Well let's put credit where credit is due and that adds up to the sweet van. You guys did a fantastic job I'll give you and your people all involved a high 10.👍😎
Yes a video on the AC unit........
Beautiful build! I love the AC system, very compact and frees up precious roof space for more solar and potential storage. As someone who has a small family, I am very interested in the rear bench seating that converts into a fold out bed you find in European class bs like Westfalia and the Ford Nugget. Other than "Storytellers" vans, I don't see anyone using this type of bench seat/bed set up. If you do ever have a client who has one installed, would love to see one in action. Not sure if these are even road legal in the States? Thanks for the video.
Question: What was the model of induction cooktop you used? Also, those cruise ACs are nice, but you can install a mini split for maybe $800, and if you know what you are doing, some run on DC power. They just have an inverter so you people can plug them in. The build looks awesome! Love the awning as well!
The AC system used is a "Cruise n' Comfort" 12v DC system. Link is in the description, go grab one; they are awesome!
Campo Vans how many BYU’s is the A/C unit
I really like their systems but disappointing they don't have a 24V system that has the same output as their 12V system.
but you never came back to it to show how well it cooled the van down...
@@chtomlin Hi on the road to reduce your voltage just take an earth halfway between two batteries and then you will have your 12 Volts. Also if you look again at the site they do supply one for 24V
Boo No price ! On ac on link
Would also like to know more about the dinette seat please.
The cutting board solution is brilliant. Elegant Simplicity at its' best. The solar panel mounts on the roof looked interesting. I am going to look around your site to see what you did there. Great work.
Awesome, can I ask Santa for one (I've been a really good boy :-)
The awning is "super clutch" 😂😂
it is :D
@French Frys It's pretentious to begin with. It's made up. It's meaningless. It's stuupid, like "Freedom Frys."
You asked.
Great van build. There are two CnC 12v systems on their site. The 5,000 and 8,000 BTU systems. Which do you recommend for a sprinter 170?
A Lemons racer to boot!
wow. I am looking for RV and I thought I had to get Revel, but you have very nice one. How much is the exact same one if I want it. well. I want bunk beds on back side, which also can be extra seating.
Very nice van. The "Cruise n' Comfort" 12v DC A/C system requires a remotely mounted condenser. Was it mounted under this van? If so what have you done to minimize problems with under mounted A/C condensers getting clogged with dirt over time, especially on a 4x4?
Mike, great question! It is an undercounted condenser. Just give them a quick blast of compressed air and you are good to go!
@@CampoVans Undercounter? Doesn't this produce heat? Does it get vented outside somehow?
@@CampoVans Where did you mount it? I see many mounted where the rear spare was, but you had your storage/battery box there (great idea BTW).
Wow, amazing build. Nice work!
Very nice build. I like the battery storage idea. ProAir makes a rooftop 12vdc unit, Coachman has been using them .
Big bucks
Thanks for your video show casing the cruise n comfort ac of which I plan to include in my diy camper. I am a bit concerned about water condensation in the use of an ac unit. From other videos I’ve seen drainage lines routing out such water accumulation. It looks like you are very confident of such drainage having the ac unit above a lot of your electrical units. Have you done anything special to absolutely make your electrical system safe from water dripping on it due to an impacted drain or a drain pan that is not level? How do you prevent spillage and allowing drainage no matter how “not level” the van becomes? Thanks again, All the Best Tam
Very well done. A thumbs up video 👍
would love a link to the dinette seats if that's possible
Me too
I think I found it: GO-ES Foldaway
This is one crazy expensive build
nice job
Thanks Walt
Great job beautiful I think you guys are in Canada there’s nothing like this in United States California those Canadians are awesome
We are from Santa Barbara, CA! But we love Canada, too!
@@CampoVans So the company is located in Santa Barbara
@@CampoVans That’s good to know I will check it out online
The A/C looks like a Cruise N Comfort 12 volt system. They are priced around $4000..
More like 4,500 with the thermostat and delivery i just got a quote and add at least 2 to 3,000 more for installation if your not doing it yourself. That being said i still like it.
@@michaelscarfi6907 For that much cash it is incredibility disappointing it isn't a variable speed compressor.
