what I may or may not know. Thanks a million!
Sorry that this happened. Luckily you have good documentation skills. I’ll take note to take pics of the wheel wells & tires more specifically. Another great video 👏🏽
My heart goes out to you, kind lady! You work so hard and you are really really smart! Keep hustling, beautiful! I have such respect for you and what you do sister!
Dang some people are heathens. He actually burnt your tires and trashed your car and tried to hide the fact, what a piece of trash. I hope you get full reimbursement.
I had a sKorean renter damage all 4 corners on the underside of my corvette targa top. The top was seemingly dragged and scraped along the road asphalt. I didn't have specific pictures of the area pre-damaged. I was never compensated for the damage ($2000) and no longer recommend TURO at all.
Since the wheel wells look like this, the magnet of the transmission pan looks similar ( with metal shavings)...for that reason Turo should have an extra penalty for wear and tear on transmission and motor. Turo charges renters under 26 who are more likely to mistreat cars like this an extra fee but hosts are the entity that actually take the hit on misuse on cars like this.
Looks like brake torquing to me... he smoked up both rear tires and your eagle eyes caught it. Now talking about another helpful video... as a host I will be watching for this also. 😎

It sucks that guy did this to you. Thank you for sharing. I hope Turo did right by you. Tire sizes have exact dimensions, for all tire manufacturers across the globe. There is no "approximate" sizing. Any differences can be measure in mm, not inches (including the height). Tires should be measured for exact dimensions only when mounted on the vehicle, at maximum tire pressure rating (best to lower the pressure to recommended rating for normal use). A tire size of 275/35R19 will always have the same dimensions, no matter the manufacturer. This doesn't mean the tires perform the same, only they have the same dimensions. Having said that, tire dimensions can also depend on the width of the wheel itself, since there is no standard for wheel widths. This will not change the width of the tire, but only the width of the bead (touching the wheel). In the video above, the measurement 275 is the width of widest part of the tire, not tread (measured in millimeters/mm), and is constant. The measurement 19 is the diameter of the wheel (measured in inches) upon which the tire is mounted, and it is constant. The measurement 35 is the height of the sidewall, and is measured as a percentage (%) of the tire width (it is not measured in mm or inches). This is called the aspect ratio. This aspect ratio means the 35 "height" of the tire sidewall is 35% as tall as the width of the tire (275 x 0.35 = 96.25mm). Tread depth on new tires can vary slightly, but new tires typically have a tread depth of 10/32 to 11/32 of an inch. 1/32 of an inch = 0.79375mm, so as mentioned above, very small variations. The only way those tires are so different is 1) they are different sizes; or 2) one of the tires is being marketed with an incorrect size.
Just in case you weren't sure, the high-speed driving definitely didn't result in that. This dude did some massive burnouts in your car which makes this more frustrating. That puts a lot more stress and damage on the engine, driveshaft, and axles than high-performance driving ever would. Also, stock C7 corvettes came with 285s so he possibly put a skinnier tire on. Have your car inspected as a result of the reimbursement and let the techs know someone used it as a burnout machine..

First off I love your videos you are so amazing and helpful but here's the thing. The fact that you bought this car, put super sport tires on it which is the best performance tires on the market and then rented it out is literally asking for people to drive this car to its limits there's no other reason why people rent this car they aren't goin to use it for grocery runs its the point if it having that much power and costing that much I will NEVER EVER will I be okay with doing this in someones car ever even if its a vette or Lamborghini its kind of the the good with the bad you will at least once in a blue moon that's going to "see what the hype is about" in your car

