Simple fact with de ligt is this… he is a risk… a very expensive risk. I’m all for taking risks. But if I’m taking one… take it on someone who is either unproven potential or the financial implications are low enough that it becomes a calculated decision. An expensive risk on a player who was bang average at Juve and Bayern seems to have glazers all over it.
It would of made more sense and cheaper to have kept Varane than spending 45m on a transfer and his wages. Terrible decision!

For God's sake not de Ligt. The guy is not the solution - slow & laborious like Maguire! He is not a modern day defender & is vulnerable on one-on-one situations. Get a more versatile defender. This obsession with players who ETH has coached should come to an end! There are better defenders across the teams at the Euros (Slovakia, Romania, Georgia) who would cost far less. Big name syndrome will always be the club's undoing!

I'm not sold on Deligt personally, but he is still an upgrade on what we have got, barring Martinez. He isn't slow, but isn't the fastest at CB. He is okay pace wise, physical, decent passer, very experienced, a leader, can play L/R CB. But very injury prone. If they are serious about this deal, it needs to be around £30-40m and he needs to take a wage reduction to around £150-180k.

Mark regarding you comparing the cb's , De Ligt plays with Bayern but it doesn't remove the fact that the epl is a much tougher league with tougher opponents,you can't really campare, it's a huge worry that De Ligt couldn't hack it in an inferior league,too much of a risk really.
De ligt? The player we all thought would be the next big thing in defense. He was a normal defender for Juventus, hasn’t really impressed at Bayern, injury prone and on a huge salary. I don’t want him.
