Update #1 - if you put in your email and don't actually sign up, you will get an email in a day or two with a discount code for 20% off. The code they sent me was TUTOR. Worth a try to put in that code! Update #2 - If you cancel your free trial before the 7 days is up, then go back and resign up with the same email address, it appears that your progress will be saved, although I can't say for how long they will store it.
You're a real one ma'am! Thanks! This makes me really hopeful, I actually have a lot of trauma with math, that may sound nuts but it was pretty bad. Homeschooling my kid and he wants to be an astronomer, and I just freeze up when it comes to math. It's so frustrating because I'm passing on my fear of math so much he's changed his mind for the first time in almost 10 years, just breaks my heart. I hope this helps because he was so good at it while he was in school but gets so frustrated when he's stuck doing rote math over and over and over on paper.
Thank you Amanda - this was really helpful - I was considering subscribing to this for my 9 year old son who struggles with some mathematical concepts and doesn't enjoy school - it was really helpful that you showed one of the lessons and that you are an independent reviewer... am going to be signing-up tomorrow!
I found a link for scholarships while signing up. They reviewed my info (which was just my yearly salary) and emailed me an offer for $100/ year for my whole family. We are still on the one week trial. Thank you for your review!
Can you please share where to get the link for scholarship?? I would be so grateful, I certainly can’t afford $300+ dollars and my child needs this! Thank you!🙏
@@Recoverywitch57I haven’t been able to find anything on scholarships, just one that’s available to people in Arizona from the state education Dept it looks like. 😞
I appreciate this review! I think I’m going to use this as a review for summer learning. My boys are will be completing Beast Math Level 5 this year so I feel like this would be a fun way to work math into their summer without using a the dreaded workbook! 😅😅 😂 I’m interested in the critical thinking teaching too. Those are usually really fun concepts. Is that included in the membership or an additional fee?
It is a fun program the way they present things. I like watching when my daughter does it. The critical thinking "teams" program is separate. I hope to be able yo review it in an upcoming video!
Thanks so much for this review. I'm in consideration of sign up for this or e-Singapore math (also tempted after watching your review). You mentioned that Synthesis is a supplement program for your son. May I know what main program do you use for Math for your 9 year old? My 9 year old is a bit reluctant when learning Math.
We are using Dimensions Math now which is a print curriculum (but it's Singapore Math based), but what I like is that you can purchase the video lessons to go with it if you'd prefer not to teach the lessons yourself. I'm planning a review of that soon. As for an online program, I keep hearing people rave about Beast Academy. I also have my daughter do Prodigy for math practice which is a video game but you have to get the math questions right to refill your battle points or something like that. They have good parent insights, and you can do it for free (although to access the full features it's $9.95 a month I think.)
I got it but wondering is there enough material for a year, and what exactly will he learn?? Everything that is on his computer he already knows. I’ll probably ask the synthesis cs
This is a great question! I know the program is relatively new. I have noticed that they've added a few new lessons since my daughter started it, so I assume they will continue to add more.
This looks really exciting, but having no direct communication with the company while they have direct access to your credit card, monthly doesn’t seem wise.
Not that I know of with the AI tutor like this, but there are some great online programs. I have a couple videos about online reading programs on my channel that you may find helpful.
Hello everyone, I've always been a math tutor. Since I started studying at the city college and all the way through the 4 year university. Just wondering if any parents watching these videos have needed to actually find a private tutor for their kids (for math), how did you go about it? I'd like to speak with some of the homeschool institutions and see if they would spread my name around.
Good luck! You can offer your services on Outschool. I also suggest going on Facebook, joining your local homeschool groups and offering your services there. I'm sure many homeschool families are looking for great tutors!
Do you know how difficult or like what grade level it covers? My son is 11 and likes math. He is in teaching textbooks 7, but only Beast Academy 3. He can do most things up to pre Algebra. Not sure if it would be worth a try because it starts so easy.
Thank you Amanda, you safe me big money! To me this is not AI. The interaction between computer and student is very limited. If it is AI it should be able to answer counter-questions like ChatGPT. These are just mini games you have to play along the programmed tracks.
I wish they had some sort of pre-assessment to determine your level instead of startimg at the beginning. How long does it take more advanced kiddos to get through the program?
Even though this has topics like addition and subtraction, it definitely can help anyone gain a deeper understanding of these topics. You can jump around though, so you can just focus on the topics that your child needs more practice with. How long it takes depends on how much you use it. I also think they are still adding to it, as it's still relatively new. They do have a free trial so you can check it out and see if you like it!
My so is turning 9 soon, and is currently working on multiplication and division using fractions. The program seems too easy for him? I was hoping it covers more advanced topics.
You can pick the unit, but within the units you need to go in order and can't skip through. However, if the kids are answering everything correctly it will move faster than if they got some wrong and needed more practice.
Some of the lessons are longer than others but I'd say average is about 20 minutes a lesson. So one or 2 lessons a day maybe 2 or 3 days a week? My daughter has been doing 1 or 2 lessons twice a week.
There are 2 separate programs and they are very different. Teams is for problem solving/critical thinking and kids work together with other kids (online). Tutor is the math program.
Unfortunately you can't skip over the lessons as you need to complete certain lessons for more to be unlocked. But the units are separate, so you can just do the units that you need, such as fractions and multiplication.
I’m disappointed. This looks really boring. I imagine you’d need a really self disciplined and self directed kid to go at this on their own. But thanks for the review. It was great!
Aww that's too bad! It's funny my daughter usually digs in her heels, especially about math. She will DEFINITELY make it known when she doesn't like something we do. But she's been doing this once or twice a week for several months and so far no complaints. But all kids are different!
Not this one. When a video is sponsored you'll see the message at the beginning of the video that says "includes paid promotion" or something like that.

