Thanks for the info! The only reason I'm looking at the 5 is the lower price as used Sienna's people are still asking for too much. After this video, yep, gonna wait for the Sienna to drop in price...wanted to convert a van as a new hobby...no rush.
I have a 2012, recently bought it with 137k miles. And yes, it is at that point where many items need to be replaced. The engine is in good condition. I am using it as a 'tent on wheels' so I have taken out the middle and rear seats, which cuts out a lot of weight. So your engine power issue is not a problem for me (but yeah, it will never be a sporty car). And my mileage is very good compared to a Sienna or Odyssey- ~30mpg (sorry, don't have the conversion handy). This is not a daily driver for me so I can deal with the repairs if I get 20-30k out of it in the next five years or more. Good listing of issues, including a few I haven't had yet (wheel bearings, door hinges, oil pan). I thought my transmission might be going out, but it was actually the engine mounts leading to clunking at shifts. New engine mounts cleared it up. Thanks for the video. Nice to hear what you been through in the 60k km you've had it.
I like the little car, I have not owned one yet but I have driven them and they seem kind of fun, I would toss all of the rear seats and use the little car for a flea market and garage sale rig
After confirming your fuel mileage claim on 'Fuelly', I think I will probably go with my first choice, the Sienna with it's slightly higher fuel econmy, but proven reliability. Very dissapointed, as I don't need a full size mini-van, and would have likely been very happy with the Mazda5.
I have a 2013 mazda 5..i chance the tcm and is still slipping when i put it in drive/reverse and when it catches the gear it a hard bang..have you run into this type of problems with them???
I'm the only owner of a 2017, it's been fantastic. Basic, but very practical if you only need to carry 4 or 5 passengers.

Have one with 230 k miles. Eats tires, done suspension components and belt. Nothing else.

I want to buy a car and there is one 2012 with 112000 miles on it and its manual. He asked for $5000. What do you think about it?
If u need “a car” then no, if u need a cheap van, I’ll offer 3500 for it
