Looking back on the Intel Macs just makes me happier about how much M1 has changed things. I can actually buy a MacBook Air and have more than enough power for my needs. Had I gone for an Intel MacBook I would have had to spend hundreds more on a 13” Pro base model.
They don't run at those temps always. If you use MacBook for coding/office work/college work/ accounting/ HR work chances are very rarely will your MacBook will reach this high CPU usage. Why cannot it be a machine for DJs, musicians and Photoshop users? Seems to be quite well optimized for those use cases. Especially for people running software like Logic Pro that saves them a ton of money over time in comparison to subscription based apps. Some moderate video editing and especially stuff like programming also seem to work well. And while Linus might not be in love with the temperature (neither am I btw) he has shown neither thermal throttling nor has he tested the temperature in actual work apps, something like XCode and Final Cut Pro X (because according to UA-camrs video editing is the only „Pro“ workflow). I am not in love with any laptops (Intel is largely at fault for that) currently to be honest. And the design language and the thermal architecture inside those MacBooks are breathing their last breaths before a significant shift to ARM processors. But if you actually need a MBP and you need it in a smaller package than the 16 inch those are far better than before thanks to the new keyboard and the 1799$ model having both more storage and more and faster RAM, in addition to everything else.
Most of the music industry is moving back to windows. Abelton, serato and traktor was optimized for mac now it easy to just by a gaming laptop for less
Nunace this doesn’t negate the fact that some people will either need or want a MacBook instead. This argument of people switching to Windows has been made for every single Apple pro app for years (except XCode, since there is no way to make iOS Apps on Windows and there are hundreds of thousands of developers who rely on that). Logic Pro has just received a huge upgrade with a ton of features which has been met very positively be Audio professionals. Final Cut has been by all accounts always way more stable than Premiere (and it’s feature set and optimization for lower end devices put it ahead of Davinci Resolve, et least for now). The definition of Pro isn’t set as much in stone as Linus would like to believe but even if it was I can hardly think of anything more pro than being familiar with an OS, a certain group of Pro Apps and buying the hardware that fulfills your „Pro“ needs.
@@marctech1996 I do work in audio. It k0re a case of cost. Yes people dont like pro tools (it actual awful to use). Logic is great but most of the audio processing is third party plugins any way.
Nunace appreciate the reply. Sometimes I fear whenever one says something nice about an Apple product or a console on LTT you will be fed to the Wolfes :) You seem to make my point (at least partially) as I don’t think you will disagree that any large production Studio will not choose a random gaming laptop over a MBP that has all the advantages of cheaper and arguably better software, less need of IT support (which has been a huge argument for MacOS for a decade now) and the OS most of their workers are used to. However I do not fully disagree with you either. Many startups or smaller studios might choose to go with cost saving in the first place (where a windows Laptop will deliver more raw performance for the buck) and just buy a license for all the Laptops they issue for their workers, since they might be able to write that expense off later in taxes. But audio was also just one of the use cases I mentioned and there will be similar arguments for most of the Apps I have talked about. However I don’t see the current lineup of Macs accelerating any of those switches to Windows since they have far better value than last gen (more storage, more RAM), way better reliability thanks to the new keyboard, they now receive updates far more frequently and even a device like the Mac Pro (even though overpriced) shows a dedication to scaling their hardware up and not down by making everything thinner and lighter even though not all products need that treatment.
Sometimes I watch the sponsor part coz I like the product and can't afford it. It still feels good that LMG gives us these sweet deals on products. Love it!
@Keretizein x i have a relatively small cooler that i got for free. honestly as long as the temp is under 80c i don't see the point in upgrading. EDIT: to everyone asking no its not a stock cooler or even a newer cpu. Its an old 3450 on a z75 mobo. Its not a stock cooler but its still kinda small. I got it for free so i never got a new one.
