Epic. Lot of laughs. Id wonder if loss of habitat to farmland plays into some lower numbers. Pulling out treelines, crp to farmland/pasture, smaller swamps and woodlots get turned to farm and residential. Def happens here in MN.
Specifically right around here and I’ve heard this in other portions of the state as well, old farmsteads, tall grass/CRP type areas/ wind break tree rows etc are being removed to install pivot irrigation systems. I understand the farming needs, 100%, but we have to pay attention to how much of these areas are being removed and whether or not we war countering it with planting other areas with food, or even leaving other portions to go back to wildlife. It just appears like the whitetail world is sort of neglected here over the last 10-15 years. Idk….might just be a wild and unfortunate coincidence, but I fear it’s the latter.
I wish Lucas would talk about eposting on ONX the entire state is red. The future of hunting isn’t bright for ND unless the state plans on stepping up and don’t get me wrong I’m thankful for PLOTs land we need more of that to offset the lack of public ground lost to eposting hate that shit
I hunt a lot of places and like it was stated or at least eluded to North Dakota is the worst and managing the deer herd in their state. With both Muledeer and whitetails just my opinion and I have been bowhunting ND for 30 yrs! Its annoying because I love being there.
I filled out my survey for deer and spring turkey. I have drawn a doe tag for rifle twice in two years in different units but never connected on a doe. I pasted on a nice buck no rifle buck tag.
For the past 2x years now more land owners have gone to eposting. Most people won’t let you goose hunt in a cut wheat field anymore. Fargo doesn’t have the public land that Lucas has in his area without naming it. I shouldn’t have to travel four hours just to hunt whitetails when I live in Fargo. And trust me Lucas doesn’t want me in his neck of the woods killing those few deer. North Dakota has pockets of deer but it’s getting to a point where outfitters will take over charging huge amounts just to tag one deer Maybe I need to head to SD less people to contend with.
I have 5 points for Iowa I was thinking about putting in for 2025 do you have any advice on what unit and or would I be better to wait another couple yrs since EHD has hit hard or should I just go for it wondering what your opinions or thoughts would be Thanks
What podcast did u guys have a guest talk about a three letter organization that helps young people get jobs in the outdoor industry? I belive you were talking about flying around in helicopters for mule deer. Need help figuring out what podcast? Thank you
For a state that has no people more cattle and unlimited supply of oil the Game and Fish of ND plant zero food plots for hunters. We have the money but not the vision. Ducks Unlimited does a great job. Pheasant Forever too. I don’t want to stop hunting whitetails but the state I live in can’t manage the resource. From Fargo to SD boarder during 3x weeks of rifle season in my travels I saw one deer dead on 29 south. Go to Iowa Minnesota or Wisconsin tons of deer killed on the interstates. Do better North Dakota we don’t need to lose another tradition
How can you not love this guy? Great podcast, need to have him on more often.

Friendly criticism…when the guest is showing his giant buck, please show the buck, not the guys looking at the screen lmao
lol sorry not sure what happened there
We need more information about the oil money in ND awesome questions
Found that, so if that’s really all that there is, then yeah, no surprise where we are headed here with this resource.
