I know this is a old video, but before mounting a engine to the adjustable engine plate, if you grease the pipe before putting it into the stand it makes a world of difference and changing the short handle to a longer one, I used black water pipe with caps. Also I keep the brackets to the plate bolted to he engine semi loose and turn the engine till it seems to turn equally all the way around so it is more balanced for turning. And I'm doing it from a wheelchair so it does make a difference.
I just bought the same stand and ran into the same problems with legs interfering with my portable engine hoist legs. I will try your suggestion to push the stand in parallel to the hoist legs, one between and one outside. My major problem is trying to mate the engine to the stand as nothing aligns. My engine is a 1963 olds 394 with a cast flywheel shroud, if I try to mount the engine without the shroud the engine seems to sit too high, with the shroud the arms don't bolt to the backing plate. What am I doing wrong?
You should weld a sleeve to the frame to place the pin into while you spin the engine so that you don't have to walk back & forth to the bench. Or put it in your pocket for a moment. LOL.
I just returned the 1000lb I bought. It wouldn't bolt up to my 454.I was wondering if anyone else had run into this problem. The 2000lb is definitely beefier.
They work fine for a 4 cyl or I would never put a Big Block on it with that single wheel out in front easy to flip it over while moving it around if you tip it. the 2k isn't that expensive when compared to a new engine cost.
I just bought the smaller one myself, still in the box. I'm returning it and getting the 2000 lb one now. Thanks for the video!

What kind of grease did you use?
That’s good advice thanks
Thanks for the tip. Buying the 2000 lb tomorrow
U do know what grease is??
What size bolts you need to help the engine to the plate? I’m going to be doing a Chevy 350 engine.

I'm not trying to rebuild a 14 liter inline 6 cylinder. The 1000lbs Harbor Freight is just fine for me.

Where do I find the video of the 1000 lb stand? Thanks for this one. Short and to the point!
