    I love freight trains, and there is something special about watching them in the Mojave Desert. I guess it's the openness and beauty of the desert. Awesome videos!

    Your vid is amazing. Really interesting for both raifanning and country visiting. I'll try to find the road you used and memorise it for an eventual tour in south California and AZ.

    Maybe you can help, RailfanJunction. I've recently started watching these train videos, because I do like trains, but never got really into realfanning myself. My question is How do you tell which engine is what model, make, etc. I see the big ones at the beginning of the first clip at Helendale have those fan vents (?) that stick out like little wings. One model that I've seen mentioned is the SD-40. Is that what I am seeing here? Who makes the SD-40s? Thank you in advance for any introduction you can provide.
