      Vietnamese people were killed Vietnam killer La Rogue 'Red Army also in Cambodia and Losa. Before American troops arrived. Most of these people are Communist
      From China CCP families in North Vietnam War. As far Colin Powell he made the statement's to cover up what George W Bush did on 911.

    Journalist Gary Webb supposedly died by suicide by shooting himself in the head twice. Webb is best known for his "Dark Alliance" series, which appeared in the Mercury News in 1996. The series examined the origins of the crack-cocaine trade in Los Angeles and claimed that members of the anti-government Contra rebels in Nicaragua had played a major role in creating the trade, using cocaine profits to support their struggle. It also suggested that they may have acted with the knowledge and protection of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

    Its debatable on how what socialism should really stand for and how it is defined. Its really tough that terms such as for example "Marxist" can be used in a derogatory way to defame an idea, a movement, or maybe a political opponent. Its gotten to the point where words have lost meaning, or words that are a taboo subject.

    I have to disagree with Howard for the first time ever, I don’t think that the majority of Americans care how many foreign civilians die in a war. I think if you asked Americans if they would be sadder if an American soldier die or an innocent Iraq child, they would overwhelmingly say the child. People feel much more sorry at the loss of someone they know over a stranger, same goes for someone from their hometown as opposed to someone from a distant town, and the further away and less like them the less they care.

  • @agnosticpagan

    It is pathetic that over ten years later, the US media still never reports on Iraqi casualties. Latest estimates are between 100,000 to 1,000,000 civilian dead since no one has any mechanism for tallying deaths. The best estimate for documented deaths is by www.iraqbodycount.org, currently 120,146 - 133,027.

    I was busy writing a comment on a report of Glenn Greenwold about how the political preference of actors influence to be casted for a movie. I guess that if you were having sympathies for socialism in the 1970s, you would quickly be called a 'commie' and thus not being casted. Fast forward: George Clooney is in the news these days for supporting the movement to have Biden step aside and not run for president and Clooney seems to be an important sponsor for the dems. Then I remembered a video with Woody Harrelson in it and did a quick search and found this great interview.
    I am wondering how his political views affect him to be casted for his next movie or has his fame risen so high that it does not affect him.
    I am guessing, but is Woody Harrelson supporting Robert F Kennedy Jr. ? Watching this video I would expect him to do so, not Trump nor Biden. If he does: please support RFK Jr. more openly, more publically.

    • @willyD200
      @willyD200 8 років тому +4

      +jamesryanphoto There is a well documented history of the U.S. going to war for multi-national corporations and the resources they require or want....this in turn gives the government controlled land for military bases also opens the door for world bank loans that help only the corporation and a few of the elite in that country and can never be repaid without handing over the rights to other natural resources , resources that would normally and directly help out the country's citizens. Listen to , "Confessions of a economic Hitman" for first hand accounts of how the U.S. government ran these operations....the media barely reports on many of these conflicts ...some never get mentioned. It depends on the definition. They'd most likely argue that it's democratic because everyone's equal and there is not an economic elite ruling the rest. • @blackphilosopher1
      @blackphilosopher1 9 років тому

      +Matthew Kelly You do realize that, even for the view you are defending, your rationale is skewed. There are better arguments for a general warrant for American intervention (also, ppl not "fleeing the US" is a separate issue, isn't it?; about as irrelevant as citing those who are leaving--like businesses). As you know, you can't just point to WW2 and argue for American intervention. After all, the War was a good economic bet for the planners and administration. And don't take my word for it, look at the documentary record and what came out of the War-Peace studies group. I take it that, at bottom, leftists like Zion, Said, Chomsky and others just want ppl to be able to (a) access the relevant facts about history and western foreign/domestic policy, and (b) not blindly accept what "authorities" tell them. And that the case even if we disagree with them (as will/should probably happen in many cases). There's nothing offensive (save to "authorities") about that.

    • @blackphilosopher1
      @blackphilosopher1 9 років тому +1

      +Matthew Kelly Oh, you're a troll!--I hadn't realized. Cool.
      Also, "US presence on the ground has never meant extermination and persecution of millions"...another joke. Keep trolling, though.

    • @blackphilosopher1
      @blackphilosopher1 9 років тому +1

      +Matthew Kelly "How does responding to you make me a troll?"---Drivel (when you didn't even begin to understand the point that was made--which was just that WWII doesn't justify everything, and also that the US didn't enter the war purely for idealistic aims)?
      As for the joke--there is no sadness. It's just that you have to have a certain skewed view of history to think that US presence "on the ground" hasn't lead to the extermination and persecution of millions. First, in order to have even a modicum of plausibility you cannot include anything from before 1900 (the most obvious example is too blatant to even mention). Secondly, you have to rely on a certain (very narrow) interpretation of "US presence" along with a total dismissal of Vietnam. In any case, placed in the larger context of American intervention (not just direct intervention--I assume you meant extensive operations by American military personal in a foreign country) its accepted that such has caused many, many millions of people to die at various times in the 20th century and for a variety of untoward reasons. Guatemala, East Timor, Ecuador, Nicaragua, etc. (and the list can really go on--we've had an interesting 20th century in terms of foreign policy) are all cases where American intervention has been pernicious for the people there (and not the lesser of two evils). And I didn't put forward any opinion, let alone "idiotic" save that (a) your reasons for supporting American intervention are not as good as they could be, and (b) people like Zinn, at bottom, just want us to question things. Anyways, enjoy the rest of your life.

