Man you are fortunate for geting so much rain. At my elevation (7500 ft.) and climate the more i till the drier and more water i need. I have to plant turnips and clover between corn rows to keep moisture in the clay and get it down in the soil...still get weeds but the clover and turnips reduce it a bunch. We get that darn bind weed.

We bought property in central north Alabama in 1974. It had the terraces plowed up at least ten years earlier. I plowed the terraces down twice with two 14 inch turning plow. Morning Glory’s came up in the bottom of the fur. Morning Glory will lie dormant for years and years. They are tuff to handle with out chemicals. Don,t let one go to seed. Enjoy your video,s.

It definitely seems like the earlier the better…. And the corn gets too big to cultivate very quickly so it pays to hit it!

Down through the years I’ve used a spike tooth harrow (square drag as it was called in these parts, rotary hoe and a tine weeded. It never even crossed my mind to do a pre-emergent cultivation with a cultivator. 🤦🏽♂️ Of course it will work. Thank you thank you thank you. Can’t wait to plant corn next year and try it. 😂
It’s crazy what works that we never think about! It’s crazy! It just takes one crazy man to think outside the box and all of a sudden it’s a common practice!😂😂😂

Micah this is a real smart method to get ahead of the weeds, but how in the world do you know where you’re cultivating if you can’t see the corn? I’d be afraid I’d be tearing my corn all over the place like that. Any tips?
I could clearly see where that planter had planted the corn. Otherwise it would need to be done with a spike harrow crossways.
