Friday was very confusing for me and I watched about 6 videos on it and everyone taught it wrong except one woman who helped me alot and i actually figured it out and beat it 3 times and then got bored of it but it's really fun game once you learn it. All i can remember about the Lady who taught it the best on UA-cam is that she had Blue and red nail polish on her nails and tapped the table when she was thinking.
Great video! I just learned planet unknown on BGA and I’m loving it solo! I can’t wait to purchase it so I can have the tactile experience! Thanks for the solo content! 😊
So many titles to add to my list! Planet unknown seems fun. I've been playing Horrified solo lately and castles of caledale (for a more peacefull solo game). Now I'm going to be getting Final Girl as my next, not sure which feature film to start with though!
Ohhh I've been really wanting to try Horrified solo! Hopefully this coming spooky season! 👻 Nice! I really enjoyed the Frightmare on Maple Lame one! But there are so many of them I haven't tried! Madness in the Dark also looks great!
Great video! My recent new solo games have been Harmonies, Proving Grounds, and Architects of the West Kingdom. All three are very good. Harmonies has feeling of Azul, Reef, Calico, and others but is definitely its own game. Proving Grounds is a challenging real time game of fighting for your life in an arena. Architects is a great worker placement game with a good solo mode that makes we want to play more worker placement games.
@@TheBoardGameGarden It really is a great solo game. The first night I had a complete copy, I played it 3 times. I normally don't do that sort of thing. It's that fun. I haven't played it multiplayer yet.
I really love Wyrmspan! I also enjoy how easy the Automa is. My biggest experience with Automa is Scythe, but I didn't like how much work it was to figure out turns. The simplicity in Wyrmspan definitely helps me get it to the table more often.
Wow what great video Jenna. I love hearing about your soloing experience because I tend to do the majority of my gaming that way. The Earth expansion looks intriguing but since I just got the base game which is based largely on your description of it I will wait at least a week or two before buying that. 😅. Terraforming Mars the Dice game I got for Christmas from my son and am still learning it but seems fun solo.
Planet Unknown is so freaking amazing!! Honestly its in my Top 10 of all time. I also agree its better in person, its fun on BGA but person just feels so cool! I still need to try ArcheOlogic! Some games I love playing solo are Three Sisters, Cartographers & Ramen! Ramen!
I played over 10 games of Friday and didn't get past the green round, so I watched a strategy video of it and found that the recommended strategy made sense but is completely counter intuitive to my typical gaming choices. Now that I've changed may strategy I get to the pirates stage about 1 in every 3 games.
Oh I've been mega interested in playing Terraforming Mars Dice. It looks like something I'll really enjoy. Have you ever played Roll for the Galaxy? It's awesome (plus, so quick that it would always let you up for another game).
If Jenna (or others in the community) are attending GenCon or PAX U this year, Connie and I will be there again! Jenna, if you come by when we're running demos, I'll do a better job of being on the lookout for you than last time!
I think Friday is a lot better in the app version, and I normally have strong dislike for online/app board games. It felt more calming to me because you're just tapping the cards without too much thought rather than flipping cards and thinking about card piles. Once you've beat it once however it becomes boring quickly (although perhaps meditative like solitaire) since you'll likely then win every time.
Yeah for sure! I'm such a perfectionist when it comes to card piles and the way a game looks on the table. So I can see the app being a lot better for me! I'll have to try it. 😊
I've never played Friday but it does seem to be a staple in most solo gamers' collections. Glad to hear you've been enjoying Planet Unknown solo. It's a lot of fun and surprisingly challenging, in my opinion. I see that you have Sankore on your shelf behind you. Have you tried that one solo? It's such a smooth, simple AI system. The only drawback to me is that I felt like it became too easy. After ten plays I was able to beat the Level 4 AI without too much difficulty. My latest solo plays have been: Ezra and Nehemiah, Sankore: The Pride of Mansa Musa, Voidfall, and Draft and Write Records.
No, I haven't played Sankore solo yet! Only multiplayer and I LOVED it! It's great to hear that the AI is pretty simple. It's a pretty intimidating game just by looking at it but that's great to hear. I'll have to try it soon. 😊
I have a video on tips for winning Friday if you are interested (totally understand if you more want to keep working things out for yourself approach). I think terraforming Mars The Dice Game is better for solo than multiplayer. Still pales in comparison to Ares Expedition and the original TM.
I'm not sure that it's the art itself that is the issue with Wyrmspan, but more the card design. The dragons are gorgeous, no question, but the card layout I find is a step back from Wingspan.
Like Peter said, For Northwood is a wonderful solo tricktaking game! I also love Seas Of Strife, Shamans, The Crew and Joraku! I've only played Kings: Tricktakers and Xylotar once but both of those I really enjoyed as well! 😊
My showcase wall theme this month is Space. TM:Dice Game is on the wall. I still need to get it to the table this month. I've played Planet Unknown on BGA only 2-3 player. Is it really that good solo?
Friday: You absolutely have to understand the story: You are Friday and are completely fed up with Robinson Crusoe, a clumsy person like no other. You are so annoyed that you absolutely want to help him so that he can leave the island again. That is your goal. And although it is a solo game, we play the game in pairs: We have fun making decisions for Friday together so that Ronbison can leave the island and Friday can enjoy the island and life in peace again. Planet Unknown is my favorite solo game (> 100 games): It is incredibly fun and, depending on the planet, company and event cards, can be really challenging. A personal question: Your pronunciation is extraordinarily clear and precise, I understand every word. I come from Germany and have visited the USA several times: I have probably never come across such clear pronunciation before. Natural talent or is there another reason?
Good to know more of the story behind it! Thank you! And yeah Planet Unknown is fantastic! I can see it become one of my favourite solo games as well! HAHA! I'm not sure! I've been doing UA-cam for 10 years now so maybe I have just learned to speak very clear? I do mess up words sometimes and I just edit them out. 😂
I think I prefer Planet Unknown solo mainly because the S.U.S.A.N. just rotates. I've found the selecting of the depot leads to a lot of AP in players (myself included), which makes the game take longer (in a somewhat frustrating way).

