From The Yellowjackets' bassist's first solo outing 'Arc', An eclectic mixture of grooves and melodies. This is one of the best cuts featuring Scofield and Redman.
I played bass bone on a big band arrangement of this. Everyone in our band HATED this tune in the beginning. By the time performance rolled around, no one wanted to put it down! So much fun.
I hope that more people are as moved by the music of this song,as I have been over the years. My God, this is a powerhouse of an example of why a musician shold pick up his instrument in the first place! The unselfishness of allowing the entire band to shine even on a solo endeavor is what makes this gifted player worth listeningt to! I love this man's playing style, and his openess to convey the idea of the song, and not his ego! Go for more Jimmy H! Brilliant!
This track is a perfect example of why Haslip is such a great bassist; His playing is all about making the music work, not about drawing attention to himself. Nice playing by Scofield and Redman, too. Thanks for posting the music!
very cool. first time i'd heard this tune was the take with the WDR Big Band. love both versions. usually happens when it's a quality composition to begin with ;)
One of my favourite tunes of all time. The guest musicians are all on fire!
This song really touch my heart . I love it .