@@facyual9061 do you have a Ryzen? I had high temp too on my 3700x and a Scythe Fuma 2 which is a pretty badass cooler. I just installed PowerPlanSwitcher and setting it on energy saving it dropped to 40c on idle and no differences on daily use (and of course you can easily set it to high performences when you need that), highly recommended if that's your case
@@LinuxUser123 This is a video that shows evidence of how powerful the laptop actually is but at the cost of higher temperatures that can diminish its lifetime. You may not think it's worth the insane amount of money they ask for it (and I agree with you there), but not truly say it's shit. It's an overpriced, overheating laptop that can't truly be used to its full potential without greatly affecting its lifetime.
100°C at full bore on a new system. I can't wait to see Louis Rossman open one up in a year or two and show a motherboard that's is notably burned looking.
Has nothing to do with intel or ryzen, but with manufacturer of the laptop. CPU is fine, its just the cooling solution is horendus. I have 2700x with wraith prism. Now imagine if i removed wraith prism cooler and slapped that shitty wraith stealth. That is basically what apple is doing and some other manufacturers. Nothing wrong with the CPU, its just cooling solutions are literally dog shit...
@@vasilije94 Actually it DOES matter about the CPU because everyone knew going into intels 10 gen CPUs that the only way they were going to pull more performance out of the 14nm dye is with more power, which in turn means more heat. Apple knew this and still persists with their (like you said) dog shit cooling solutions. Intel is stupid for not shrinking the dye to compete with AMD and Apple is stupid for thinking thinner means better. Although, at this point, I'm not sure if Ryzen would fare any better in an Apple machine. It's already hotter than intels stuff as is, it would probably melt the entire machine. A Ryzen Macbook Pro would stop the shit out of Intel MB Pros though lol.
@@Gojira_Wins That's not necessarily correct. AMD reports max TDP which would be a machine under load, where as Intel reports average TDP, which would be probably close to idle, they don't report their testing methods. The thing is, because they report averages, they have lower numbers, which makes their CPU's appear to run cooler. Linus did a compare and contrast ( though he didn't know the specifics of how they dirived TDP numbers or at least didn't mention them in his video - I actually got those details from another youtuber Gamers Nexus ). In any case, the AMD Ryzen 9 ran an average of 3 degrees cooler than the Intel 9900K using a very convoluted method to make sure the temperatures read would be accurate. 3 degrees means they run about the same temperature, honestly. That's about margin of error. The thing is, AMD's TDP numbers give you a more accurate idea of what kind of cooling solution you need by listing the max TDP, instead of an average. Because do you want to know the worst case scenario so you can be prepared, or do you want to prep for the average, and if you push your system a little too much it goes up in smoke?
Well 90* apperantly doesn't kill the Macbook Pro's. A 2012 15" is still alive and working fine. The temps is also around 88-94* celsius, when pushed for gaming etc.
The reason CPU is generally not being kept at 90+ degrees in consumer machines is not the risk of damaging the CPU, but the risk of damaging sensitive motherboard parts, like capacitors. I guess Apple just feels confident about their motherboards. And they are probably not wrong. I have a 13 inch MacBook Air which has been heavily used for 8 years now, constantly going above 90 degrees from day 1, and it’s not showing any signs of problems ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The chart at 3:36 shows the XPS 13 having lower clocks than the MBP 13, but in multiple parts of the video you say that the XPS has/is supposed to have faster clocks. Am I missing something?
Well basically they are comparing products completely different, for example the dell that they are using have Full HD screen, which obviously will increase the life of the battery... I think someone is doing the war here...
That would be near impossible. It would be a multi year process with several computers running at full tilt for years. (It would need to be >10 computers to be statistical relevant.)
Look at any repair videos. If they didnt die via water damage, macs die after a few years tops on average due to cooking themselves to death. Look up Rossman repair
7:58. not really surprised the MacBook ran for a much shorter period of time. Brightness is way higher than on the XPS. And even the Air looks a little brighter.
