Barry didn't use his falsetto much until mid to late 70's. Usually, his brother, Maurice did the falsetto. This song along others from the soundtrack of 1977's Saturday Night Fever made them internationally well known! Besides singing, Brothers Gibb (Bee Gees) wrote at least 1,000 songs for other artists such as Barbara Streisand.
You know, before Bee Gees stood for _Brothers Gibb_ they were called "The BG's"; affected from the common initials between Barry Gibb, Bill Goode (Promoter who initially met them and whose contact was Gates), and Bill Gates (The Brisbane DJ that officially discovered the Gibb brothers, and gave the band its name). The name then evolved from The BG's to the _Bee Gees_ which, of course, came to mean the Brothers Gibb.

The Gibbs boys lived next door to me in Queensland, Australia for several years, renting one of our properties from us. The boys sang songs for me at my 3rd birthday. That was 63 years ago. I still remember that day. Our families were very close.
The all had great falsettos, Barry is the only one still alive now but if you check out “Fanny be tender with my love “ you will see Barry and Robin’s falsettos and Maurice is singing lower key more bravado . Anyway great reaction 😃
The Bee Gees were the background music of my early teen years. They wrote some beautiful songs. On a separate note RIP Taylor Hawkins. We lost a giant in the rock world last night.
The BeeGees were: Barry Gibb, born September 1, 1946, the only surviving Gibb brother. Robin Gibb, born December 22, 1949-passed away May 20, 2012, and Robin's fraternal twin brother Maurice (pronounced "Morris") Gibb, born December 22, 1949-passed away January 12, 2003. They also had another, younger, brother Andy Gibb, born March 5, 1958-passed away March 10, 1988. The three oldest brothers were born on the Isle of Man (UK). Oldest brother Barry got seriously burned when he accidentally pulled boiling tea over himself at 18 months old. He was in coma for a while, nearly died and was in hospital for many months. Because of this, he did not learn to talk until after the twins were born. Later the family moved to Manchester and from there they emigrated to Australia in 1958, right after Andy was born. Their musical career, which they had started as little kids, didn't lead to international success so they moved back to the UK in 1966. Then they had a string of big hits, until they temporarily broke up around 1970 for 15 months. Started back up, looking for a new sound which they first found in 1974 with the transitional album "Mr. Natural". After that "Main Course" was the first album that moved them into a new direction: more rhythm&blues, dance music like with great hits like Nights on Broadway and Jive Talkin'. From 1976 on they went all out with falsetto driven dance music which lead to their biggest commercial success as they provided classic songs for the Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack (1977 Stayin' Alive, How Deep is Your Love, Night Fever amongst them). You should react to the 1979 live version of Stayin' Alive, too ua-cam.com/video/7niXSh7vWRI/v-deo.html Other great songs to analyze: great album tracks from the 1979 Spirits Having Flown album, the title song: ua-cam.com/video/WH_j90fCIk4/v-deo.html, the outrageously beautiful song Reaching Out ua-cam.com/video/vfHUS5Mf00Q/v-deo.html. If you want to hear All of their big hits, you have about 40 more to go. They also wrote songs for Celine Dionne, Barbara Striesand,Dionne Warwick, Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton.
with How Deep is Your Love from the Brothers Gib starts a alltime record of six number one hits in a row on the US Top 100 Billboard Charts - which this tune spend a half year 1978 and also a record for eternity for this best love ballad ever - a favorite on all weddings first dance tunes and one of the most covered song in pop history 🏅🕺🔥You must have to try Fanny be Tender and For Whom the bells tolls - the live version in LA from 1994 - simply Barrys falsetto is epic 🔥
These guys were born in England but moved to Australia at a very young age. They got their start on Australian tv. then moved to the US and became very famous. Another from Australia you should react to is John Farnham (AKA the voice) If you react to his video's make sure they are the live performances. A good one to start with would be his cover of the Beatles Help. but be warned this is a very deep rabbit hole, this guy can sing the phone book and make it something special. Van
Barry has a huge voice range. He has a lower chest voice the the high head voice ( falsetto). Great R & B group! Check out Nights on Broadway ( the midnight special version); a good funk sound is Love you inside and out. To love somebody, the 1967 version, Alone ( official video), love so right, Fanny be tender with my love, country lanes, Blue Island ( MTV version).
A later song from the Bee Gees from their 1997 album STILL WATERS, is CLOSER THAN CLOSE. Maurice Gibb sings lead on this and it is a beautifully sensuous song. It is worth a listen.🎶🎤🎶
Well, the older brother, Barry, has also a very powerful chestvoice. And yes, his falsetto-singing is kinda not to bear. For excample, check'em out with a song called 'Heavy Breathing', to find on YT, so that's a funking-rock banger.
Their will never be another group like them. They just take you to another place! Watch Fanny be tender with my love. Quincy Jones said it was his favorite song, alot of soul
Their great masterpiece, among about a couple of dozen. Barry regarded as his faves many songs he and his brothers wrote. Thanks for returning to my favorite band of musicians, songwriters, and overall members of the human race. I think you both would enjoy "Jive Talkin'" or "More Than a Woman" or maybe the late 1960's -1973 period-- "To Love Somebody" or "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart."
@Life- The Begees voices sound the same when they are harmonizing but very different when they are singing by themselves. For example react to I started a joke which is Robin singing lead and you will see what I am talking about. The Bee Gees were genius at layering their vocals. Barry and Robin are singing high and low octaves - then they layered the tracks on top of each other. That's why it sounds like so many vocals. Of course, this was before technology could do this for you...they each sang different parts perfectly lining up the words and vibratos of their voices. Again, genius I tell ya!
The Bee Gees recorded over 1000 songs and wrote big hits for other artists. I'm always amazed at their limitless talent. According to interviews, they were very humble and generous guys.

1978 was the biggest year in the BeeGees history not since the Beatles in 1964 has one band dominated the charts.Of the 12 top sellers of that year the BeeGees wrote 5 including 3 of their own,one for Frankie Valli and the years biggest selling song Shadow Dancing by brother Andy.
All four brothers could reach the high notes, I'm guessing you're aware that Sir Barry as he is now had three other brothers and I think one sister, who didn't go into the business, Andy the youngest died back in the 1980's then Maurice in the early 00's who was also married too singer Lulu in the 60's and then Robin around 2015

The harmonies from the 3 of them are so great. The acts in the 70s that I can recall having just as good harmonies as Bee Gees is Chicago, ABBA, Bread, Ambrosia. So many great harmonizing acts back then.

Horizontal is a good song to react to. It's from their first album and long before the disco era. It was 1967. About ten years before HDIYL.
Just watch Saturday night feaver, with John Travolta. all Bee gees songs are there.
I'd listen to the Bee Gee's sing anything, in any language. lol I don't even need to understand the words.
This song is fantastic, the lyrics are so deep... Awesome vocals
One of the twins sings lead on 'I Started a Joke' , the one without a beard.
