It was so cringing 😬 I was hiding inside my blanket I couldn't watch it lol... but I'm very very very happy about Finland 🇫🇮, Ukraine 🇺🇦, Switzerland 🇨🇭, France 🇫🇷 and of course the amazing winners from Italy 🇮🇹!!!! Everything was 👌. And I was sooo happy when a song i didn't like at all got very little points it was very satisfying to say the least 🤭

The public voting was BRUTAL this year
Last year was skipped, so everyone chose their favourite in advance this year
It always is brutal)
it's simple: the majority of the songs were very similar to each other (all pop with catchy chorus and stuff) so people who liked those spread their votes, while the songs that got more votes were all unique and distinguishable (ukraine, iceland, france, finland, italy)
Even then, non-upbeat songs got so many more points in total, so I suppose during these times people are not looking to be cheered up, perhaps it just doesn't fit with the mood of the moment in Europe with everything that is happening and has happened.
Guys take a look at Maneskin interviews. Being a singer is also about creating an alter ego to bring on stage, to be able to leave out your personal fears and connect with the public. Maneskin are completely different when they're not on the stage, they look like polite high school students answering a teacher. This is also being an artist. Don't be afraid of their image on stage. I also hope that you'll find a good translation of the lyrics, because the song talks about acceptance of being different and it encourages people to ignore those who just loves to speak and judge without actually knowing anything. "Siamo fuori di testa, ma diversi da loro. E tu sei fuori di testa, ma diverso da loro" means "They can call us crazy, but at least we are different from them. And you can be crazy, but you are also different from them" (the haters/keyboard warriors & co.).

After Mahmood's loss this felt like justice to me. Switzerland, France, they were all great songs but i'm just so happy that Maneskin got their well deserved prize. It was definitely different from all the other similar kinda sounds and just shined through. Italy and Ukraine doing so great in the public vote just shows the reality of audiance. I am from the Netherlands and realy liked our act in 2019 and i an glad we won but i liked italy that year to, it was my second favorite. And this year i really liked france and italy (voted for both) and i am glad that one of them won.

What is remarkable is that the top 10 Songs are very diverse in languages. Italian, French, Russian, Ukrainian. Some countries should really go for their native language. For example people want finally again a song in German. A Swedish song would be cool too. The ESC bubble celebrates diversity but then most songs are in English. This is contradictory. 🤔

I am from the Netherlands and totaly agree. I want to hear my country and Belgium ( Flandres ) in Dutch again. I want to hear German from Germany and Austria. I want to hear Swedish and Norwegian. It is not about the language at all so it can be in their native languages. It is all about the song, the melody etc. During the song they can show English subtitles. I wished it was Esperanto. After the war a large group of people supported Esperanto , which was a made up language with words from all countries in Europe.

All IMO: after a hard sad year nobody wanted sad slow ballads, people wanted to jump with middle fingers up and to discotheque right at one's home. Also televoting highlighted most original songs (Italy, Ukraine, Iceland) which cant be described as "it sounds like X". While most other songs were somewhat a rip off (El Diablo - Lady Gaga, Bulgaria - Billie Eilish, Malta - Beyonce, Gjon - Duncan's Arcade, Moldova - clear copycat of Svetlana Loboda's "Суперзвезда" + Maruv's iconic brass, etc). Italy and Finland were my faves, than Portugal and Ukraine. Thought that Manizha would be higher, but I get that her song relies on message and people don't know Russian language to get it.

I don't think it was shocking at all and I'm so glad that the public reacted the way it did, because in the end no matter who won the competition - tho I'm gonna be honest, it was satisfying that no lame ass song won - this feels like a revolution. I believe Eurovision has never been as popular as this year here in Italy, even before the victory, and that's because the public actually cares about Måneskin, because for once it reflects the music we listen and relate to. Even though I absolutely loved other acts, I also believe that they deserved it more than others because they're humble, yet they have great personalities and passion, and it shows!
That's what I'd like to see in the future too; I wanna see people bringing to Eurovision a piece of their country that others don't even know it exists.

I am from the States but I personally love Eurovision and everything it stands for! America could never come together like Europe does! I am so proud to see countries United to celebrate artistry and music!
The night was unbelievable. I'm totally happy. Although a bit disappointed with results, now our Manizha is getting a lot of hate because of her 9th place. I can understand that opponents were too strong, but spiteful people don't.
Congratulations to Italy! There were many songs deserved good results, but the competition was absolutely crazy. Sooooo much pleasure.
I didn't like Manizha's song until I watched her perform. I think she did great, this year was tough and despite having a Russian rap song, which is not everyone's cup of tea, she was great on stage.
Why would she be getting hate for getting a 9th place when many Russians wrote her messages that she wouldn't even qualify to the final and sent death threats to her even?