The XPS has a touch digitizer, lowers the brightness. Probably all laptops are running at max brightness tho. Edit: Touch also consumes more battery life fyi
Pangolin thank you. I sometimes don’t understand the idea of immediately jumping in to support LTT. It was an objective criticism of methodology. By all account MBP has less battery life if tested even at the same 200 nits like Engadget does. But one cannot deny that one test is better.
He was showing the base model of each laptop. The Dell goes as low as $1199 but that’s the equivalent performance to the $1299 MacBook Pro with only 2 Thunderbolt ports. The $1649 Dell XPS is what they’re comparing to the MacBook Pro with 4 Thunderbolt ports
I'll gladly pay $150 for better speakers, a better screen, better OS scaling, 2 more thunderbolt ports, a better touchpad, lack of coil whine and better resale value.
Ra awesome Yep, we both bought them used right around the same time last year. Mine was twice as expensive. Also significantly faster though of course. Even though his MacBook was the top of the line it only had a 750m. Mine has a 970m which runs games more than twice as fast as his Mac.
Just bought my first MacBook Pro 13" with the 10th gen Intel chips for $1599 (BestBuy sale). At that price it's better than any Windows laptop with the same specs. Not having to deal with the laptop fans spinning up while doing nothing or just causally using it is a much preferred over what I get with any windows laptop I use (Dell, X1 Carbon, T480, etc). And for those that keep saying the Mac is overpriced, its not when you compare ALL specs. Most laptops with a QHD or 4k screen w/wide color gamut, NVME SSD and 10th gen intel i5 CPU, and 4 fully powered thunderbolt 3 ports would cost as much. And there are other things to consider like track-pad quality, speaker quality or the fact that you'll be stuck with Windows Home unless you pay to upgrade on a windows laptop.
It's a nice spec bump (though only on the higher end 4 port model) and the Butterfly days are finally over, but the 14" redesign + Tiger Lake, that I think is what I'm waiting for, hopefully with mini LED in tow.
" Tiger Lake is an Intel CPU microarchitecture based on the third-generation 10 nm process node (named "10nm++"). " . . . "10nm++" Intel reaally likes their pluses.
@@Barood_D Everyone says this, but no one follows up with hard data showing Apple allowing CPUs to hit their tjunctionmax impacts longevity. It's literally what the CPU vendor specifies as the max safe temperature. Dell also similarly uncaps it, it just has a lower wattage in this particular laptop.
A good thing would be tiger lake has support for thunderbolt 4, which uses USB 4 which means it has support for DisplayPort 2.0 and that means we have support for 8K displays! I'm eagerly waiting for a tiger lake 14 and 16 inch MBP.
@@gerhardwubbena1491 Sure, the CPU will live on, but the logic board will warp and that will break solder joints, which in turn will lead to random crashes or complete failure. That‘s a 900€ repair. How long will it last? Just long enough to be out of warranty of course! And how do I know? Well, I’m the pissed off owner of a 2015 MacBook Air with exactly that failure in 2016, one month out of warranty 😒 Apple is just playing the planned obsolescence game now, so I refuse to give them money anymore. My Hackintosh maxes out at 73°C with a space heater / 9900K in it, so it is possible to cool even the hottest Intel processors without melting the mainboard.
With the macbook pro line, get yourself a custom fan curve. Yes, it means you’ll be hearing some noise during heavy loads - but i am happy to hear a little noise if it’s keeping my cpu in the 80s instead of high 90s. Would you rather a silent machine that doesn’t last?
MJ But are these load results needed for all users to buy laptops? 7 out of 10 people I know use MacBook for coding/office work compared to running video editing at 90% + CPU usage.
@@_simplerecipes_ Even not all user put their laptop on heavy load, their laptop should still designed to handle heavy load and not melting it self, right? just like that dell xps and pro 16" did.
