Maniratnam is a very talented director, no doubt. But PS -1&2 is not his best.There are more talented directors who have done wonders without technological advancement. SS Vasan’s Chandralekha is the best.

Yes. It is average. Picturizing in his his old/repeated style, which he has been doing since Mouna Ragam days. At best PS1 is a one song hit movie, running for MR and ARR's old glory. Except for costume, the settings are ordinary and cheap.
