The song was composed by Trina Bellamide as her entry to the 1996 Metro Pop Music Festival, performed by Ima Castro (alternate of Lea Salonga in Miss Saigon). It was revived by Refine Velasquez in the early 2000s before Morisette, then this new version again by Regine.
Hi there,🙂Shine was written by Trina Belamide for a song Competition in the Philippines called Metropop back in 1996. Originally interpreted/recorded by Ima Castro. And it was performed live during the competition by Sweet Plantado🙂Then Regine released her cover back in 2004. Then Morrisette sang it in 2021🙂

She's not the original singer though. It's another Filipino artist named Ima Castro, I believe. I think that's the one. I remember looking up the original version last year.
Rosannasfriend she was chosen to be the original singer for the competition of the said song pero umangal ang mga katunggali niya kasi she’s noted to slay and win kay nabigay kay Imee. Trina wrote the song and imagined Regine singing it.

Shine is an entry in the 1996 Metro Manila Pop Music Festival where it won 2nd place through Ima Castro's interpretation. The song didn't take off as much as it did after Regine Velasquez reprised it in 2005 and has since then been more associated with her discography than the former's. Personally, Morissette A and Katrina V have their own takes on this masterpiece but none has so far replicated, all the more surpassed the level of exquisiteness Regine has put it at.

Great reaction! This version of Shine, along with 7 other songs she sang in this 'mini-concert', was part of a fundraising to support those who are affected by covid-19. Shine was an original song in 1996 performed originally by Ima Castro, the studio version and by Sweet Plantado during the Metropop Music Festival. Regine V. had her version as a background song to a lotion commercial way back 2008. Then, Morisette had a version of it just this year (2021). 😊😊😊

This was written for regine. She was asked by its writer to sing this in metropop song festival (songwriting contest). Reyine was unfortunately not available then so ima castro was asked instead to sing this for the metropop song festival.
But the song was originally intended for regine. And regine was the first to record the song and release it commercially anyway. Ima sang it only for metropop festival once.

Ima's orig version did not reach popular status but when Regine recorded and released the song, it became a big hit(very popular) that is why some thought it was one of her original song.

The story behind this song was , it was one of the Finalists in the Metropop Music Festival and it was interpreted by Ms Ima Castro ..... but Regine Velasquez officially recorded it as a single CD, years later .....The single CD has 2 versions , the other one was an Upbeat SHINE cover ....The song wasn't a hit until Regine released it .....

Yes yazik ! Bit pitchy is normal.every singer xperient it. Im more interested with skill delivery colourfull voice dynamic pleasant n comfortable note hitting mood n attitude n versatality. Regine is a great singer. In her 50's how could she sing so good. I prefer her to other singers like celine dion. Beautiful voice!