@@_simplerecipes_ But Apple puts quite low end CPUs. Loading a web page temporarily loads CPU 100%, coding itself is as easy as writing a doc, but compiling is heavy on CPU and can be quite long 100% load. MS Office is notoriously bloated and can be quite heavy. And as you say 7 out of 10 Mac buyers have no idea what they are buying, so they should save some cash and just buy what they actually need. Other should just buy a decently engineered stuff. There's no excuse for Apple to underengineer their shit and charge as much as gold for it. Also many people would simply appreciate to actually have software that they need instead of buying into Abstinence OS. You want abstinence, use Elementary linux. It's free and good.
I must be missing something here.. my 16 inch MBP was literally on fire almost all the time, that's why I returned it for the 13 inch. Everyone I spoke to, including Apple, said the 16 inch was getting hotter because I had it plugged into an external monitor and the dGPU was being activated. I tried using an app to control the fans since it was loud but that just had it (obviously) get hotter, and I tried other fans to disable TurboBoost and etc, but I had mixed results. I spoke to some friends who have the 13 inch with external monitors and they said they have no issues. What the heck do I believe :( (Using a Mac for Logic Pro X, so telling me to use Windows is not an option sadly.)
Looks like you need to upgrade to the Mac Pro Desktop... Buy bye wallet! XD But in all seriousness, a laptop is just a word processor with a keyboard and screen, aside from one of those 15lb Windows laptop monstrosities, no laptop is going to provide the desired sustained performance, it simply isn't possible thermally. I guess the solution (other than the desktop) would be to only use the laptop screen and no external monitors. Also re-do the thermal paste.
U know what I’m pushing it here but I’ll take the thing off you that you’ve probably dropped many times for an amazing price of $15... I know it’s a stretch but priorities
If you look at Notebookcheck's review of the "supposedly faster" XPS 13, I think it has a TDP-up setting to 25W but it only lasts a few minutes before reverting to 15W, which is where the MBP 13 without so much difference on paper shines with its 28W TDP.
Yeah, that is what I thought. It seems like Apple-Fans are more and more reduced to people working in the creative industry only :-/ But what about R, Stata, heavy spread sheets or ArcGis...?
I think this is the demographic that the 10th Gen 13" is most for: Pros that don't need the heavy graphics power of the 16" model. It's the one I've chosen, and it's doing a pretty fantastic job.
MacBook Pro 13 is just the perfect machine for developers because it offers more performance than a MacBook air with almost the same form factor and ofcourse it has macos that is really really good for development workloads.
I have been using this laptop for 2 weeks now. Just as you open the lid, the MBP does not respond i.e. the trackpad and the keyboard doesn't work for about 20-30 seconds. I have installed the latest Mac OS Catalina 10.15.6, reinstalled the software, logged in as a new user, done with the safe boot, reset NVRAM and SMC also. Nothing seems to work. I have contacted apple also regarding the same, they have told me to get the device to the nearest service centre. I am really annoyed now, because I spent a lot of money in this laptop. I have a 6 year old MBA, that laptop has never had any problem so far even with the latest MacOS.
It'd be interesting if you guys could perform a long term test on running a CPU at 100C 24/7 and see if/how long it takes to degrade. Obviously throw in a control group, but it could for once and for all answer the question of whether or not it will harm your system. If it's intel's limit, maybe it'll last longer than expected?
You cn easily achieve cooler temperatures by installing mac fan control and setting the fan profile to custom based on cpu core 1 so that min temp =45°c and max temp =70°C Keeps the laptop only warm after this settings
Let me start off by saying I do not render video at all. If you do render video this might be true. I am a software developer and purchased the 1799 version of the MacBook Pro. I also installed the Intel Power Gadget when I purchased this computer about three weeks ago. While I do see were you are talking about the computer can hit 100C, it does not happen very often. The only time when I can get this computer that warm is when the simulator is being loaded, or XCode is compiling code to the simulator. Every once in a while when Visual Studio is compiling code as well. I have it hooked up to two 24-inch monitors, and the lid is closed all the time when working from my desk at home. I have not had any issue like you are talking about. Once the fans kick on it cools the machine pretty quick. As for your issue laying in bed and getting hot. I just wondering if you are rendering or editing a video while laying in bed, or another GPU/CPU intensive task. I use pages and work with Quicken while laying in bed all the time and do not have an issue with the computer getting hot.