When you are going to realize the idea of installing an A/C in your RV, go for this one (570.- USD): www.rigidhvac.com/store/products/393758
the draw is on 12v 450 watts. Easy to install, prewired, and it cools down your van without any problem. with a batterybank of over 400 ah, you can run it almost more than a day nonstop, with solar on top, you don't even have to think about powerconsumption. My friend did his conversion with that one, and mine is also already ordered.
i must say, for the price it does a reeeeally good job! no more hot nights or days in your RV. i searched a long time for an A/C of this kind, and they are hard to find.
but here you go :-)
Great video!!! Carlo Huber got anymore information on the ac unit!? Or an Instagram account or anything I can see pictures of the install!! Thanks
Robin Randall I haven’t installed it yet. My Instagram account name is easyMoneyadventures.
450 watts is all up top? With that AC?
By time some one can build a Ac that is a plus in a van good job
Nice work guys, that is a sweet build!
Thanks!
A lot crammed in a small space, with sharp cabinet edges.
If they'd used radius extruded aluminum corner sections, for some of the cabinets it would add safety and functionality. These were used by sailboat manufacturers for the same reason.
A nice build though.
Retired Coach builder. 🇳🇿🇨🇦
Fabulous!
Hi there, what is the fold down seat called and where did you find them? Cheers.
Why would you put a thermostat inside of a cabinet? Anyway, nice build.
So with 400 amp hours that AC lasts “almost” a full night? I want more details on them. I live in a high humidity hot area (Florida) and trying to figure out if they would work for me. Sounds like maybe not.
it should run 8 hr in med(with 30% SOC left) assuming you don't have other high electrical draw(induction stove, etc). I think the issue is if you plan to use it again multiple days. You will need to connect to your alternator and drive for 3-4 hour to charge the battery back to 90% SOC range. Solar will provide some charge when not driving but you might need 1000w or more of panels up in your roof.
The cruise in comfort AC unit. Which one did you guys fit? Looking at the cruise in comfort website I can see 4 models was it the MES-12 MES-24 DC Marine Air Conditioner you guys fitted in the RV?
Can u please do one similar at the end of this year I want to live in a van but a ac that runs all night and a oven for weekend roast is is a must shower and toilet 🙂
Do you have any context as to how the exterior of the fan was painted? I noticed it looks to be the exact same color as the van.
Nice van! The fold down bench seat/ passengers seat. Where can I buy that ? ! Thanjs
@Barry Barry yes well done 'Barry' you know how to write. Now please learn how to get a life and grow up
Awesome job, well done
What’s that running board on the van it looks WAYYY better than the one installed, it extends out enough to step down on when exiting the slider door. Mine is tightly tucked in where you can only step UP when entering. Nice build C.V.
Thanks for the compliments! The side steps are from AMP Research
NICE
That's a sweet A/C system but why is the thermostat in a cabinet? That will never yield accurate readings. Did I miss something?
I wish you guys could just go here in the Philippines i would.love to have you guys build.me a van
Cool space saving with the folding seating. What is it called?
What's the average price for a build low to high end? thanks dave
I think a dedicated bathroom would make this build more compelling.
I am the same way. Why make a van this nice and not have a bathroom? The only reason to have an off grid van is to be away from places with facilities most of the time. I do not mind taking a dump in the woods but in winter and late at night that is a pain in the behind. Also if you are off grid but in an area with any people at all this is not feasible because you may have the cops called on you.
Let me tell you from experience that not having a bathroom in the van is a very big problem, and that goes for almost anywhere you are staying. But don’t take my word for it and watch your dream van life become very problematic instantly. Also the outdoor shower is going to get old real quick. Real quick.
Is the compressor/condenser unit inside the van? If so, how do you expel the heat it generates to the outside? Any cooling effect would be negated by the heat generated by the unit. Just curious...
Very nice set up. Just curious. What does that particular van weigh in at fully fueled ? Thanks.
Very nice ! 🚌
Who made the spare tire storage box?
WE PUT A CC AC IN A PIECE OF EQUIPMENT IT BLOWS COLD AND IS VERY COMPACT AND WELL BUILT BUT THE UNIT WE HAD PULLED 80 AMPS ENGINE ALT COULD NOT KEEP UP.
I'm sorry to hear this! It sounds like you could have installed a higher output unit.
Exhaust pipe looks a bit close to the lithium battery box. Shouldn’t be a problem if you got a temp sensor on your Battery Management System. Overall, very sweet build.
They should install a heat shroud, especially when the diesel DPF is in it's Regen cycle.
hi. so i think the videos got switched? this isn't about van air conditioning - it's holiday gift giving.
You might be referencing an advertisement at the beginning of the video?
