Indeed good to find out about him. Like wise I end up playing goody two shoes (besides lock picking everything in sight), I just cant seem to be overly bad. Teach us Oxhorn! Teach us how to be naughty! lol
I like to think as Jericho as a father figure for an evil character. Your dad runs away from you. And you meet this old man that you can go out and explore the wastes with. He teaches you about the wasteland and all the things in it and how to survive. Being like a father out there in the Wasteland.
Rena Ami Akai exactly, the only other people we see live that old are rich business owners who never lifted a finger to do shit in there life but I’d definitely argue that people such as Alfred Tenpenny and littlehorn from little horn and associates are definitely more evil than Jericho because of the matter of free will. Jericho didn’t have much of a choice whereas they do so in that way it makes jerichos behaviours more understandable and even excusable because it was shown to work and he lived longer than a lot of people. But finally because he was smart enough to realise his age had caught up to him and sought his redemption and for that he should be judged upon what benefits he brings to society now than earlier
I just rob everything in Megaton at the start of the game, the earnings from selling it all more than pays for his fee and that early it sets you evil instantly
I have a no karma checks needed for companions mod and I love Jericho as a companion to a sainty character. I just love the essentially almost canonical idea of this grumpy old man taking one look at the LW and going "this is a good kid. Anyone messes with them will have to go through me"
My character had extremely good Karma but in the start of the game I needed a companion so I gained a tiny amount of bad karma and recruited him, I didn't like him at first but he grew on me, Sure he wasn't a hero or even moral but I remember when a pack of grenades fell from the roof on the hospital floor when we were saving those mercenaries and me getting up after being knocked over and waiting for Jericho to get up but realising he died, I shed a tear I gained major respect for him, giving his life for others like Your character and their dad did Not a Hero but a worn down and regretful man who gave his life and inspired my character to actually sacrifice himself for the good for the wasteland Long live the memory of Jericho.
I remember when I wanted to recruit Jericho in a good playthrough so I did the most evil thing imaginable and open and closed a terminal a bunch of times.
Jericho was always my fave companion, when I found out he was so old I legit found I got more respect for him. Is Jericho a good man? No. But he's trying. The only thing he has going for him is that every obstacle life put in front of him he overcame in some way. He lives with his demons and has survived longer than practically any raider you encounter in the other games that I know of. For a man his age, he looks great. He has seen some heavy shit in his time, but regardless will not hesitate to pull the trigger. Jericho should not be who we aspire to be, but should be respected for surviving for so long and still accepting to defend the town.
Same here bro took him there survived the whole thing until the end where we kept getting killed by the brotherhood of steel untill I've managed to kill all of them.
Whilst he might be a evil man, I also think he is mainly a Survivor. In the world of Fallout, if you are too good, that could lead to your death. If you want to live to an old age, unless you live in a town like Megaton, to live for a long time, you'll have to do things you wouldn't normally do. And sometimes that means killing or joining a group like the raiders. So I say whilst he's evil, that's because of the type of world he was living in, several of the fittest, he would had to do what he had to live in the wrist lands if he didn't live in somewhere like Megaton. It was either kill by a raider, or become one.
Liam Lane But you aren't forced to do those things. Every single main character in every Fallout game is evidence that you can be as pure as possible and still prosper.
You're right, some aren't forced to become raiders, I'll admit to that, but I ask you this, what would you do if you are hungry, trusty, slowly dying, what would you do if that happens? No one would know what you would do, if it is dying or doing things that you would never thought of doing. Those who have a decent enough life and happy with it, you wouldn't become one. But with a bad luck in life, don't know when you're going to eat next, or run with the bad lot, you are more than likely going to become a raider. So Jericho could one such life, hungry, living rough and than a group of people come and give him food and shelter, and these people are raiders looking up to build up their group for one reason or another. What is a young Jericho going to do?
All that is true, but also highlights how being a survivor isn't a path of roses, and it can turn a person to evil, because altruism does not fit with a dog-eats-dog mentality. And it's probably why raiders are an endemic problem to Fallout. People become jaded and accept all the morally abhorent things that survival demands from them, and instead of building up something, they selfishly take because cynicism taught them anything you build to make the wasteland better is destroyed by the first raider gang that comes to take what you've acquired, so the people who become raiders just want to beat others to the punch. But the Lone Wanderer is not from such a bleak world, and has the potential to change the wasteland, and by contrast, that makes a nihilist like Jericho bad.
