It will keep climbing but at some point it will correct. The smartest move is to sell stuff that you don't mind letting go right now. Nothing goes up forever, gotta make sure you are liquid during a bear market.
I started thinking about getting back into collecting around the time the first round of Surging sparks products was sold out for pre-order and ever since it's been constantly sold out in my area and the price is constantly rising. The cards look cool and all but I don't wanna spend all this money. It's a shame because I see plenty of people buying so many booster boxes and every other type of surging sparks product so they can resell it. I guess this is part of the hobby now :/
If you’re watching this in the U.S, the price in the U.K on eBay is currently £140 so you can get them imported using eBay’s global shipping program for less than the U.S market. Probably works out around $175-$180 delivered. 👍
You have a little to safe of takes man. Surging will go to 200 by end of year. Prismatic comes out, surging will balance out but will be sold out for the forseable future. Esp when prismatic is over saturated and everyone can get the cards like they did in crown zenith

I’m over buying sealed, I do enjoy collecting but new sets used to be able to get $80-100 a pop on release. For playing the game I’ll just buy the singles I need on tcg player
Currently all sold out here in New Zealand, the booster boxes were on the distributor list for quite a long time before they went out of stock. I think its bullish to suggest we wont see significant restocks for 12 months, once they have finished printing Prismatic Evolutions my guess is they will do a large wave of Surging Sparks. This will hang around because attention will be on Prismatic Evolutions and the new rocket set. I predict booster boxes will be back to $100-120 by February 2025. Guess we will wait and see haha.

The average collector doesn’t understand reprint dates. If the supply dries up. People don’t magically stop opening products just because it’s going up. We’re in a new era we’re supplies gets eaten up by rippers on streaming services. Demand won’t slow down. And neither will people’s appetite to open this set. Be ready to see this rise in value on a bi weekly if not weekly basis

The speed of the Surging sparks products being sold out on the Pokémon center is unprecedented, why would they wait a year to reprint it going into the most profitable period of the year for them? 🤣
They have so many other products to print and more popular like 151, prismatic and the next team rocket all them are more profitable. So I can see it being a year
I am guessing, but I bet those 4 pack and a jumbo card boxes are more of a priority around the holidays, as they make great gifts, are fairly cheap. and can be found on pretty much every major retailer and local game store. Booster boxes are likely a lower priority.

Oh man the fomo hit me a bit. The Japanese Pikachu EX SAR was $120 a rew weeks ago now its already $200. Thats still a lot cheaper than the English version but still a big jump. Unsure when i should pick it up. Usually I'd wait a few month but this time I'm scared of the prices going even higher.
One of my lgs’s was just offered the last case his distributor had at $150 a booster box. He bought all 6 (whole case) and priced them at $170. He’s a small brick and mortar but his distributor said that’s all he can get right now. Said he’s never had a distributor charge more than $97 a booster box in the past.
So I'm in Japan, and I just back into to hobby because of Pokemon TGC Pocket. I picked up 5 boxes of Surping Sparks. The difference here is that a box has 30 packs, but 5 cards. Plus, with the yen to USD conversion rate. I ended up getting 5 boxes for a decent price. I'm excited to see what I pull. How do Japanese cards compare to their English counterparts?

When reading online discussions everyone is like "oh the pikachu is so mid!" and yet it and the set itself are so expensive. I get that it's a popular Pokémon, but I feel like there's a lot of market manipulation for this set. I personally do love it, but aside from Pikachu there are only like 3 other cards that are worth more than 50 bucks or so, so anytime people are opening this set I see them complain about not getting their money's worth... these people should just leave the hobby imo.
Sets usually have a 2-year print window. So when people talk about a “reprint” when the set literally JUST came out is hilarious. Of course it will be reprinted, if not multiple times. They could print surging into the ground if they wanted to to teach people a lesson on impulse control. There’s other better sets to put your $$ into such as paradox rift and temporal forces @ less than $120 a booster box. Just my opinion. The Pikachu SIR is way overhyped, the bubble will pop, it will crash causing everyone to panic and panic sell which will then also impact the entire Pokémon market due to people freaking out 🤷♂️ just my prediction, but we will see what happens
I was talking to a friend last night about Japanese 151 reprints. The prices aren’t coming down. Pokemon investors are now prepared to take the short term hit for long term profit. They’ll completely buy up every reprint until the era is dead and then they can charge what they want and no one can argue with them. You will see SP boosters hit $300-350 by January.
I dont care about english, shifted completely to japanese singles. I get to enjoy the artwork for 80% less price. I am just keeping fingers crossed that majority of these crypto sellers leave this hobby as soon as possible.

Everything is going up; stocks, cryptos, inflation ticked up again last month, prices of goods, and of course Pokémon. We just ride the wave and hope for the best. Going against it will sometimes leads to missed opportunities.

Surging Sparks pull rates are absolute trash, it reminds me of evolving skies Pull Rates...It's completely NOT fun to open what so ever. S+V base / Crown Zenith were the best sets to release this year. Good cards good pull rates fun to open.

Serging sparks is deffinitley meh. Their hasn't been a really strong set since Crown Zenith. Or even one that's remotely strong. They all been meh. I hold out for only the strong sets now.
@ well if you got in early when it was 105 this wouldn’t be a problem for you. As a collector/investor I do love when my collection grows in value. Pokémon isn’t for just collectors.

I'm still a believer that it's fine to skip a set. If I had endless amounts of money I'd buy, but there are still great opportunities out there
Why does everyone keep saying there will be a reprint? Please tell me. They don't reprint every set, and they have only reprinted 2 sets this year, very small reprints. There are like what 5 or 6 sets they would reprint before surging sparks get reprinted. I don't see it happening anytime soon, and it may not get reprinted at all with all these new sets like prismatic. They don't have the time to do it honestly.
Surging Sparks will be the poster child for the crash in a couple months. Some small group of buyers is buying all this stuff up to manipulate prices like we've never seen, but when it all gets dumped back onto the market I can see 75% crashes on sealed items and 97% crashes on singles. That $800 Pikachu is a $15 card.

It's $209 on Amazon It was $205 this morning. I'll give it next week it will be $225.
Pikachu SIR is the chase of the entire SV-era so far. Until another card overtakes it I think Surging sparks will continue to climb
