Hemel Hempstead is a town in the Dacorum district in Hertfordshire, England. It is 24 miles northwest of London and is part of the Greater London Urban Area.
That's usually by people who are from there and live in Australia! They like to justify moving so far away. Personally, being a Hemelite who has not lived there for 20 years, I think it still has a lot to offer, even where I am from in Highfield - lots of green areas. Sure, it is not the same place from the 80s but people tend to add rose tinted gloss to it. It was rougher then especially Highfield (school!), Adeyfield and Bennets End.
@@spencer4932 I'll tell u it is quite rough now but I've lived there my entire life and ik how to get around I've lived in Bennet's end for my whole life and that's the ends I knew how to get around I knew how to avoid dodgy ppl and places but some part of this slight feeling that makes it feel dangerous makes it home for me
@@twitchlangley Like I said I have not lived there for a long time. Growing up there I never once had any issues with dodgy people or had a car stolen or house break in.
@@spencer4932 Bennets End. Small and pokey homes, no front yards to speak of and narrow roads by today's standards. Best that could be built en masse after WW2. They served their purpose. They got some things right: decent public transport, open spaces, shopping centres and schools. Pity they did not foresee the boom in private car ownership though, with only a few garages scattered here and there. I may return one day to explore my childhood haunts. Yes, I am old enough for nostalgia. 🤔