Bah never stopped me from playing goody two shoes, if your a badass you can always be polite as pie, only the folks that are weak have malice. I mean desenstation does not create the need to be a bastard. I mean I have been hungry, starving to the point of organ failure, never robbed anyone for food. I just try harder to find some to make the pain go away, but who needs self induced pain of guilt? Empathy is increased the more you suffer, and a hard life does not create a lack of it. Conversely your empathy is a bit less on a massive dose of painkillers. Meaning a prerequisite to empathy is to suffer. Sociopathic traits are much higher in folks with a good life and not a whole lot of suffering. Percentage of folks with said traits are much higher for COEs, and high ranking public officials than you average person.. Psychopathic traits though are found in the child well before they are an adult from good or bad environments so is probably largely genetic.
Ooo i like this a lot, i like this because you could just say he’s a bad person because you need bad karma to recruit him, but you choose to an in depth look at his actions and psychology. Great job!
DrIvanRadosivic haha i know it’s not hard to get him as a companion before i normally rush blowing up megaton for the caps, xp, and player home right off the start of the game. I always end up forgetting about the poor old man
The only reason you need bad Karma is because he's doesn't want to roll with someone who isn't ready for the harshness of the Capital wasteland. Jericho himself is fairly neutral.
Super Saiyan Goddess that and sometimes it’s creepy when someone is overtly nice, you wonder what alternate motive they might have. Sometimes it’s just easier to trust a simple man who may do bad things but doesn’t shadow his motives. An example would be covenant in fallout 4.
Always loved Jericho. Used him as my companion through the majority of my first time playing Fallout 3. Still use him on occasion, though I prefer sergent RL-3 more now. Shall never forget the time when I got suprised by some raiders, only for them to get cut down in seconds. Then turned around to find Jericho casually holding a gattling laser (which I never gave him, so I presume he picked it up off a supermutant without my notice) in one hand while bringing a cigarette to his lips with his other hand. Was quite badass.
I hate people adamant about being good. Its a goddamn game have some fun. It brings more fun all around and you don't have to be the most evil guy our there
I think Jericho is kind of sad, to be honest. He was a terrible man, but murderers seldom become murderers because of their good upbringing. I always felt bad for him because he would try to go on a date with Nova and she'd reject him - not that I can blame her after witnessing that exchange with Jenny. Jericho feels bad about himself and realizes how useless he is now that he's aged. He's - at the heart of it all - an insecure man with a terrible past. Had evil Vault Dweller not intervened he'd lived out the rest of his days trying to leave that past behind.
if he is around when grenades go off he remarks about incoming pineapples. which i always thought odd how do you know of or about pineapples let alone the nickname that those shape of grenades have
Well, he's been around, raided for years. He might have seen something in a military ruin or the like. That or maybe he knew or heard it from a pre-war ghoul who fought in the war against China?
Granted he's elderly yes but I doubt most people that grew up in the wastes are legible enough to read that much doubly so for wasters who become raiders. The ghoul idea seems the most plausible due to not knowing how long he's been in megaton and possibly heard it off a wanderer or trader but I doubt he'd have talked to any ghouls during his time in the wasteland
Probably just due to the term being widespread before the war. I'm sure plenty of survivors and raiders still use the term, even if they have no idea what an actual pineapple is. Sort of like how there are some slang today that people don't even know what the hell means, but still say it anyways.
On one of my first playthroughs, I remember grabbing every glass, fork, cup, plate, and can in Megaton to sell it for the steep cost of his company. Eventually, I made enough caps to recruit him. It was then that I decided to venture into (at the time for me) an unknown wasteland. I crossed the river near Farragut, and kept going into the city. There was a Super Mutant blockade of steel beams and old cars, still volatile. I tried my best to engage with my Hunting Rifle, and Jericho rushed in to the middle of the 3+ muties while seemingly hip-firing his Chinese Assault Rifle. Some of the stray shots from the battle had hit one of the Corvegas, leaving an impending nuclear explosion. The last words I heard before the boom were, "Are you fuckin' kiddin' me?!" And shortly after, a message appeared onscreen... "Jericho has died!"
