There was a time, when the audiences in Kabul were appreciative of the finest music of India. Savagery has taken over now. Fine arts are withering. I used to listen to Radio Kabul in the evenings on 49 meter band shortwave prior to 1970. Great artists like Bade Ghulam Ali Khan and Begum Akhtar used to perform in Kabul. Where have those days gone?
Harjap Aujla . You are 100% right.I must add that in Islam music is haram., Taiban, savages who follow Islam to core killed it.. Begum Akhtar was truly blessed by Goddess Saraswati
Dr belal saheb , I'm now 60.from very childhood I liked her . I'm literally mad after this voice . as a search result I found this item . I'm very very thankful to u and I salute you . pl do continue.
Begum Akhtar is the Queen of Ghazals. Aesi aawaaz.. aesi taaseer.. Begum Akhtar kay guzar jaanay kay baad aaj tak nahin aayi (50 saal ho gaye unko guzray huey). aur shaayad kabhie naa aayegi. Rarest of the rare voice thi !
Lafz hi nahi h apki taarif k lye. aapne is qadar khubsurat gulukaar ko sambhal kar rkha. Dil dimagh par ek surur sa taari h or ek hi lafz nikalta h waaaaaaaaaah waaaaaaaah wasaaah
Dr Bilal Sahab, your willingness to share these rarest of the rare gems means the world to lovers of classics like me and so many of your subscribers. Thanks a million Janaab.
Thanks a lot Dr. Qayum Belal for sharing this beautiful rendition by Begum Akhtar. The ghazal was penned by ' Fana ' Nizami Kanpuri, a disciple of legendary poet Jigar Muradabadi.
@@chessgames6632 I am also a fan of Fana Nizami kanpuri. But I want his majmooa e kalam deewan I mean. Please reply to this on my Whatsapp no. 919094165281. Iqbal

Heartfelt thanks for introducing me to this rare gem from the incomparable Begum Akhtar. What a delight! Unki aawaaz aur gaayaki tahe dil ko chhoo jati hai
Belal Sahib, it is indeed a pleasure to hear this ghazal in the unforgettable voice of the great Begum Akhtar. Thanks for uploading it. In particular, I like the slow meditative pace!
Thank you Sir for your efforts in bringing this wonderful music to us. It was in Kabul 49 years ago that I had the experience that has led me to delight in this devotional music. It was a woman's voice coming from a radio stall and drifting up to the roof opposite where I was staying. I have no understanding of Urdu or Hindi or Farsi, but the voice is another instrument in the orchestra.
Speechless what a preformance full credit goes to Dr saheb bilal for sharing such a wonderful treasure begumji sung to the perfection in response to one of our indian friends i must mention thar thoes golden days have gone with war in afghanistan when there was a time for such a great music but, afghans still love north indian classical music (shastria music) as well as qawali and ghazals may thoes time come again
Please don't refer to it as "shastria music" - that is a term which denotes hegemonic view of culture that evolved from contributions from ALL Muslim, Sikh and Hindu artists - "shastria music" by design appropriates contributions of Sikh and Muslim musicians. Hindostani music or Raag music or South Asian classical music are better and more inclusive terms.
@Hargit Singh i think the terms doesn't say anything wrong with what u meant sir. If you deeply read the history of raga so you don't bkame anything except music
@@ustadjan5912 history itself says that the term "shastria sangeet" is a 19th century formulation. Even "Carnatic sangeet" is much older in history than what is termed "shastria sangeet".
I once heard this ghazal in mid 70's....... Only once until now...... Brought back incredible memories, a voice that will last forever... Thanks for such a great ghazal.
What a piece of gold ! Truly very rare and rich poetry by ' FANA '.Never heard before.Recording very clear according to the time. Please dig out such gems from the past.God bless.
Right. I had the opportunity to meet very many Afghanis during our stint in the middle East for about 10 years. Yes, they are a kind genteei people fond of music, specially ghazal baithaks.

Akhtari Begum was the Queen is gazals and light hindustani classical music in her times. Only lucky one must have listened to her while she was alive. She was not only good singer but a beautiful woman too. Anyone know where she is buried??
Thanks a lot Dr. Qayum Belal for sharing this beautiful piece by Begum Akhtar. The ghazal. Really rare, heard it first time because of your kind gesture of uploading it here. Where is Kabul now !!