How much this cost to convent
that AC looks *cherry!* lol, i just checked the price though, and it's like $5K/unit. O_O
Nice van build and the cabinets had a fun color scheme. Not enough shown on AC which is why I came here. The induction cooktop is the biggest scam ever. Now you need special pans and a huge drain on energy. Get a propane stove or a butane one.
Why are the thermostats in an enclosed cabinet?
where is the AC sensor? If it's in the cabinet as the small holes in the display suggests them it's not going to be accurate because it is effectively insulated.
So that unit is an AC & Heat system then....nice build
Actually just AC. We added a separate hot air system.
I am only here for the dad-jeans.
Whats the cost of a van like that but with gas hob and no a/c thanks
@Jessi Louis Im pretty sure you couldn't by the material for that number.
@4:21 the AC is above all the electronics? AC's can leak right?
Thanks for your question, Chris. The AC actually has a drain that goes onto the ground so that there is no risk of the electronics getting wet.
Fancy.
Hi buddy, how tall are you? To get an idea about the headspace one has within the van. Cheers!
What brand is the AIR CONDITIONING, A/C power or DC?
Hi David! Check out Cruise n Comfort for all your 12v DC power air-conditioning needs!
What was the specific model name for the AC? Is it the marine version?
Hi any problems with sprinter thinking to buy 4x4
Grab one, they are awesome. Just opt for the extended warranty as you can almost guarantee you will need to replace the entire Blue Def system at about 90k miles (at least an 8000 dollar job).
I was noticing the thermostat. Why that type and not digital?
Does the AC use an external condenser with fan or recirculating water ?
External Condenser
Campo Vans am I correct to assume it’s mounted under van ?
That is amazing I want that van, but just not a Mercedes I like to see a Dodge ProMaster or Ford Transit do you build those as well?
What about the air conditioner
I really like the AC unit but it is quite expensive. Have you thought about using a marine AC that circulates your fresh water tank for the cooling? I know eventually you are going to run out of cooling capacity depending on the size and water level of your tank. They are about a half the price
What is the BTUs and voltage of the unit you installed
What is the music at the beginning?
What was the ac unit?
The AC never cycles off?
No shower?
would you built one in cancun mexico?
this needs poptop
Why would you put the thermostat's in a cupboard it would get very annoying trying to walk around the van leaving the cupboard door open so the thermostat can do its job
mounting lithium batteries outside. if it gets cold it will ruin those batteries.
Ben, thanks for your concern. Thankfully, we've thought of that. A main heating element for the hot air/hot water system keeps that storage box hot even during cold temperatures. Cheers!
What brand is the Air Conditioning Unit please
Hi Giff, thanks for asking. Cruise n Comfort!
I'm talking about a car is not running but you're trying to use it off a portable unit with batteries or solar recharging say your air conditioner does not work in your car but you don't want to be running your engine or burning up gas at $7 a gallon while you're trying to pull the system eventually you have to turn the car off it's not going to work
Any AC can run all night, cause it not as hot. But can it run all day when it is the hottest.
No bathroom ☹️
No pee, no poop?
These a/c units are nice but at around $5000 I'll pass.
Wow thats way too expensive. I would’nt spend a $1000 on AC much more than $5000 thats crazy. But if you have the money it would’nt be an issue
@Daniel S I agree. The hardest part of having rv a/c is proper sizing. We're trying to cool a small space with doors opening all the time. The best we can hope for is humidity control if the unit runs enough to remove it.
Does does not look like anyone has solved the problem with the air conditioning in the van all attempts at fails in Arizona and the hot desert heat Upper 90 there's almost no air conditioning that works or swaps already type of device actually works
just the same as any other van build these days
How about a silent mini split heat pump ac that will use a fraction of the energy and provide heat? Check out thelostbox on Instagram.
Which unit are you taking about ?
It's all good until we start talking about pricing? 5K? Yeah thanks but no thanks, should be 2.5K at MAX!
So you spend $100K on a van and you still have to shit in a truck stop bathroom?!
Only rich people apply which is kind of the opposite reason why people consider living in a van.
Wow who won the lottery ? Prices are even realistic unless u Young & wealthy might as well buy a readymade RV . My Frigidaire 5k unit , solar panels 400 watts , mounts , 400amp agm batteries controls wires etc came in 1500$ Less than that little unit .
Those ac units are like $5k! I guess go ahead if you have stupid money to waste..
it's supper "Clutch"?? WTF does that mean
Useful!
@@CampoVans Thanks brah
@@CampoVans Hahahahhahahhahaha
Zero info about the AC system and your test never showed anything?! What a waste of time
expensive and very Loud
Very bad color inside