I don't understand how people can thrash someone else's car... whenever I rented a car through Turo or any other platform, I've always took care of it even more so than if it was my own! I just don't understand these horror stories and how people can return a car in such horrible conditions. Absolutely blows my mind. What is wrong with these people?
I was thinking it was either drag strip burnout or simply roasting the tires for the heluvit. I'll bet the engine/trans/drivetrain is out of whack and she won't be able to do a claim. Remember she has to prove, within a certain amount of hours, that the car wasn't running like that when she rented it out. I doubt she video taped it running while he got in and drove off.
Here's a question for this renter. If you were going to do this, why didn't you have the brains to use those tires instead of hers? So, you burn your own tires and not hers? You're replacing them anyways, it only makes sense. NOTE: I am not condoning this type of behavior, but kind of a brainless move - no?
I realize this was last yr. BUT ... this wasn't about going 150 MPH on a freeway. This was about DRAG RACING ... burning rubber from a cold start. I'd be very concerned about your engine. How far did he pass RED LINE. You are very lucky so far it's only about tires etc. That engine has suffered far more stress than it had in the past. You should have some type clause that if the car is abused such as drag racing the fees are QUADRUPLED!!! Speed is nothing high RPM's is a very big deal!!! I hope you have clauses to protect your C8.
He did a burnout. Held the brakes so the car would not move forward and floored the accelerator pedal. Burns the tread off and buries the car in smoke.
Turo host are the worst renters. Mine last night here in Vegas for EDC didn’t have his license on him and got upset when I wouldn’t give him the car. Then he worked me for free gas and disputed to gas charge. I have numerous issues with entitlement with hosts.
Sue and make pay for $80k new corvette and $200k inconvenience and suffering. Lucky you’re you and prob resourceful about this kind of thing. Seek an attorney and good luck
You should be getting alerts from your tracker when the car is speeding. he, he - 150 mph on a public road. If you knew about it, you could have immediately ended the rental and retrieved the car... This guy basically stole two new tires from you. Time to file a police report? Please get in touch with Turo's upper management. This guy should be banned from Turo for life.
That tire gunk happens only when the driver does burnouts. Cars can, and usually do, get damaged from doing burnouts, donuts and drifting. The high speed shouldn't have caused problems to the car but since it's running rough, it's probably transmission/diff or engine problems from keeping the car in extremely high revs.
for smelling evidence you could get a large container record your self putting in the car and then closing the container that can capture the smells but it has to be done right when you get the vehicle and of course record it all with video.
Thanks for the video, I have been pretty relaxed with my uploaded photos when the trip starts. I will make sure to be more detailed on the wheels now after seeing this!
Saimah, a similar thing happened to my convertible in Florida last year. Another host with the same car swapped my tires and wheels with older, worn ones. It was a one day rental. I didn't have the burnouts, but I got the same tire pressure notice on my Chevrolet app. The worst part was that the police were not interested at all when I reported it with GPS info and the license plate for the other host's car. Dealing with the public lets you see how people are garbage. It sounds like you mentioned my incident at 12:41. Turo covered the swapped tires, but just barely. Thanks for the tips on paying attention to the details and documenting our cars well.
The renter should be paying for EVERYTHING; oil change, transmission service, possibly break service. Then he should be banned from the platform. Lifetime host/renter.
Let him know you have legal evidence against him. He may have already seen this video. If he doesn’t pay you for all damages then file a police report. He could get arrested if he was going that fast on public property.
That renter who is a host is a dirt bag. He should have more respect. As host we take 20/30+ pictures before & after the trips & we know our cars like the back of our hands. What was this person thinking? & He is a host?! Shameful. I’ve been using Linxup for my GPS on my van that I rent out on Turo. What company do you use & how happy are you with their service?
I think its time for you to make a booking to rent one his cars on the platform hehe.

Turo needs to get rid of people like this. Permanent ban on the platform must
That tire gunk happens only when the driver does burnouts.
Same
Saimah, a similar thing happened to my convertible in Florida last year.
He was probably spinning donuts too. Good eyes!
Call the cops, that’s reckless driving to say the least 150mph ? Guy should loose his license, you got proof get him off the streets
I'm sure there were burnouts and doughnuts.
