I used to live on PHELPS rd would ride around to Bailey Hill rd very steep for Florida. Also lehup Hill on ft.king looking at lake Pasadena very scenic.
I enjoy your videos Jom. Keep it going. Back in the late 60's early 70's I attended USF in North Tampa. On Sundays we would drive to Pasco county to buy beer 'cause you couldn't in Hillsborough.
Hi looking to get into gravel riding but confused as to gearing, would you recommend x1 or x2 chainset is there much of a difference between the obvious double amount of gear choice. I’d mainly be using on towpaths and dirt roads, nothing too steep. Thanks
2x crankset / chainset every time. I strongly believe a 1x setup is a horrible compromise, especially considering how good today's front derailleurs are.
I've really been enjoying your videos since finding your channel. Does your site have a store section? I could use a new cap and would like to pick one up to support your page.
Hi there... I did a short run of caps, they are currently out. T-shirts is all I have at this time, as you can tell, I don't push them hard. If you're interested, message me through the website, I have Medium to XL available. Thanks!
Correct, two GoPro's. I have a third one I will use at races on the rear of the bike, if Covid ever goes away... mind you, my high fitness = gone haha. But I am loving riding around enjoying life.
Three years late to this video party, but yeah, this region of Florida is uncharacteristically hilly, with frequent stretches of rolling terrain, compared to much of the state. Part of the " Brooksville Ridge " that runs up the state " spine ", from around Zephyrhills in Pasco, on the south, north past, and incl Brooksville in Hernando County, up through the northern limits of Citrus County. More of this, too, up in the panhandle from Tallahassee west thru near Crestview and north to the AL/GA state lines, except even more rugged (" the red hills " region, the locals call it). Ravines, rolling steep terrain characterized in part by clay/sandstone and limestone outcrops, esp at the " Red Rock " bluffs along the Appalachiacola River (80 - 100 ft bluffs above river level) at Torreya State Park. Other locations of similar nature, too, incl the upper reaches of the Big Shoals region of the Suwanee River (" Big Shoals " - the only stretch of class III rapids over any riverine water body in Florida).
Dogs feature in many of my videos... seen a lot of those critters in FL, GA, SC, NC... I have no problems dealing with them being cheeky, whereas they're a problem for some riders. I understand your viewpoint, particularly if the dog is overly aggressive.
Northwave Extreme XCM, which I believe are discontinued, so google around. The orange camo was a limited run I believe, thankful I have two pairs, love them!

Love your videos. They help me get out and explore my area of SE Michigan. Hills of Florida, who knew.

Wow, I can only imagine how the county looked back then.
Great video of the area, thanks for sharing.
I love that Mexican restaurant right next to you in San Antonio Florida. I grew up in zepherhil & dade city area from 1993-2002
Thank you for that ride it brought back some good memories
Where are you residing nowadays, Bruce?
Awesome video as usual. Great riding to be had in that area.
Can you post your routes? I occasionally cycle on the road there. Thanks

Gravel Cyclist thanks for the advice
Trevor, good luck with your bike / drivetrain choice! We are lucky to have to many choices nowadays.
Good video, it was nice to see scenery and a place which is quite different from my own backyard riding. The US is way more spacious than the UK!

Gravel Cyclist thanks! I’m good on tees, but I’ll keep an eye out for more caps.
JOM great video--can almost feel the heat!. Are you using two Go Pro's--one on handlebars and the other handheld?
Correct, two GoPro's. I have a third one I will use at races on the rear of the bike, if Covid ever goes away... mind you, my high fitness = gone haha. But I am loving riding around enjoying life.
I was checking out your titanium bike videos. Have you ridden the Alchemy Ronin Ti?
Sorry Dorian, no time on any Alchemy.
@@GravelCyclist Me either. I hope to one day I will be in the market for a titanium bike next year.
The road was closed tho... Haha I'm surprised you didn't get yelled at, but no harm no fowl

Are free roaming dogs much of a problem on these types of rides? I have them in Texas and its a problem.

Only 3 years and already so much has changed on those roads 😭
I am guessing a bunch of them are paved. There was construction early in the video. Very sad how developers have ruined Tampa's surroundings.
@@GravelCyclist ya, lots of construction. They put in new roads. And even more people in the area make the roads more crowded.
Hi, what shoes were you wearing in this video?
Northwave Extreme XCM, which I believe are discontinued, so google around. The orange camo was a limited run I believe, thankful I have two pairs, love them!
going to ride in that area soon. Hoping to find some of your maps.
I won't be sharing my route, if you watched the video, you'll see why early on.
They seem to be developing the whole of the south like this. So sad.
It is criminal what these developers are allowed to get away with.
