For the past three nights we have had tremendous weather over Tromsø in Arctic Norway and we were right between two major meteor showers of the year, the southern and northern Taurids.
Taurids are mostly known for being very long-lasting, bright and colorful meteors. As they shoot down through our atmosphere, their burning intensity often makes them into fireballs or bollides. I caught only one fireball and saw one bollide 5 minutes after I wrapped up last night, most likely the brightest meteor I have seen to date above my head!
Nonetheless, I spent about 20 hours in the cold recording some parts of the sky in the hope of catching a few Taurids, and I did! They are not that easy to catch as they produce at best 5 meteors per hour at their peak (4-5 Nov. for southern Taurids and 11-12th Nov. for northern Taurids) and we were right between the two peaks. However, they are also known for having not such a narrow and restricting peak, meaning you can still catch meteors days before or after the peak. As a matter of fact, you should get out tonight to try and catch some bright meteors!
In these sequences taken in the mountains of Arctic Norway around Tromsø, you can also see some meteors shoot through the aurora borealis!
All was recorded with the Sony a7sIII + Atomos Ninja V+ in ProRes RAW 4K + Sigma 20mm f1.4.

Fascinating but potentially deadly. It’s the same meteor stream that caused the younger dryas impact theory.

Beautiful! Did you have some moonlight on the foreground mountains or is that just the magic of the A7Siii and the 20 1.4?

The science behind the protective shield of our planet we call our atmosphere is truly an amazing design by our creator.

lol. Not the atmosphere. Jupiter. Also Taurids have ended civilisation 12600 years ago once and we're in the thickest part of the taurids yet again.
