Grate presentation. Just Quick question: fillet welding a lap joint between A653 14ga sheet metal to 3/8” structural steel A992 can WPS following D1.1 prequalified joints be used. If it is not acceptable, What should be the directions to follow in order to get the WPS?!

What is the difference and when to use WPS and PQR according to API and ASME
I saw your few videos. You have explained nicely but in my opinion, your explanation can be understood to those people who has spent 3-4 years in the field of coded vessel fabrication. Also it lacks structural welding requirements. It also does not explain category of welds as well as most important joint efficiency. You may say that these parameters are design centric but it is not so.
Any welding engineer should have basic knowledge of metallurgy as well as philosophy of Section VIII Div 1. Finally any WPS should meet the requirement of construction code and not of Section IX. Section IX gives guidelines and not directions / requirements to meet construction code.
Friend, Can you explain more detaled how to prapare preliminary WPS, how to find range of P numbers, group numbers, how to choose elecrtrodes, current . Thank you

1. During WPS/ PQR and WPQ test coupon welding and testing at NABL lab . Is it amendatory to conduct by TPIA. Is it possible to conduct both by CSWIP engineer and approve it.
This is not mandatory to witness the PQR test coupon testing on NABL lab. This requirement may come due to client requirement otherwise ASME does not require witness of testing by TPIA.
Do you recommend any software to write PWPS, WPS and PQR's?
