Not gonna lie but LG makes some pretty good hardware. Whether that be their phones, TVs or sound systems their stuff is amazeballs. My mom just picked up a 49in LG 4K TV for like $289 and it is the first 4K TV I've ever seen and DAUWMN it looks GOOD! WebOS is pretty noice too. The TV also has """""HDR""""" but that probably just means it can interpret hdr content but it will not display it at a proper brightness because IPS yo.
It's a RS232 port on a 3.5mm headphone jack. You can control the TV using it. It's often used by hotels (Marriott for sure) so they can have a small PC control all your media and the TV with one remote. As a side note, you can unlock the controls on hotel TVs using these ports and a cheap RS232 to USB adapter. For example, if you want to fix the scaling (why do hotels always have it in the zoomed in mode?!) and use the hotel TV as a monitor for your PC to play your own content. I used to spend a lot of time on the road and bring a RS232 adapter with me plus an adapter to either plug into the DB9 or 3.5mm port on the TV. Then I can unlock the controls to allow me to use my PC with the TV.
How come this wasn't posted on the main channel? This high quality product deserves to be put on your higher watched channel more viewers and more response to what people think about the product . Keep up the videos!
Congrats on the pixels you won't even notice. You'll also probably only ever set games to 4K until ten years from now at the earliest, and even then not notice a difference. At least you got a 75'' though, so that's something. Although from how far away you sit, you might just be able to finally make out 4K. OLED + HDR is a bigger upgrade than resolution though.
Im happy with my 4k 70" vizio, paid $725 for it! ....My grandma keeps buying LG, she's on her 3rd 1 in a 6yrs! Meanwhile my old vizio lasted 10 years before I decided to stop waiting for it to die and just upgrade!
It's funny how Dave from EEVBlog just did a video on how cool the modern TV packaging is. Edit: You should play some games in 8k. That's the highest possible bitrate if your framerate is usable. It has Freesync, so why not?
It's prob heavy since it's not an OLED - it has great local dimming for a non OLED which prob contributes a lot? Pretty neat. I have heard the upsampling is good.
Hello, I'm a physical media collector. What is your suggestion for watching 4K blu-ray and vhs. Nanocell or oled tv? Do you think vhs will look very bad on this screen?
Did you guys namechange because of a lawsuit ? Because it does feel more and more like that... Also that IR blaster is to go from your TV to the settop box or surround sound so the TV can adjust those devices. Normally it goes to the settop box because surround is normally HDMI controlled.
Is there really a practical reason to still be presenting "cinematic" content at 24Hz? The only thing that is good for is immediately requiring suspension of disbelief.
That's basically it, a stylistic choise that is best displayed at it's native framerate (or a multiple thereof i.e. 48, 72, 96, 120 and so on) to avoid the stutter induced by some form of pull down algorithm.
I've got a decent 4K setup at home. The difference between HD and 4K resolution isn't as striking as from SD to HD but it is noticeable, especially if you have a good quality TV and a UHD Blu-ray player as your 4K source. You either need a big TV or a close viewing position to pick out obvious differences (like 1080p compression artefacts) but you notice a general sense of sharpness being better (with the effect being pretty minor across the room on a smaller screen) Streaming 4K is fine, well mastered UHD movies are just plain sharper (higher bitrate) and even plain old Blu-ray discs look quite good. However... The 4K resolution is utterly secondary to HDR. Increasing the colour bit depth (on a good screen - some fairly crappy low contrast screens claim to be HDR these days) is a night and day difference from SDR. A flower pops out as crimson rather than an unremarkable red. Plants look lush and verdant rather than just green. It's like someone turned up the volume on the colour. Seeing an iridescent hummingbird drinking nectar in HDR and the same picture in SDR is striking. The SDR looks dull and muted. The extra sharpness of the 4K is just gravy on the visual delight of good HDR.
How can you check that it is 8K when the source video does not have a preamble to let you know? BTW, I have the 86" Nano 90 4K. I live just north of you in Macclenny.
How good it is as a computer Monitor? I'm currently using cheap 40" 4k TV as my monitor and there is no 8k monitors >40" so that would be interesting test to see especially for productivity aspect. It would also be interesting if strategy games would probably be better in 8k and action games in 4k120hz but that is just my expectation. It took some adjustment to get accustomed to 40". It took some setting adjustments to get lots of readable text. I do need to get my business going well before making the purchase, but before it happens I'd definitely like to see some reviews of 8k TV:s that take that approach. Now I think with the distance I'm using the TV maximum reasonable size would be 50" but 75" monitor would just need to be moved to center of the desk to have same relative viewing area as 50" would have with my minimal area for keyboard distance. After a little bit of thinking I realized that is better since I could actually use my desk on other things than just being a stand for monitor, keyboard and mouse, since there would be decent area in front of the TV.
@Brainus The most important issue is readability of text, how much text you can fit and still be able to read comfortably. And actual practical experience of using it as a monitor for work PC. Yes these are quite subjective matters and depend on what tasks you use it for. But the interesting part would be actually after doing the TV tests moving it to your work PC and your experience of daily use it for a while as your sole monitor and what issues you had with such move and how it feels after adapting to it.