You hit the nail on the head. I just bought an almost fully loaded 2020 Macbook for it's ability to run Lightroom and Photoshop well. Also because it's light weight and the 4 USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 ports since all of my devices including my camera are USB-C now. The 4 ports on the MacBook Pro mean I can charge all of my devices at the same time with only a single wall plug. Having only one charger is awesome for travel since power bricks are really heavy. Also I wanted the ability to run Photoshop and Lightroom when away from my home because the main purpose a laptop serves me when traveling is to edit the photos I took that day. When I'm at home I just use my DIY PC for that but on the road obviously I can't take my huge tower. I didn't wan't the 16" since my previous laptop was a Mid 2012 15" Retina Pro and it was way too cumbersome when traveling. Yes it's nice to have the 16" screen when you are actually using it but carrying that thing around in an airport for hours is a literal pain the neck. If I didn't have a power desktop setup at home and the MacBook was my only computer I would have almost certainly bought the 16." But since the MacBook is really just a supplementary/travel computer for me it makes perfect sense. Origionally I bought an iPad Pro when it came out earlier this year because I thought it would be perfect for this purpose but I realized after using it for a few months that when I travel I really need a real computer. The iPad is awesome but it is really more of an awesome accessory for a MacBook than a full fledged computer. It's getting close but it's not quite there yet. In short the MacBook Pro 13" is exactly what someone like me needs it has much more power than the Air but it's only a little bit heavier.
@@Roupization Not yet. So far it's running cool and quite. I haven't really pushed it that hard yet but so far it's a big improvement over my old Mid 2012 15" Retina.
It's a shitty Apple device, we already know it's going to be slow as shit and useless for just about anything, well unless you enjoy watching spinning beach balls.
What would have been intersting to me: Do the lower end CPU confiogurations become as hot as the one shown? Cus if the others run cooler, they may be something for the people who need a sustained load

Anyways I was sitting in class 5 minutes early with my MacBook Air like everybody else and then came this guy who came with his golf bag, took the table next to mine, put it in front of his table, took out an IMac a keyboard and a mouse then a socket extender and went around the classroom looking for a socket.

I like that you guys still bench csgo, even as a meme in a macbook review. You're like the only channel that still does it, and the reason I ended up with a 9700k at the time lol.
I dont know why I keep having to say this: if a laptop costs more than 800 dollars and doesn't have a dedicated gpu, it should not exist. The asus zepharus GAwhatever manages to be thin, light, decently powerful, has a good battery life, comes with a 120hz screen, and has and has a 1660ti. I am both baffled and confused as to why other manufactures don't copy it.
Honestly, adding a dGPU to the MacBook’s terrible cooling would cause it to go over 120 degrees. These laptops are for the coffee shop and possibly as an Exel laptop, and they will never need a GPU. The only reason I can think of going with Apple is for MacOS
Why use chrome in the battery test on the macs when using edge chromium on the XPS? If you're using the default on Windows, you should use the default on the Macs. Chrome in Mac OS is super inefficient so that would probably be why the XPS lasted longer. You could always ramp up the fans with 3rd party software. You didn't show how loud the machines were relative to the temps though :(
7:36 Oh Apple. "Shall we pass on these new energy savings to the consumer by giving them better battery life?" "No make the battery smaller so we save money on our $1400 machine."
Given the huge optimization stuff Apple does down to making tiled internal batteries and undervolting processors (possibly even sourcing binned ones), they probably found a balance between battery and cooling, and decided their old runtime was sufficient for a bit more CPU speed. There is no wasted space inside Apple products to make things "cheaper". Batteries are the cheap part nowadays, at least during production (don't get me started on replacement costs for Macs).