My first playthrough was with this guy 'cause of how tough he seemed and I love these kind of characters in video games. I remembered I kinda cried when I was trying to get to The Pit with him but he died by the slavers that keep the slave you're supposed to get the clothes from. We had so many good times. -R.I.P Jericho
Hey oxhorn, I think it would be funny if you made an April first video but instead of telling a story from legitimate fallout lore, you tell a completely ridiculous story that is very obviously not in the lore. For example, you are in sanctuary and find a boby pin in a container, you later find a traveling sales man who also sells boby pins and pretend that these two random scenes are somehow related. Or you could even add ridiculously terrible photoshopped images in the video as if it was part of the game. And the WHOLE TIME, you don't break character. You pretend that it's actually part of the game/lore It's just a thought. And I think this idea could have a lot if hilarious potential. I'm sure it would be funny if you tried.
Makin' 65 in that environ..... Damn impressive. In my little bit of play, I took him to be brusque, but all right. I was nice to him, and he chilled out a bit.
He does and he writes Gob over Moriarty's name on the sign outside. Nova will quit being a prostitute without Moriarty forcing her into it. Unfortunately Gob doesn't get any new dialogue about Moriarty's death or taking over the saloon and he still acts like Moriarty is alive when you talk to him.
I hired Jericho for my grayest playthrough yet, where from the perspective of the Lone Wanderer being traumatized by the transition to this world picking, trying to fit the characters generally good headspace around some of the darker choices in the game. Just today, as of writing this comment, he was finally done in when some Talon Company Mercs ambushed us while we were hunting Radscorpions. Of course in his last moments he probably thought the Talon was coming for him, and the Lone Wanderer now lives with the guilt of knowing Jericho died while they survived the hit, that was actually coming for themselves.
"What are ya doin' kid!? We're out here playing Santa Claus!!" Jericho was my companion redeemed. We enlisted into the BoS together and despite his hostile attitude towards my karma, he kept me alive through thick and thin. Lost his life to albino scorps in my plauthrough.
Jericho pretty much is the exact definition of doing what you have to do to survive on the wasteland to survive Jericho and rl-3 are my favorite companions
John Herrera He further proves this with his recognition that raiding at his age would kill him. He’s not just some evil bastard doing things for the heck of it, must have soon good instincts to have lived this long and realise a losing battle when he sees one.
Where do people in fallout get cigarrettes? is there a factory-tobacco-farm? XD just curious as a smoker myself... it would be easier to find rolling tobacco not packs, wouldnt it?... i dunno
Jericho's backstory is the most interesting. Fawkes, Charon and Clover's too but, Jericho is a retired raider. He could have nemesis out there, he could know some of the slavers in Paadise Falls, and maybe some people would know who he is, maybe he killed their families or something. As Jericho says, he soent too much time out there he has ghosts that may be getting lose to him. Man... all the possibilities. Jericho's follower quests woukd have been the most fun... and violent hahaha
Not about changing into a better man, nor about his confidence getting shot. Simply put, Jericho is one of the few people in town with a permanent home. People come and go all the time. To trade for items, buy food, eat there, buy drinks, to -buy- rent Nova. But Megaton is Jericho's home. He's lived as a raider. Done what he had to in order to survive, as well as thrive out there. Now he's basically retired. Wakes up, drinks to his heart's content thanks to the Bar being a few steps away from where he lives. He finally has a place where he can lay his head down without worrying he'll get attacked if one of his raider buddies falls asleep instead of being awake for guard duty. He can simply lock his door, and sleep for hours without keeping one eye open. Also, in case other raiders attack; everyone in town runs to him for help and protection. And apparently, he still knows how to fight and shoot. So each time that happens, he's the hero of Megaton. He's respected. Even a bit feared by the others. _Why in the world would he risk losing his home, an easy walk to the Bar, and all of that respect; by stealing some caps from Colin?_ Jericho at this point is more of a mercenary than a raider. And he thinks like one too. To a real Merc, if the risks aren't worth the rewards; they simply don't take the job. Yes, it is indeed that simple. In this case, Jericho clearly has decided that robbing Colin simply isn't worth it compared to what he'll risk losing if caught.
