- Chicken Gravy Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 500 grams chicken, cut into pieces
- 4 tablespoons oil
- 2 onions (1 and a half sliced and 1/2 for blending)
- 2 tomatoes, finely sliced
- 1 inch ginger for blending
- 10 cloves of garlic for blending
- 3 cloves for blending
- A small piece of cinnamon for blending
- 5 byadagi chillies for blending
- 4 green chilies for blending
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
- 2 teaspoons coriander powder
- A handful of mint leaves
- A handful of coriander leaves
- 2 tablespoons yogurt
- 1/2 cup water (adjust as needed)
- Salt to taste
Instructions:
1. *Prepare the Chicken:*
- Wash the chicken and add a pinch of turmeric and salt. Leave it for 5 minutes, then wash thoroughly.
2. *Blend the Spices:*
- Soak the byadagi chillies in water for 5 minutes and then drain.
- Blend the soaked chillies, green chilies, ginger, garlic, cloves, cinnamon, and half an onion into a fine mixture.
3. *Marinate the Chicken:*
- In a bowl, mix the chicken pieces with yogurt, 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder, 1/2 teaspoon chili powder, 2 teaspoons coriander powder, and 1/4 tablespoon of salt. Let it marinate for at least 10 minutes.
4. *Prepare the Gravy:*
- Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
- Add the sliced tomatoes and salt to taste. Cook until they become soft and the oil starts to separate from the mixture.
5. *Cook the Spices:*
- Add the blended spice mixture and coriander leaves. Mix well and fry for 5 minutes.
6. *Simmer the Gravy:*
- Add water to the pan, mix well, and bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and tender.
7. *Serve:*
- Serve the chicken gravy hot with rice, chapati, naan, or any bread of your choice.