    • @blackphilosopher1
      @blackphilosopher1 9 років тому +1

      +Matthew Kelly ...you didn't even address any of the mentioned cases (save one--you only mentioned) and you gave instances of your own.
      WW2 was never on the table. I took it that the reason that you even referred to it is that you viewed it as a clear instance of warranted American involvement in a conflict. And, if it were so important, I assumed that you must think that the US went to war with the most idealistic ends in mind. And that ain't necessarily so.
      If you run your 'calculus' through 20th century American foreign policy, the results won't necessarily be positive (far less than you suggest).
      The US didn't really care that Saddam was "exterminating people" as you say. Look at our interactions with him during the 80's.
      I'll just say one thing about one of the cases you offer--you should take a look at the Pentagon Papers (it gives a sense about what the before, during, and (not so much) after, from the "horse's mouth", as it were. And if that's not good enough to question how justified the war was, then I don't know what could be).

      A Socialist, I'm afraid. In another video on UA-cam I saw him equating the destruction of property with civil disobedience. By definition, civil disobedience has nothing to do with property, it has everything to do with rules and rulers.
      There is a distinction between right and left anarchism which highlights perfectly why the latter is an emotionally driven platform, as opposed to a logical one. It is that right anarchists (Capitalism) strive for equality of opportunity where the left anarchists (Socialism/Communism) strive for equality of outcome. The latter inevitably requires the exercise of force to achieve (how else will you prevent some from having a better outcome than others), so the position of left anarchism is itself a contradiction. Equality of opportunity is achieved without the state and very easily as well; simply engage in voluntary interaction instead of coercion. This is true Anarchism.

      I would suggest you get the opinions of left anarchists before being quick to judge on socialism. Left anarchists and right anarchists almost never agree with each other. If you're interested in left wing anarchism feel free to study into mutualism which is a good start.

      I'm kind of a person who believes that left wing anarchism can't be forced, or indoctrinated, and it has to be 100% voluntary. If it goes against those rules, then it has created it's own state. I believe in a pan-capitalist economy, and if you want to run your economy as a communist economy, go ahead, but do not infringe on the rights of others. Everyone hates corporations, but we have decided on different answers.

      Dwight Keller-Williams A 100% voluntary setting is exactly the goal of Voluntaryists such as myself. It is for that reason why I prefer the free markets of Capitalism where I can interact voluntarily with others and not have to worry about the state or other administrative body, as Socialism would dictate. Aside from that, there are also a number of contradictions which plague "left-" anarchism, such as "communal ownership" and wage slavery." The notion of "wage slavery" adds to the likeliness that "left-" anarchism is indeed emotionally driven.

      Left anarchists don't really use the term "voluntary" but rather free association as an alternative. But anyway you can read emma Goldman, Peter Kropotkin for more clarification into anarchism.

    The Scandinavian countries are socialist. France is socialist. They seem to be doing pretty well. Depends on what western country you have in mind. If you are referring to the United States then that would be an economy based on state capitalism. With a welfare program for the rich. Marx society he envisioned was not the society he would have been so eager to see after the 1917 revolution in Russia. The Bolsheviks crushed true socialism and people associate that with soviet totalitarianism.

    That's the question at 48minutes. Until blacks will work through there own history and digest it completely, we all must struggle along together. The day will come when American blacks will take the lead in giving Americans back the American dream, and this partly yet most importantly by recognizing its meaning to themselves firstly and foremost; in so doing all of us will finally defer to the greater good of all citizens our here to for tendency for purely personal gain always at the expense of the other guy. We'll realize, that as Christ teaches, we are all our brothers keeper; all of us must live outside our own egos to the greatest extent humanly possible. President Obama fails in this, but this is way more important than any one flawed person. It's about the perfecting of our democracy, about survival of the fittest democracy, and about stepping it up in by stepping out of deception. www.couragetolaugh.com.

      @voitdive Their continent, if you mean Africa, didn't need improvement. They had a sustainable existence for millenia. Only after colonialism did their ways of life deteriorate, with structural issues famines. Same things with the first nations and the aborigines.

      @@hobbes0022 Do you have evidence as to what Ted Cruz's father did other than a few words spoken by Trump one time. If so I'd loved the see it. Until I see something that mounts to evidence and I'm interested in what you have to say about Ted cruz.
      However.m I have seen Woody's father speaking on the subject himself 8n many interviews that are readily available.
      He claims to have been 1 of 7 shooters who shot Kennedy as well as the fact that he is convicted of shooting a federal judge and is in prison for it.
      So I know what his father did. I don't know what Ted Cruz's father did I have seen 0 evidence.
      If you have it please share it otherwise shut the fuck up.