2020 MBP'S battery is barely smaller (0.4% reduction in capacity) than 2019 model's, though. The difference is so insignificant that you can consider it as a margin of error.
I feel you, but let's be fair hear bruh: 0.2 Whr isn't really a reduction by any practical sense. That really is margin of error, and I don't know why Linus didn't just say they're the same size.

I mean, I don’t feel like I would like this too much
Totally, my Ryzen 7 never goes beyond 89-90 degree C even when on boost. That too when the same tests were conducted on my laptop.

That would be near impossible. It would be a multi year process with several computers running at full tilt for years. (It would need to be >10 computers to be statistical relevant.)
Look at any repair videos. If they didnt die via water damage, macs die after a few years tops on average due to cooking themselves to death. Look up Rossman repair
There is practical evidence found from older systems that EVERYONE has, not just macbooks.

What the heck do I believe :(
(Using a Mac for Logic Pro X, so telling me to use Windows is not an option sadly.)
Looks like you need to upgrade to the Mac Pro Desktop... Buy bye wallet! XD
But in all seriousness, a laptop is just a word processor with a keyboard and screen, aside from one of those 15lb Windows laptop monstrosities, no laptop is going to provide the desired sustained performance, it simply isn't possible thermally. I guess the solution (other than the desktop) would be to only use the laptop screen and no external monitors. Also re-do the thermal paste.

Linus, more real-life vlogs! love to see you having fun with you're family!
He is a family?
Who's gonna talk about him growing a Beard in 2 months???!
How long is it normally supposed to take to grow a beard? For some people it's faster than others
The LTT Community has been talking about it since he has it, though.
most niggas can grow a beard in 1 month tbh. You just gotta go to the gym every day.

Why does UA-cam have UA-cam premium. I pay for it every month and I still see loads of ads in videos I may as well just cancel it pointless
Sounds like a bug dude, call up support.
Edit: I'm an idiot....

Haha very good 😂
Wdym I have UA-cam premium and I'm not seeing any ads
Apple has been running Intel CPUs close to their thermal limit for a decade now.
Linus in 2020: „That’s illegal!“
thank you so much for putting "higher/lower is better" under the graphs. it was really helpful
Me after returning to the channel after 1 year
Me:huh, where's Linus
If you look at Notebookcheck's review of the "supposedly faster" XPS 13, I think it has a TDP-up setting to 25W but it only lasts a few minutes before reverting to 15W, which is where the MBP 13 without so much difference on paper shines with its 28W TDP.
I am an accountant, how come noone considers us as “pros”, what computer do I need for heavy spreadsheets and my accounting software?
Use a sheet of paper
Yeah, that is what I thought. It seems like Apple-Fans are more and more reduced to people working in the creative industry only :-/ But what about R, Stata, heavy spread sheets or ArcGis...?
@@meh6346 😂😂😂😂
"larger cache"
*laughs in ryzen 3rd gen*
That only apply in anything but the mobile Zen 2. Renoir actually has much lesser cache at 8MB L3 compare to Matisse at 32MB L3 for 8 Core CPU.
You cn easily achieve cooler temperatures by installing mac fan control and setting the fan profile to custom based on cpu core 1 so that min temp =45°c and max temp =70°C
Keeps the laptop only warm after this settings
Yes, cooler and SLOWER
Apple Customers: WE DON'T LIKE THE TOUCH BAR
Apple: Put it on every model? Sure!
In short the MacBook Pro 13" is exactly what someone like me needs it has much more power than the Air but it's only a little bit heavier.
does it run hot though? Have you noticed that?
@@Roupization Not yet. So far it's running cool and quite. I haven't really pushed it that hard yet but so far it's a big improvement over my old Mid 2012 15" Retina.
@James Bond Still fine. Still liking it a lot.
Funny how no-one here has even watched the video yet lol
Nice
You do know availability skews a bit as it rolls out through the world's data centers right?
ok
It's a shitty Apple device, we already know it's going to be slow as shit and useless for just about anything, well unless you enjoy watching spinning beach balls.