Are you guys still using this? 😊
Yes please cover synthesis critical thinking
Thanks for letting me know you're interested in seeing that! I'll try to do it very soon!

Oh that's amazing! I'm going to be reviewing Synthesis teams next month, I'm really excited to share that program with everyone!
@katieholmstadt1590 did you find that scholarship opportunity after signing up for the trial?

I should be coming out with that soon!

How do you do the 7 day free trial? I'm not seeing it anywhere on their site.

did you covered synthesis team we need it pleas if not
Not yet, I do plan to!

This seems to be the case with many online programs unfortunately.
Hi your guidance is really helpful to see if I should sign up the course or not! Appleciated!
I'm so glad to hear that! You're welcome!
Is there anything like this for language arts; reading, writing , grammar etc…

Yes! I am actually working with them on a video that should come out in August!

It's recommended for kids ages 9 to 11, but if your child already knows the material then it might not be the best choice.
@@AmandaMelrose have you tested/reviewed Khanmingo? It is AI tutor from Khan academy.
Can you move students through easier lessons if they would find some too easy?
You can pick the unit, but within the units you need to go in order and can't skip through. However, if the kids are answering everything correctly it will move faster than if they got some wrong and needed more practice.
Can this repoace a math curriculum for the year?
That definitely depends on your goals for your child, but personally I think this is more of a supplement.
@@AmandaMelrose what would you pair this with if I needed strictly online for now. Health issues
How much time do you reccommend/day?
Some of the lessons are longer than others but I'd say average is about 20 minutes a lesson. So one or 2 lessons a day maybe 2 or 3 days a week? My daughter has been doing 1 or 2 lessons twice a week.
Can you do and re-do lessons even if you pass them?
Yes you can.
❤
Is there a chapter for measurements?
Unfortunately no I don't see that.
so the membership, do not cover both programs?
so it.is more for beguiners....
There are 2 separate programs and they are very different. Teams is for problem solving/critical thinking and kids work together with other kids (online). Tutor is the math program.
You cannot ask Synthesis tutor questions. That makes it totally unmathematical.
Can you fww the lessons if kid know the content?

you just made a really long add did you get paid
Not for this video, no. If I did you would have seen the "paid sponsorship" label at the beginning of the video. Sorry you didn't find it helpful!
Can you talk to the tutor or you have to type in your answer?
I'm pretty sure you have to type it in.
Elonnnnn
is this for any operation system windows and Mac?
It's done online so it should work on any system I would assume, although I have windows only.

Not this one. When a video is sponsored you'll see the message at the beginning of the video that says "includes paid promotion" or something like that.
This “woman” is AI.
Well that would sure make it easier to make these videos!
Great Video. Question please: Can i switch the Tutor to another language, e.g. German ?
Thank you. Great question. I just looked and unfortunately I do not see any option to change the language, only the sound of the tutor's voice.
