This song hits me hard. Dealing with anger issues and depression after getting out of the military, I finally found someone who was patient with me. Through all of my outbursts and meltdowns, she made sure I got the help I needed. "I'm angry and I know that's weak", it hits me hard. I know it's weak, and Im just glad I found someone to be patient with me. Thank you Alyssa.
You're good dude, thanks may not be enough, but thank you
And thank you, Alyssa.
thanks for your service dude.
I find it incredible how each time they make a live session or whatever, the songs hits in a whole new way than on the records.
this!!
that's why their live shows sell out so quickly, not only do they rearrange songs live but they sound more full, organic, euphoric, and technical live, there's this confidence that unlocks in them with their repeated nightly playing and the songs start to take on new life, audiotree performance is perfect example of this
Truly a unique thing to see on the internet. Some times my favorite bands sound fantastic live but a video of that same live session does not do it justice. Pinegrove, though, mind-blowing. Seeing them in DC in September!
@@amenmane this little 9 minute video is helping me through a rough stretch too. Feelin lots of love for you.
Truth
Amazing these songs remind me of my mom who just passed I think she would’ve liked them
“Saying I’m happy when I’m not.” I felt that.
“I’m angry and I know that’s weak” is truly a genius lyric
😩😭 resonated so insanely deep
Pinegrove are so precise with their sound, it's always near-pristine how each part is performed. So damn good at what they do.
FUCK they're so good. Drummer needs some more love tho, the way he fills while keeping the shaker going is unreal.
his playing is swag out the ass
As a drummer myself he's a huge inspiration! Insanely creative!
Not to mention holdin down those harmonies!
Dude slays!!!
the drummer is incredibly talented he knows his place, he has great sense of feel in his playing.
Skylight puts me in a meditative state. One of the things I tell myself when I have overwhelming feelings or anxiety is that my thoughts are just thoughts. Nothing more. When Evan says "Whatever you're feeling is natural" it makes me feel at peace. I know that I am human and it's okay to feel feelings, I wouldn't be human if I didn't have them.
Drummer holding down the fort over there. Singer, shaker, and set.
What I would give to have a drummer like him. Best song drummer of my generation, hands down.
*whatever you’re feeling is natural*
this line makes me so EMOTIONAL
"low light at dawn, I'll love that song forever" also
Fucking tears!!
I love how musicians smile when they finish a live song that they know they've smashed. And they smashed that.
These two songs would be meaningful at a funeral.
That drummer is absolute next level. 💖
Wow , this first song is absolutely incredible.
A real tear jerker
this version of skylight is unreal
Pinegrove is best.
from Japan fan
"I was totally nervous to go to Japannn" (sorry I couldn't resist)