I don't know a lot about evil companions because I usually play a good karma character, but when I did my evil karma playthrough I dumped him very soon, he's a boring character and he usually doesn't help a lot in combat Oh btw Ox, are you planning to do videos on the other companions like Clover and Fawkes?
It would’ve been cool if there was a Companion quest for Jericho to help him come to terms with his demons and bury his past. Even stop or convince Moriarty from blackmailing him. As a reward, not only would you get a perk from helping him, but he’ll let you recruit him again without any karma check the next time you fire him.
Lol yeah it was easy to get low karma in fallout 3 without even trying. Not alot of opportunities to gain good karma but alot of shiny shit everywhere to steal and annoying NPCs to loot. Playing fallout 4 right now and I'm not sure if there even is a karma system. Alot easier to have higher karma in that as theft detection is just a dice roll now so it ain't worth it. Hell I've stolen one thing in this playthrough and it didn't matter that I body bumped those summer shorts 100 meters out of sight. I still heard that robot screaming in the distance the moment I picked it up.
jericho is genuinely my favorite companion in this game: he and my lone wanderer were running up to the washington monument when he pulled his “hey hey, watch the roofs. there could be snipers anywhere.” and i literally fell in love. he’s a smart-ass and problematic as hell but i love him to death 💕
Jericho is definitely my favourite companion from Fallout 3, and the way I see it, he is (or would be) a perfect first companion for the Lone Wanderer story- and charater development-wise (regardless of karma on the moment of recruitment IF ONLY IT WAS POSSIBLE). Why? Because he's the first potential companion the Wanderer meets, experienced in all the "fucked uppery" of the wastes, still a decent fighter despite his age and ruthless enough to be a sort of "wasteland mentor" to the young lil' twerp from the Vault, this kid who's been raised in a pretty non-violent environment with comfortable enough access to supplies and even simple luxuries of life. This brat who just recently faced his/her first life-death situation, had to kill former neighbours and aquintances just to SURVIVE, only to end up fleeing out into the wasteland (with whatever scarce hastily grabbed supplies available), the door behind him/her shut "forever" and about jack shit in regards to survival skills and the required grit to survive out there. I mean for fuck's sake, the Lone Wanderer fresh out of the vault *should be* collapsing on the scenic overlook, raging and sobbing his/her heart out for an hour because of the trauma of what just happened to him/her. The only parent gone, Jonas KILLED just like that (and seeing the beaten corpse on the way out), live/death combat with the security, permanent loss of home and friends and likely love interest (Amata). The entirety of this vault dweller's known, safe life pulled away from them in a matter of moments because of other people's actions with no control over these events at all, coupled with 0 experience of the horrors waiting outside. Even a random MOLERAT passing by should be enough to terrify this youngster into near hysteria when you consider the background. He/she would likely experience at least mild agoraphobia (fear of open spaces) as well. So how does one explain that a barely adult man/woman from a (mostly) peaceful Vault with an upbringing from a moral guy like James just suddenly develops enough mental fortitude and skill to survive the constant conflict in the Wasteland after their first few steps out? A freshly kicked out Vault brat popping the heads off raiders just like that? Daring to venture into dark, forsaken ruins in search of loot? Making decisions that alter the fates of numerous people and settlements in the wastes? _Reeks_ of meta-gaming to me. It's not like Raiders or other beasts of the wasteland give a fair chance to some youngster who's still either hesitating to shoot another human, or is too terrified and grossed out by their hideous mutated form and size to shoot straight (likely because he/she would be running for the hills at the sight of the first giant ant). Jericho offers IMO the best believable explanation as to why the Lone Wanderer hardens up so quickly and begins the journey towards becoming a legend of the wastes. The kid stumbles into town and gets the first tastes of various realities of the wastes (goddamn Moriarty), and meets Jericho among other people in Megaton. The kid SHOULD be hesitant to even venture back outside the town by himself/herself despite the need to find James, and then there's this bona fide tough guy who's rude at first, but cuts the kid a break if he/she snaps back at him a little. An older guy with an attitude and no qualms about displaying it. A man (quite relatably) pissed off at the world. Something a young, desperate, displaced young guy or gal might admire and look up to. Jericho wants to go back out there to enjoy the lifestyle he once had (or something close enough to it anyway) but understands the risks for