To be fair, a modern heavy machine shop could easily manufacture a reproduction of one of these engines. However they'd make heavy use of CNC machinery to do it, they wouldn't be lathing the parts manually.
Of course it still exists, any tool & die maker could easily surpasses what they were able to do during the heyday of steam power. And casting any engine block from the smallest automotive engine to 100k +++++ HP ships engines would be infinitely harder than what these engines took. I personally know of at least 3 people that given the correct size of manually operated machine tools there's not a part on these they couldn't machine as well or better for workmanship. Compared to today the tolerances on these engines were pretty loose. With a lot tighter tolerances there's far less need for that hand fitting. But hand filing or even scraping to a precision fit isn't a lost art yet.
morgan the roundabouts (merrygoround in usa) organ ( ivor the engine reference ) lovely steam engine .:) many of these early engine plants were very ornate to the point that tours were given. the victorians wanted to show off the latest.
nice enginen,,i like the starter motor,,it looked like it runs on steam to,,the boiler looks like it had been converted to run on oil or gas at some time,,,thanks for sharing.
Truly a mechanical work of art. The workmanship and fitting that went into casting, machining and assembling these old engines doesn't exist anymore.

Wow... My best friend, Made an excellent video. I really liked it. Beauty is extraordinary. Thank you very much for the video.
Rewelacyjny film👍👍
The flywheels did have belts when they were being used to power other things but this appears to only be for demonstration.
Fantastic video with interesting details!
I like this giant steam engine. But the lot of small stationary engins is not bad!
The sound of those oil pumps is almost music

The red tubes appear to be coal stokers, unless they are blowing powdered coal.
Hope someone can answer this.
An interesting implementation of Corliss valve gear.
When was this built? I love British steam
I believe construction started 1912 and the first engine was started in 1914... Details on www.millmeecepumpingstation.co.uk
They go on about German engineering but Fuck this is English and we should be very very proud of our history .....hip hip hooray !!!
Fantastic Engine. The PS Waverley's are fine examples of British Engineering too.
Well said
i love steam engine but also to say they are a rube goldberg device in action witch is a good thing reallly all those things in action at ounce neat
Love the addition of the smaller expositions, and esp. the Calliope!
So neben Sie Races oder verstehen Sie keine Ventil Technik......?
Glorious! :-)
1:00 the guy on the right looks older than the engine.
Maravilha.
A voice over describing the mechanisms and what they do would be appreciated. Same for all the small engines at the end.
Do both steam engines still function?
Yes i believe so, I only stayed for the morning and they only had one running. I believe they were going to start the second in the afternoon....
the british invented mechanical egineering
England and Scotland pioneered Steam propulsion, and all machinery that went with it.
Kommt langsam erholen.....Ein Riese Bau Projekte
