A British outline, G-scale, garden railway
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 чер 2017
- Another attempt* with the oddly proportioned but vaguely-British-outline garden trains - and a more recent phone with a better camera.
Much of the soundtrack comes from the Apple library; the ‘large-logo’ track is an extract from “Search For The Zero Inside Yourself”, Doctor Turtle (freemusicarchive.org) and the scratchy but agreeable 1930s stuff is by Harry Bidgood’s Good Boys.
(* I deleted the first, rather lo-res, effort)

Charming line with ingenious, fun, locos and stock👍✌️💜😊 It keeps the cat entertained too😀😀
Incredibly creative layout and rolling stock! They really do look very British and you've done a great job of capturing their looks. I like that fictional DMU!
I find this layout quite humorous and very entertaining. The railbus isn't weird but it is cute.
A very enjoyable video of a nicely done garden railway.
What a great railway - i really love the way youve created some really interesting bits of rolling stock. How to be creative and have fun with this hobby of ours 😀
Thanks very much again for all the kind comments
It's a great layout liked the cat also.Richard Courtney Adelaide south Australia 🇦🇺
Thanks very much. I’m happy with the cat joining in, though she’s got a bit arsey in recent years. Still appears in videos occasionally though.
Fantastic work. Great kits and conversions...I have on of those (exprimental railbus) at 4:40...That's a very good conversion. That's a great looking layout, too. I enjoyed the running sessions at the end :) Liked and subscribed. All the best.....Tom
Lovely video and rolling stock. Great work!
Thanks a lot!
nice

History never gave the UK Metre Gauge Railways like Germany, look at the Harz and sundry other ones that have exact reduced sized trains on the Metre Gauge. What you have sone works very well and gives us a feel of what if we had have had a large network of Metre Gauge lines taken over by BR on Nationalisation and updated. Brilliant job.
very nice models
Love this video and I've subscribed
Oh forgot to add, love the scaredy cat!
I am looking to track down some of these kits and sets since I'm looking to build every single continent to scale. and the UK is most certainly on the list. just what kits and sets would I need exactly for building a G scale version of the UK?
The tank engine at the beginning of the video was a GRS UK kit (see my response to first comment for details of the other stuff). There are also several other UK-based outfits who sell kits of narrow-gauge British outline, online (not that I’ve made any of them).
‘Mainline’ standard-gauge would have to be Gauge 1 or 3 and tends to be brass kits and significantly more expensive (I haven’t made any of those either).
Accucraft UK have done some very nice ready-to-run narrow-gauge locos and rolling stock.
Excellent video. Loved it. Please can you let us know what models featured in the film that have been adapted/scratch built/re-painted? They look fantastic and are inspirational. Thanks, Paul
That's very generous, thank you. The tank engine and green coaches are GRS kits or adaptations; the 'large logo' railbus started out as a Newqida coach; the 2-6-0 locomotives are built from plasticard on 'James' chassis (which are sometimes available quite cheaply from the US) with white metal fittings mainly from GRS. The Playmobil is really just a repaint.
You're welcome. Thanks for explaining the source for your fantastic conversions. I think I must have a go myself, maybe with a simple repaint/detailing project to begin with. Keep up the good work.
Dodgy Video I second this, these are some really nice builds, if you make any more you should make some videos of the process! Much more interesting to see someone modify/scratch build an engine than just assembling a kit. Do you know the name/number of that playmobil train? Those older engines that ran on electrified rails are quite hard to come by now!
Thank you. The Playmobil Passenger Train set was 4011. It was battery powered with hand-held radio control, not track powered. They seem to come up for sale on that auction site reasonably often...
@@DodgyVideo_G-scale Is the center coach on the Playmobil a factory model? The only one I can find has two large roll-up doors in the middle.
the railbus gives me alot of class 60 vibes
Absolutely. The cab design was ‘informed’ by staring at photographs of Class 60s
Where did you get the G gauge British locos etc?
This video’s six years old now, at least. Some of it was scratch-built, other stuff adapted, narrow-gauge kits or mildly fiddled with, ready-to-run rolling stock. Details in the reply to the first comment to this video.
Locos in subsequent videos are generally scratch built.
The Railbus front looks like the Network Rail MPV
Blimey! It does. I’d not seen that before - I had to look it up. They must have glanced at a picture of a Class 60 too...
Where can you find these models? What brand are they?
Some are scratch-built, along with adapted kits and messed about ready-to-run rolling stock. Details in the reply to the first comment to this video.
Any one know where to buy them from
They’re a mix of scratch builds, adapted narrow gauge kits and RTR rolling stock - and repainted toys (details in one of my first comments)