Needed this video!! I keep getting overwhelmed and just never pulling the trigger on any game now a list of seven, I can manage.
Glad I could help out! 😊

Ugh! I want Harmonies so bad! I've played it multiplayer so many times and I've been loving it! Seems like the perfect solo game. 😊

I LOVED it so much! So satisfying in person for sure. And nice! Those are some great games!

I've haven't played either Race or Roll for the Galaxy! I really want to. 😊
This past month I played Wyrmspan and Wayfarers of the south Tigris solo, plus Maquis
OHHH NICE! 👏🏻

YAY! I'll definitely have to stop by and say hello! 😊
Busy, busy. Very nice!

Turing Machine is on BGA and it's honestly perfect for playing online.
OHHHH! Good to know! I'll have to learn it soon and give it a try on BGA! Thank you! 😊
great selection of games.
Turing Machine is also by Yoann Levet
OH MY GOODNESS! I didn't even realize that! That makes total sense now!

Ahhh okay! That's understandable. 👍🏻
Would love recs on trick-playing games I want to get more into them ☺️
For a solo trick taking game try For Northwood.
Like Peter said, For Northwood is a wonderful solo tricktaking game! I also love Seas Of Strife, Shamans, The Crew and Joraku! I've only played Kings: Tricktakers and Xylotar once but both of those I really enjoyed as well! 😊

I really need to play Planet Unknown I've heard so many great things but I still haven't played it.
It's wonderful! Do it!

Probably because she is in Canada!!! ;-)
@@juliebggeek6545 I visited Canada too, but only the west. So, probably only the east of Canada is pronuncing so clear:)

Yeah definitely! I really like the simplicity of that as well. You just have to deal with the two options you have each turn. It's a great challenge.
Sky team?
1st!
Woop woop! 😊