JS 09 you clearly didn’t watch the video. Its performance is over XPS.
What would have been intersting to me: Do the lower end CPU confiogurations become as hot as the one shown?
Cus if the others run cooler, they may be something for the people who need a sustained load
It's weird that Apple makes lightning port for iPhones, iPads, Magic Mouses, but not for Macs.
Lol this reminds me of the time when a guy from my class brought an iMac to school. I go to a swanky private school so windows and android devices don’t exist at all. Anyways I was sitting in class 5 minutes early with my MacBook Air like everybody else and then came this guy who came with his golf bag, took the table next to mine, put it in front of his table, took out an IMac a keyboard and a mouse then a socket extender and went around the classroom looking for a socket.
In my public school Android and Windows don't exist except for in the computer science class
You should take a look at how the MacBook air is cooled😂 I would love to see the look on your face linus
Gotta love the placebo effect.
Dude, Apple is so far ahead of everyone that they are using wireless heatpipes, don't you dare diss them!
Imagine Apple commenting on this!😂
How do I turn the freaking automatic subtitles off? It's really anoying when watching on a phone, and just as anoying having to turn them off manually every time i watch a LTT video. The menu is not excactly the Best..
Love the channel btw. It has been great intertainment in these corona lock down weeks. Keep it up ;)
andfox three dots in the top right, then captions -> off
Just use UA-cam vanced if you're on Android.
@@camerongemmell2354 i'm using UA-cam vanced and also get the subtitles. Not on All ltt Videos though. Seems to enable itself randomly after a couple of Videos. Even after reinstalling UA-cam vanced and making sure they are not enabled in the settings, they keep appearing and i have to disable them again. Very annoying. Seems to be a Bug, had it for a a couple of months now.
If you're using vanced, do what the guy above said with the 3 dots, and then go into library->tap your profile in top right->settings->vanced settings->video settings->automatic caption off.
It's supposed to only turn on when muting but it's kinda buggy.
Also, check the captions setting, in the page before vanced settings.
And yeah, on regular youtube app library->tap profile pic top left->settings->captions->off
I just wanna say I've learned so much from you guys and I also love the new intro.
thanks Linus. Been debating on my personal portable machine to pair with my iMac
And it seems I may have to bite the bullet for the 16" or wait for the next gen 13" or Dare I say the 14"!
I thought Linus liked small things...
Nice
Just right for his hands
i only doesnt like it top-heavy
No, that's Yvonne
I like that you guys still bench csgo, even as a meme in a macbook review.
You're like the only channel that still does it, and the reason I ended up with a 9700k at the time lol.
"...what I can recommend though", is something powered by a Ryzen 4000 mobile chip...
Giles Turner don’t forget the apple eco system :))
I don't want a dedicated GPU in my laptop, I don't have any need for it.
Dude that's a 15.6 inch laptop tho...
@@truegamer_007 I still think a dgpu could work in a 13 inch if the manufacturer went AMD
You didn't show how loud the machines were relative to the temps though :(
It's called the Macbook Air because it uses air for heat transfer between the CPU and the fan instead of a heatpipe.
Fun fact: All MacBook will be hot after you upgrade to macOS Catalina
Catalina is the worst macOS ever....
not true: Macbook Air 2012 runs fine..
7:36 Oh Apple. "Shall we pass on these new energy savings to the consumer by giving them better battery life?" "No make the battery smaller so we save money on our $1400 machine."
next year they will give us the 14" screen and a thicker body for the airflow and battery life and people will praise apple for finally listening :)
Plasmaboo MBP 16”, IPhone 11 Pro? Both got thicker to solve issues arising from how thin the predecessors were
Given the huge optimization stuff Apple does down to making tiled internal batteries and undervolting processors (possibly even sourcing binned ones), they probably found a balance between battery and cooling, and decided their old runtime was sufficient for a bit more CPU speed.
