Tbh this video is kinda stupid. Genetically modifying corn says nothing about the processing of the corn harvested. In fact all corn that is produced for consumption is genetically modified. If you think this solves the problem food processing introduces, you’re wrong. Still, long live organic farmers and long live Mexican tradition of growing genetically diverse corn crops!

Actually, being a GMO doesn't mean it's less safe, "processed" or junk. It just means it's genetically modified.
Those crops have been in the market for decades and tested thoroughly.
That being said, a country that doesn't invest in GMO and has nothing to gain from it (besides cheaper prices) is in their right to ban them.
But don't vilify a technology that is safe and could be put to good use.

The best thing in the case of a widespread blight or drought is too have as many countries as possible producing food so as to mitigate the chances of any place suffering a famine since theyd be able to import in those special cases. I’ve never eaten the sweet, yellow American corn in Mexico 😅 We typically eat the kind that is whiter, more starchy, and way less sweet. So while I’m sure some people must be eating it (especially closer to the northern border where there’s more US influence), it’s not this widespread issue. But either way I’m glad it’s getting banned to direct more commerce towards Mexican-grown products. We have amazing produce here. So while they’re not wrong, the way they frame it is a bit of an exaggeration.

We'd buy these huge ears of corn cooked in giant iron kettles at the city parks, the kernels were the size of chestnuts and bursting with flavor. They had crumbled queso fresco and different seasonings to sprinkle on it, along with real butter. One ear of that corn was a meal.🤤
For breakfast every morning, we went to a fruit stand where one could pick out different fruits for smoothies made with goat milk. So delicious and healthy. I ate whatever was given to me, and I never got sick.

All corn is GMO, strawberries, bananas, oranges, lemons, limes, peppers, it's all been selectively breed to produce something we have today. It doesnt make it bad. In most case they take a tomato plant that's got a great root system and is resistant to things that harm other tomato plans, and splice on a plant that has a high yield of fruit and has other properties like being resistant to pests. No pesticides needed. But it classifies as a GMO. Hell, both plants were GMO before. It's just selective breeding to produce stronger plants with better yields. There's zero chemicals involved. It's an entirely natural process that we've gone since biblical times. So what it modifies is how quickly the plant will grow, the abundance of the harvest and it’s resistance to disease, with no effect on your health, without GMO’s we wouldn’t have enough food to sustain our planet’s population, what you do have to worry about is them not properly cleaning the food after spraying it with pesticides to avoid crops being wiped out, please do research before jumping to conclusions 😁

Actually a lot of avocados come from Peru now, ugly little thing happening in that country atm, anyway, almost 100 gallons of water are needed to grow a single avocado, essentially, getting México's or peru's health packed avocados is getting billions of gallons of water as well, México's government, isn't banning corn at all, the government found credible indications for GMO corn to be a cause for cancer, thus, they decreed the GMO corn can only be used to feed animals, we will continue to buy from American farmers, but it'll be a reduced amount from today's consumption, there's another problem, Mexico is where corn, DOMESTICATED corn comes from , we do have many more varieties of corn than the stereotypical corn we all know, big companies like Monsanto/Bayer with their "proprietary " GMO corn have a terrible fame works wide of going around and screwing over anybody who without knowing it gets their production cross pollinated with the neighbors GMO corn fields and applying lawsuits to claim that cross pollinated corn is now theirs, because they own the patent thus the owner is no longer the owner, just like that, according to them..., that little game ain't something ANYONE wants, specially in the land of corn, if the previously mentioned doesn't apply ,the simple fact of dominating markets because their pest resistant and weed killing herbicide resistant crops always have that advantage is bad enough to think we will become 100% dependant on a staple crop when it's completely unnecessary, , if on top of all of that, we are also supposed to potentially get cancer!?.... we don't think so, yet this companies are trying to push it down our throats, claiming some bs about the USMCA, without proving the corn is actually safe and I bet offering no assurances that they'll take care of the consequences when they come up, if it wasn't a problem, then why do we read NON GMO in many boxes of cereal and other food items? That's right

You really might want to look more into what they mean when they say GMO. They aren't talking about mad scientists in a lab injecting chemicals into plants to change their genetics. It's literally just crossbreeding to get a higher quality and healthier plant. Every tomato, carot, pepper, and so one in your produce section, even fruit, have been engineered to what they are today by humans doing this over millenia. GMO is such a broad definition that even rice falls into the category. It's just selective breeding.
