- Teenager Nicolas Sheff (Academy Award nominee Timothée Chalamet) seems to have it all -- good grades, editor of the school newspaper, actor, artist and athlete. When Nic's addiction to meth threatens to destroy him, his desperate father (Academy Award nominee Steve Carell) does whatever he can to save his son and his family. From the Oscar-winning producers of Moonlight and 12 Years a Slave, Beautiful Boy is a deeply affecting and powerful true story of a father fighting to save his teenage son from drug addiction.

Timothee's performance is so good that sometimes I forget that this film is based on a true story.
It is based on a true story, actually, and also it is based on a book
This scene is so devastating. Nic’s dad frustratingly trying to understand his son and help him is so sad and nic repeating “I’m so sorry for everything dad.” and feeling so helpless is so so sad. This movie is truly incredible and heartbreaking.
The best movies that come out are about something real, about real people and the ones that show you something that happens everyday
The diner scene always gets me man 😢
Same. This wad a very hard movie to watch
Bc as a former addict it’s VERY real
The frustration in the father’s voice breaks me. It’s showing that the breaking point is a clear line and wanting to stay with your son while also wanting to leave him at the worlds horrid hand is really eye opening. This father knew what was good for his son but physically couldn’t help him just by himself, and you can see that frustration and guilt building up over time, knowing that his son will always find comfort in the drugs and that there is always a possibility to turn back. My huge respects go to anyone who is recovering from an addiction of any kind- life is shitty but you’re doing sour best and I put all of my confidence in you❤
I love your kindness and compassion for others in your response ❤
9:04 you can here the pain in his voice when he says that
Timothee is such an amazing actor 👏😭
I have a crush on him-
Absolutely love this movie, it hit home in so many ways. As a recovering drug addict, this very first scene is so relatable. I have an amazing family just like Nick does in this film, which just goes to show that drugs don't discriminate. Absolutely anyone can be dealt this hand in life, and I pray to God they're able to overcome and live in recovery.
People love drugs they’re great so great that they’ll ruin your life
I've seen a lot of psych patients while working in an ER, and the diner scene is spot on. Meth mind is wild to see. It's hard to see an actor capture it this well
The diner scene is so accurate. I went through that same conversation many times with a loved one who is now fully recovered and doing really well, but man... it was a rough 6 years😓
Happy they recovered
I’ve watched this movie once, I can’t handle watching it again. It is devastating to watch as a parent.
I wish I didn’t know exactly what this is like. From Timothy’s perspective. Been dealing with my own drug addiction for about a decade and it just gets worse and worse every time you relapse the sooner you can arrest it the better I PROMISE you
2 great actors....
this movie hits so hard for me, my 2 other siblings were just like nick, maybe worse idk, but watching all this unfold, and not being able to do anything hurts. alot.
I’m sorry xx ❤
It hurts to see someone you love turn into someone so different. 😢
Whenever I write scene work, I always think about scenes from Beautiful Boy. They're just amazingly good on their own. You don't feel like you need to watch the whole movie to understand, but the movie is SO good also.
5:21 this scene will always make me cry
Timothée does an Amazing job !! Super talent !!! 🎭
this experience is simultaneously incredibly heartbreaking, too real, and too close to home.
This movie is Tim’s best work
Beautiful.
One of my favorite movies of all time
This is incredible acting. Wow!
Good acting!
This is heartbreaking 💔
“When I tried it I felt better than I ever had… so I just kept doing it.” Oh man….
You have no clue how "your going to get it back" means... It's the only hope we may have.
So to all of us struggling. Invest in that.
Great actor! 😊❤❤ Love him so much! ❤❤
the sass in 4:07 😭😭
Timothee is an amazing actor, when he is acting it just feels so real! And sometimes I forget it’s acting. He is also really cute and I think he plays this role really well!!
His dad tho, is still a great actor! He also makes it seem real and Again sometimes makes it feel like it’s not acting!!
But I think the character he plays in this film (the dad) he needs to be less hard on his son and understand how addicting the substance is. And understand how he probably wants to stop but can’t!
Sorry but just cant really take this serious after watching Michael from the Office lol
Me too 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Yeah this movie is so sad :(
прекрасный Тимоти....
HACE BULLIYNG,TODO EL TIEMPO.
Difficult situation.
Hes grown since then.
the actor or the characters
The actor.@@darladimple8437
What a very cute young boi
A bit off topic but, I really hope Timothee Chalamet becomes Harry Osborn in the MCU. Since Harry battled drug addiction in the comics, that could transfer over to the MCU. Timothee's performance in Beautiful Boy is so genuine (as it has to be) that I know he'd be able to pull it off.
At 10:18 it's so sad the second time he says dad... 😢😢😭😭
I want to read the books so bad
Me too 😢
I’m saving up to get it😞😞
I don't I don't liek reading 😢
Beautiful, but only in english, not in Italian
Devastating
한국에도 오빠랑 닮은 스타들 많아요 지창욱 이정신~~
I loved these books. I thought Timothy was amazing but I hated Steve in this. He ruined the movie for me. They needed someone with more calmness, from the books the dad was very soulful and sad.
이해가 됨.
God, I don’t think I can ever watch this movie. I think I’ve got dad issues lmao
Why?
Why not? Life's sh|t.
Maura Tierney looks rough.
ikr
People age. Shes human
A beauty? Definetely he is not!
I think Timothee's acting is overrated. He's beautiful and smart. And he is talented. I'm not sure film is his best venue. Maybe the stage, modelling for sure, rap? I don't know. The acting jobs are coming to him because they know he will pull in tons of money from all the girls and women who are crushing on him. He needs more depth in his acting. More maturity. Maybe it will come. I don't hate him, I like him, he is interesting and very bright. Just my opinion on his acting at this point.
Nope. He's underrated
Ew
Uh . . . no, he's outstanding here, completely natural, intense. And, I'm not a fangirl and am too old to see him as a love-crush interest. He's got something, but he's very young still. Let's see how he develops.
Totally agree. Don't hate him, but he is not a great actor. And all the fangirls are feeling so offended. It's an opinion as your is as well just an opinion.
@@roimel7524 Yeah. Thanks. I've heard other people say they don't think he's that good. To be honest, I have not seen him in a lot but I did see Call my by your name which is was good in but I didn't think good enough to get the Oscar nomination. And the other things I've seen are think are less good, even a little cringe. His family and his face have opened a lot of doors for him. anyway, whatever. He's making lots of money. good for him, I guess.
his acting is incredible
i agree. it feels so real
@@ClairDeLume yup
Yes sometimes I forget it’s acting 😢😅
