- Wilson Asset Management Chairman Geoff Wilson has expressed disappointment over Treasurer Jim Chalmers’ attempt to blame the Reserve Bank for Australia’s economic conditions.
The Treasurer on Monday accused the central bank of “smashing the economy” with rate hikes ahead of the release of the GDP figures on Wednesday.
“The Reserve Bank has to be totally independent and government has got to keep its nose totally out of what the Reserve Bank are doing,” Mr Wilson told Sky News Australia.
Albanese's attempt at politicising the RBA and appointing his own governor appears to have well and truly back-fired on him !

The blame for the economic conditions rest completely with both the Libs and the ALP. Tax corporate profits, ensure a gas reserve, no immigration, stop printing money, start to build industry, stop relying on mining, ensure cheap energy supplies, bring fuel production back to Australia. There is a start.

Someone needs to keep watch over the reserve banks. Over all banking systems to be honest. We need them decentralised so we all have a fair go to make it in life. The centralised system keeps the rich rich & the poor poor!
interest rates are irrelevant to the poor, they are simply unable to get a loan. inflation is the killer for poor people, as they simply don't have the extra money to afford rising costs. that's why the rba focuses on inflation above all else.
