And the monologue in Dignity says something like: "At the turning of a year, many people experience a sense of melancholy At the thought of that which will never return. To others it's a moment of expectation At the possibility of conquering the new. Others re-experience worry before a change , Which means uncertainly and possibly degradation. All these moods are explainable by their own. Someone said the other day that we live in the age of the great break-up."
I really enjoyed this format Jim, and while I've not been a huge Opeth fan, I gotta say they are definitely growing on me. Keep up the great content. Also, I'd like to recommend something similar to this format with The Mars Volta album 'Frances the Mute.' It's one of their early albums and most certainly a standout.
I completely love this album and just watching you enjoy Opeth brings me so much joy. When you listened to All Things Will Pass you had the same reaction as me, esp when the outro starts. The most beautiful outro ever.
so, who's this Trex? (OK, OK I predate them). Hm. listening.... listening... Jim, hows about doing a Monthly Roundup (or such) of new stuff with snippets and why its good? ...still listening... definitely some early prog elements (and some Beatles / Stg.Pepper laughter??) and a nod to SW. Who mixed this? OK thats over. Pretty; pleasant. But no Tool (as yet) - next!
I love this album, been listening to it a lot. Doesn't quite reach the new Tool, but it's still my favorite Opeth album. I'm glad that I got the Swedish version, Mikael did say it was how it was meant to be listened to, and I agree.
in cauda venenum > fear inoculum, pick any song from lateralus or 10000 days and probably is better than the whole fear inoculum, i dont remember the last time i listen to fear inoculum, but i have listen to lateralus and 10000 days more the last few days, With in cauda venenum i was dissapointed at the first listen to it, but now i just cant stop, listen to it almost every day, but hey, cool if you like the new tool more than the new opeth, nothing wrong with that xd
I started with the English and I actually prefer that one, even though I understand Swedish. I'm going back and forth, but I find myself putting on the English version more. But I was surprised that a lot of the meaning didn't literally translate over to English. Guess MÅ had to choose flow over meaning.
Nah, if you actually listen to them, esp this album, it's pretty darn heavy. True rock. I don't limit myself and divide Opeth into old/new. I just love ICV and I don't need to compare them to their old stuff. I love both old and new.
Dog Save You. This is AMAZING music. What do you want them to be, AC/DC with every album sounding exactly like MAYH? Opeth grows and evolves. Like the Universe.
One of the greatest pleasures for people who like all forms of Opeth is sticking all their albums on one big playlist.
The child says something like "If you stop thinking... you become dead".
If you stop to pee...you'll be dead
I've done this every day from the release day. And I can't stop yet.
Those 'AAAAHH's are just a record of Mikael Akerfeld stumping his toe on his amp.
I think you mean stubbing.

It's takem from a speech made by a former Swedish prime minister Olof Palme.

Great start to the album. Lotta Heritage-era Opeth vibes in this one.
That's quite some work you put in this. Very nice. Saw Opeth live this summer. They are as fantastic live as they sound on album.
Seeing them for 4th time this November, can’t wait to see the new and old stuff live again!
I dont think Opeth has à bad album 🤘🤘
Nope.
The have not.
oooh I was hoping you'd do this. Excited to watch these. Cheers Jim!
Fantastic start of the album. Looking forward to the rest!

I listened to this album once now and I love it. I hear a lot of old prog rock in it.
Thanks for your content Jim, much appreciated from Adelaide, Australia!
waited for this :) and yes it has a lot of 70s prog influence to me
This is the first album since Watershed that I've really liked.
You missed two amazing albums, then, as a minimum. I mean Heritage and Communion.
You and me both
@@mrdeathamore Heritage is awesome.
Best new-Opeth album. I actually prefer it in Swedish.
The beginning of heart in hand dialogue says:
"It's deplorable. Bleh!"
"Who the hell are you?"
The childrens' voices on the album are Mikael's and Fredrik's daughters.
Get to finally see them in Chicago this winter!
Ótimo album
Mikael not growling doesn’t detract ONE IOTA from Opeth anymore.
Yep! I got the "On The Run" feeling too.
The JOY of Opeth.
Opeth, the gift that keeps on giving. Best band ever. And that is no small feat.
Dream Theater - Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence disk two
The Faceless - Autothiest Movement part 1 to 3
Carcass - Heartwork
Thanks again Jim :)
Ghost Reveries used to be my favorite Opeth album.
Until In Cauda Venenum rose from the depths of Hell.😊
Hi Jim! Personally I'd prefer to hear more of your thoughts while you're listening instead of everything at the end.

See Wikipedia. Search for Mark Bolan if T-Rex isn’t available.

Sorry I just don't like their new stuff. Opeth is so soft nowadays
