Great game, lucky enough to own 2 arcade versions of it on 2 Taito collections, and lucky big time to have it on the Saturn (worth big money). Solid game and showed that at the time Taito knew how to do these games and keep you hooked.
When the arcade game asks you to insert coin during the attraction mode, press the bubble button repeatedly quite fast, you get a bear under a waterfall appear, no idea why but it does.
I only searched for this game because I suddenly remembered its catchy soundtrack, freaking loved the days I spent on my old friend's house playing mame on his shitty pc that could barely handle spellforce that day.
Story: "PEACEFUL WOODY-LAKE. THE FIRE DEVIL TOOK WOODY-LAKE BY SURPRISE. TRANSMITTED MIRACULOUS POWER THE SAVIOR, "HIPOPO". ATTACK THE DEVIL" That's Taito, all right.
the gameplay looks like a more refined Parasol Stars, but it was actually released before that game! interesting to see Taito do two different takes on the same concept, especially with how similar they are stylistically. this one wins though, the longer stages have more going on and that music is SO good, especially that water stage

I loved this game. However, it feels so slow for me when I play it while you suddenly start sniping enemies so quickly that I can't process what I just saw.
I wish this protagonist caught on more he's wonderful, I love his expressiveness! Although I think the games title may have held it back from success. What a shame...
About the best thing I can say is that this title was included in the "Taito Legends 2" disc for PS2. I've been able to make it to the final boss, but its last form consistently gives me trouble. Having watched this vid, though, does give me something else to try.
The bubble mechanic feels like an excellent Kirby ability, but it doesn't feel robust enough to hold up a whole game, even if it's only half an hour long.
Arcade machines: their Taito Type X board and it's revisions have been the only competitor for Sega in that market. Also, available for the later boards, they have created a digital distribution system called NESiCAxLive. Last thing: Taito has been owned by Square Enix since 2005.

No kidding that they're hard. Take the game I'm from for an example (Rainbow Islands). Getting a Game Over at any point after World 7 without getting the CONTINUE book is immediate failure.
Also I Saw Someone getting the max Score in Cleopatra Fortune; A total of 999999990 Points. It Seems to be Nearly Impossible to do That. You Must get a Chain of 20 and a Perfect to Archive the Highest Score Quickly.

Not gonna lie, this is _exactly_ the kind of game I'd expect a Mr. Saturn to play.
Have to say the last boss theme song was perfect.

Some of these enemy designs were pretty interesting. I especially like the pitcher plant dragons and the ice cube dodos.

It's Japanese name, Mizubaku Daibouken literally means Water Bomb Adventure, so the western name comes off as weird.
