Boy, the reviews for this game on GOG are brutal. Even GamerZakhn is low-key getting hate in this comment section for playing and enjoying the game. For me, nothing so far was a deal breaker to me. Music was weird but in this video there's some beautiful new arrangements. Also, can't wait to chain all those gardens together to create some awesome designs.
Haha it's a loud group. GOG reviews are brutal but it still rates 3.4/5. That's literally 6.8/10, even with those reviews it's basically ranking as a 6-7/10 game, which I think is fair considering the bugs and launch issues. Flat numbers are always misleading.
@DS Here's the problem. People criticise IGN for always ranking a game 7/10 because that's a 'good' rating and that they seem like they're paid off to never score anything lower than a 7/10. But if a game gets a 7/10 from user ratings, people say "this game sucks", "score is bombing", and "reviews are bashing it". "They should clearly tell you something is wrong" Yeah, 'something'. Not that 7/10 = terrible game, right? Worth investigating but you can't draw a conclusion, but everyone naturally draws conclusions when they see 3.5/5, so it's misleading. "Sometimes its best to pictures yourself in other peoples perspectives rather getting upset about the truth being spoken." What are you talking about? Who is upset? I quoted the exact rating number from the GOG reviews in question. 3.4/5 is literally 'other peoples perspectives'. I didn't give it 3.4, I haven't even left a review. 3.4/5 IS the truth and 3.4 looks a lot different if you say 6.8/10 instead. The truth is, 3-4/10 people are upset. 6-7 people are not upset. Statistically, that's the data. You seem to be inserting your own personal narrative into these numbers and projecting 'upset' onto me. You are upset, I am not, and me being objective and quoting actual user review numbers is not me being upset. Maybe you are upset that it isn't ranking lower?
@DS "The problem is that you want to wave this as a 50/50 thing and therefore it's fine?" What? It's not a 50/50 thing, it's a 6.8/10 thing. A 68/100 thing if you want. Many others agree with you? Of course! Literally 3-4/10 people agree with you. That's what I'm saying! 30-40% of people agree with you. The numbers straight up prove that. 60-70% of people disagree with you, that's it. That's reality. Is there a problem with these numbers that you don't like? You're now jumping across topics to avoid the issue. We're not talking about what the devs should add in or why marketing wasn't clear, we're talking about on GOG, the game has a 6.8/10 rating. If you don't like that, go leave a negative review. I'll say a different number if it was a different number.
@DS You're replying to a thread about review scores on GOG. I don't get paid by people using my sponsored link, they already paid me a flat fee. The success or failure of the game has nothing to do with me and doesn't affect me. You always just assume things like that? This thread is about review scores on GOG. Right now it's 6.8/10. Of course I understand everything you're saying, but it's got nothing to do with the GOG scores being 3.4/5 and that people think that's a bad score when it isn't.
I’ve put about 30 hours in the game so far and overall I really like it. Fans of an already existing game can be very tough to please, and this is one of my all-time favorite games that I’ve spent countless hours playing since my childhood. There are some changes I don’t love, but nothing that comes close to ruining the experience for me. The minimap being gone is annoying, and the new military system is very uninspired imo. I hated the military in the original also and it was way too difficult, but I think I like it better than this version. That’s a small part of the game though, the building is what counts in a game like this, and I think they did a very good job recreating the gameplay for that but tweaking it a bit to make it a much more enjoyable experience. The menu option for a global labor pool is awesome, and makes the game so much more enjoyable for me. I’ve encountered a handful of bugs, but only one that broke the level for me, and I was still able to load an earlier save and complete it without losing much work. I’m sure those little issues are being worked on as we speak, I noticed an update already downloaded so I’m sure some bugs are already fixed. I’m not ready to give an official rating yet but if I were to right now it’d be 7.5/10. If they fix the bugs and add a minimap I’d go over 8/10. I doubt they re-do the military system but if they did that would put it even higher for me. I have no idea why some people are losing their mind over this game, I guarantee Pharaoh doesn’t mean more to anyone else than me and I’m thoroughly enjoying this version.