As italian I must confess the 0 points to UK were the drop of vinegar in a honey night. I liked Jame's song but above all this guy always smiling and happy transmitted me a lot of positivity. 0 points really hurted me as if someone had slapped a puppy on its snout. For what about the results, well, consider 2021 as a rock year where people too tired of lockdowns surgical masks and social distancing are feeeling the urge to break free. next year everything will turn back normal and we'll send a soft ballad pleasing your ears again.

I understand the winning song is not everybody's cup of tea. I didn' t vote for them on our ESC national selection. I was sure it would have flopped hard at ESC, ranking bottom 5 or something.I couldn't believe this song won, yet now I am happy of course XD. The biggest difference between the evaluations of the jury and the evaluations of TV viewers in Ukraine! 97 v. 267. This is very unfair on the part of national juries. Sadly.
Even greater proportion is with Serbia, 20 v 82 points.

So happy for Italy! I was honestly happy with any of the top 8 winning this year. Absolutely amazing.
Two of the big five came 1 and 2, while the other three in the bottom places. Very odd. Meanwhile kudos for the top placings who sang in their own languages.
Considering that the big 5 don't go through the semifinals, it's not odd at all. If Spain, Germany and the UK had had to go through selection, they wouldn't have reached the Finale. Since they are by right in the Finale, they miss a quality selection step, and if they fall they fall hard. Moreover, Italy's entries are selected through Sanremo Festival, which is already a quality selection that mixes opinions from both the public and juries. Spain, Germany and the UK songs were all chosen internally instead. This kind of selection doesn't take in consideration the real interest of the public, and that's why they usually fail.

I get the logic of your surgical analysis, (I was fully aware of these facts already) but the absoluteness of the message delivered is oddly stark and vivid, even knowing all of that. @@alipanroosendaal9503 I've heard the symphonic version of Je Me Casse, and Malta was my second favourite entry this year. I prefer the dance version, however I am in disbelief. The song was great, she sang almost perfectly. I think her body image was a hurdle to her appreciation by the public. Except for Greece and Cyprus and some random political votes amongst Eastern Europe, I haven't seen much politics involved this year.
@@divxxx Agreed. In the symphonic version Destiny looked like an amazing opera diva, whilst in the stage version in the competition she looked distinctly odd. Netta, in contrast, made her shape work for her, and proved that anything is possible, if you get it right. Kind of a shame for Malta, though.
@@alipanroosendaal9503 I tend to consider the song first, the execution second and the staging third. For me Netta was all staging, I hated the song, despite being a really good singer. On the other hand Destiny had a great song, good execution but maybe for some people the staging was off. However, my 1st place goes to Ukraine: sick track, great singing skills and she was statuesque.

The shocking televotings were San Marino, The 4 zero points and Malta getting 47 points!!!
No it wasn't. The four zero were four shitty songs, San Marino was a boring pop song overhyped and Malta just corrupted the jury and the odds so luckily they didn't win
So glad Italy won. Although Barbara Pravi's grandfather is Serb, I am happy Maneskin won. They are wonderful.

EASILY the most entertaining vote sequence since it went down to the wire between Ireland and the UK in 1993. Was really disappointed by Portugal’s and San Marino’s televote scores.
2003 was a very exciting voting sequence as well. With the difference in the top 3 being just 5 points and only being decided with the last country announcing their votes

This year was amazing, lots of great songs. I'm happy Italy won this year ( I still think that Mahmood and Duncan were on another level that year ) About UK: I don't see them putting much effort into their songs, and I think that reviews are so bad because everyone knows that they could do better, I mean lots of fantastic artists are from UK. You expect Ed Sheeran, Adele, Spice Girls etc. and then you get lyrics and music that seems to be written the day before in a bar. It's even sadder because the artist performing the "masterpiece" puts a lot of effort into it

To be honest the success of Maneskin gave a much needed credibility to the Eurovision song contest, that at times seems more like an absurd circus rather than a legit musical event that it supposed to be.

Ночка действительно была сумасшедшая!)) Респект парню из Великобритании, который пришел к финишу с 0 баллов! Это разрыв! Это супер круто! Такого в истории конкурса еще не было! Я считаю это повод для гордости))) И реакция его мне понравилась!
До последнего не верила что победит рок группа, надеялась, что парень из Швейцарии выиграет...но нет...) Так мало того, и вторая рок группа из Финляндии в первой 10-ке ...вот насколько люди соскучились по драйву, по эмоциям....красивая, хорошо поющая девочка или мальчик с милой песней стали не интересны....нужны сверх эмоции, посыл...и первая десятка так и выглядит, на мой взгляд!
Так что все круто! Надеюсь, в следующем году откроют границы и мы все сможем поехать в Италию на конкурс!)