The band's dynamics is really amazing. Shivers when instrumental build up.
I had to put my dog down yesterday and this song hits so hard in the best way. I know it’s a bit out of context but it has given me a lot of comfort and acceptance with the grief I have felt the past few days. Thank you for the beautiful music.
Darkness has always been their tastiest song. can't get enough of Pinegrove's musicianship.
Always?
aphasia or old friends
I cannot stress enough how much I love Pinegrove's song writing. Such beauty in the flow of their lyrics and music. It invokes such emotion and transparency
This music is healing
I finally started to take steps to make my life better after having essentially giving up for the past 5 years, but it comes with its own problems. Like remembering why I had given up in the first place, and re living the pain that I had already been through. This song "Darkness" perfectly describes what is happening in my mind right now. I guess I have just been pretending to be happier, and the Darkness has definitely taken over.
Beautiful song
how has it been after 6 months? that's such a difficult thing to do, but i hope you feel proud of yourself in some way
Wow. This version of Skylight is something else. It’s like I completely rediscovered the song.
Saw them last night...tucked in t-shirt and high water pants. Good thing...there was a flash flash warning in Madison. Venue was packed and great sound. Love this band...so great to hear all the lyrics.
*I move away from the mic to breathe in.
Evan was meant to play live. Not to discredit the band, they're all great. This performance is awesome. Hope they tour soon!
as i was watching this i was thinking how evan is supposed to be doing this and how sad it was almost taken away
@@zacharias426 - Agreed. Fuck that pseudo therapist for exploiting confident information to bolster her own practice. I hope all the success in the world for Evan and his band mates.
Whatever I'm feeling listening to this now... is supernatural...
digging the Another Michael tee
Pinegrove is a very, very good band❤
I love the Sublime reference from Garden Grove in Darkness
That lyric dragged me into this band. At first listen, i was like "what did they just say!?" and had to listen again. Clever. ;)
What is the reference?
Kellen saying i’m happy when i’m not - finding roaches in the pot
@@josetortos5037 I knew i had fuckin heard that somewhere before. fav sublime song
had to scroll thru comments to see who else noticed.gg
I have a feeling im gonna be coning back to this for months to come
Skylight is my go to when I'm having a rough/bad trip
Helps me take a few deep breaths and let it pass.
Love these guys
Immunity by Jon Hopkins for me
@@Em-gj2sg I'll have to check it out!
@@shanehubbard649 Tell me what you think :)
Evan's lyrics are god tier
So glad they’re back
Something about this video is magical. Maybe it's the fact that these are two lesser-played Pinegrove songs, maybe it's the soft lighting, maybe it's Evan's sweater... whatever it is, it makes me click on this video every time it pops up.
Suddenly I find
I've got darkness on my mind
It's a question mark that keeps me looking
And it's never satisfied
And it's never what I thought
Saying I'm happy when I'm not
No, I got darkness on my mind
Leaning out the frame
When it's particulate and gray
I'm perpendicular to my whole being
When I lean a certain way
Saying I'm happy when I'm not
Finding roaches in the pot
Oh, I got darkness on my mind
Some people spend their whole lives looking
For someone who could understand
While meanwhile a lilac blooming
Sometimes on the driest land
And I know it's been a long time coming
And I'm angry and I know that's weak
And I'm longing out that open window
For whatever it is I seek
Some people spend their whole lives looking
For someone who could understand
And while meanwhile a lilac blooming
Sometimes on the driest land
And I know it's been a long time coming
I'm angry and I know that's weak
So I'm trying not to be so bitter
I'm just looking at it honestly
Well, I know it's been a long time coming
I'm angry and I know that's weak
And I'm longing out that open window
For whatever it is I seek
Some people spend their whole lives looking
For someone who could understand
While meanwhile a lilac blooming
Sometimes on the driest land, yeah
I move through shadow
I go they go wherever
Don't they come in
Whenever I let em
I climb through the skylight
Whatever you're feeling is all right
Let you let go
Whatever you're feeling is natural
Low light at dawn
I'll love that song forever
It's a shadow
Let me know me better
I climb through the skylight
Whatever you're feeling is all right
Let me let go
Whatever you're feeling is natural
Whatever you're…
These guys can write a song!
this is a sweet recording. whoever mixed this is very valid
sam mixed this. he mixes the records too :)
@Jeremiah L. Fernandez Fernandez sam skinner, their guitarist :)
I know this is late but Seth Engel who recorded and mastered this session is amazing. Check out his band "Options"
This is probably my favorite live recording of skylight. So much energy, beauty, finesse. Absolutely divine.
Evan's sweater game too skrong
throw a couple square frames on the side and sell that as new PG merch. I'm in for one for $100.
I have the same sweater and it’s a dope sweater
I would greatly appreciate it if you could tell me where you got it.
jackson eudy I got it from Target, like 6 years ago
Pure greatness. Don't ever stop doin what you're doin. Y'all have no idea what kind of impact your music has. Love it 👏 😉
hopefully they keep going - they are so good
these r my fav crying songs :’-)
zack is sending me some extremely strong dad vibes in this one
Chloe when does he not tho haha. Always has been the sweetest one in person
Actually that's not true, Evan talked to me for an hour when I was an 18 year old nobody who had just moved to a new city and the person I went to the party with abandoned me
"2 roaches in the pot" love the little Sublime reference he did right there lol🔥👍
didnt get to go to any shows this tour, but man this makes up for a lot of that
No way! You guys like Pinegrove? I LOVE the moss!
They even have the Tyke James long sleeve under short sleeve look!
this made my day so much better
I am digging the Sublime lyrics from Garden Grove. Nice nod to Bradly
Freaking beautiful
Back as strong and great as ever. Thanks.
The part at 2:20 in Darkness always reminds me of that part (about 2 minutes in) in Company Calls by death cab
Whoa mind actually blown.
Word!
yeah buddy
Brilliant as always. Thank you for improving my life with this performance.
this sounds so real and so much different than the recorded songs but in the best way. i’m so glad i got to see them live, it all sounds so fucking beautiful and intricate!!!! ah
I already influenced 2 persons with their music, I feel so proud haha, more people need to hear the beautiful music they are making!
That song was yesterday on the first episode of the seventh season of "The 100" 🧡
Just stumbled upon them today. Wonderful artists making beautiful music!
This band just hits the right spots for me every time.
just wonderful!!!
Great natural light in this video
30 seconds into this video - already buzzing and stoked to hear skylight based on the other comments. Love this band something fierce

Hope to see them live, someday
I can't wait to see them in Accord, perfect atmosphere for their show
Such a great song!!! And the live is even better. "I'm angry and I know that's weak!!!!!"
Dude these songs got me fucked up. An awesome girl in my life introduced me to these guys, but I had to end things with her for reasons and now I’m sitting here crying like a baby. BUT WHATEVER IM FEELING IS NATURAL 😂
I love this band, I hope they come to Mexico someday.
So so good
Playing on repeat…
What a cool fucking band! Now I got darkness on my mind.
Greetings from Pine Grove, PA!
Pinegrove is my fav
so good
come in, begin, between the lioonnnsss
so friggan perfect
I was looking for a song called "Low light at dawn" to no avail. I actually asked Evan in person what song he was referring to. I don't believe he was referring to a song, think that was a separate thought based on his answer. I got to see him play in a tiny record shop in CT. Was such a great experience.
7 time NASCAR Champ Jimmie Johnson on the drums? :oP
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
that sublime reference 👀
🙌🏻
the doctor asks me why I’m all these meds for anxiety and depression. I think deep and hard, never really considered it. This song plays and I realize that the most anxiety I have in my life is worrying about running out of effexor and thinking about the come down, the dizzy spiral. This song comes into my life and I understand life is full of sadness and music helps you work thru it, art helps you, people occasionally help you thru it. Pre-pandemic I hated live shows. Mask up and live on. When the time comes I’ll write music for Evan and yes I know it doesn’t work that way, but maybe I’ll get money, I’ll get funny again. I’ll loose weight and wear cute sweaters, god can you imagine being skinny enough to be chilly in the south.

Skylight might be Pinegroves most underrated song and its the name of the album.
I feel bad for the one person who disliked