a lone guy (at his age), and has thus remained in town, playing it nice enough until now. Then along comes this inexperienced kid clearly in need of some harsh lessons, but with at least a bit of guts and determination since he/she talks to Jericho in the first place and keeps at it despite the initial hostility on Jericho's part. The kid clearly has potential and is in dire need to head out there in the wasteland to find his/her dad etc. but also displays clear hesitation to do so alone. A good enough match. Their needs meet and their journey together starts, which in turn allows for good character development potential on both sides. Maybe they deal with the Silver-situation together. Maybe the Wanderer decides that he/she needs Silver's money to pay Jericho's fee. Having a badass like that watching his/her back in the wastes is pretty damn useful, after all. Helps in finding dad, at least. Maybe it's Jericho's idea that the kid/they together should clear out the nearby ruins of Springvale elementary school from the raiders that live there. A proper baptism by fire for the kid whether or not Jericho is there, to ease him/her into killing humans. It's easy to see this happening even for a good character if Jericho remembers to mention that the raiders there are all fucked up killers that prey on the caravans that supply Megaton, and that the town itself doesn't have the able bodies with guns to just clear them out. (And all that loot is nice too... Would help a lot in paying that fee for Jericho's supplies...) If the Wanderer turns bad, into a ruthless killer, slaver, raider, chemhead lunatic, whatever, it's easy to see where that influence came from and they become partners in raiding. If the Wanderer keeps to his/her dad's moral guidelines even after getting hardened up by the wastes and Jericho's lessons, maybe Jericho grows fed up with this "goody-two-shoes bullshit" and can be eventually dismissed as a companion because of this conflict of interests, allowing for new companions like Charon, Star Paladin Cross and Fawkes to fill the gap, or maybe, just _maybe_ Jericho learns to admire that moral determination in a way, and even sees a form of redemption in the kid and the good he/she does to the wastes. (The payments from grateful saved wastelanders and getting left alone by the Regulators etc. help too.)
He was one of my favourites to bring along. I have a mind for survival and endurance. I don't like things that are unreliable and fragile, just like people. Jericho obviously knows how to handle himself and fight.
omg i knoooow! lol when Ox got to the end of the vid and talked about the time he attempted to "murder" Jenny, i thought to myself "wait a second, did Ox not get that metaphoric innuendo there?", cuz hes definitely not talking about an actual gun barrel, that just wouldnt make sense to the way he acts toward her in the random encounter, although i guess either situation would make her act that way to him, but she says "food is all she'll have for him" i mean c'mon. . . "slip her the old gun barrel"? . . . . "lucky it didnt go off, which would have given her clan / family something to crap about"? he forced himself on her, and actually did it im guessing cuz the only way he would worry if the "gun" went off is if it was in a position to produce offspring, the only thing that suggests he may not have is the word "tried" in the terminal but with the worry of it "going off" its still kinda mixed there
i love jericho. he was the first companion i ever took. my first lone wanderer was a pretty angry violent girl, so as soon as i met him and he called her an asshole, i was like, "ah, yes. this is the one. i don't need to meet any of the other companions." and then i stuck with him for the rest of the game. he's easily one of my favorite companions from any of the games, but he was my *first* companion since fo3 was the first fallout i ever played. so i have that kind of sentimental attachment to him. ;;
One my ps3 play through i had to sell half my weapons for 1000 caps and kill big town just to recruit jericho and when i stumbled apon a enclave outpost he died and he had power armor POWER ARMOR!! He gets really pissed when you make him wait
Eris Everblight Yes and I liked that so I decided it would be best to just leave him at megaton from a role play perspective rather than take him as a companion. Besides it might make the residents more open minded about outsiders.
He’s not overtly bloodthirsty or overtly good in my opinion he’s neutral for his smart behaviour and survivalist attitude that allows him to adjust to his climate “when in Rome do as the Romans do”
He was my favourite, in my first gameplay he killed everything before I could even unholster my gun, I loved how he screamed "two hits kid !!" and smoked if u gave him cigarrettes
Strangely I never thought of him as a bad guy. He did what he had to do to survive in the wasteland and some of that's pretty horrifying but now he's just a grumpy old man. Not really a bad person.
I know this might go against some role-playing/immersion standards you may have, but a good fallout 3 mod you could use to help improve and make companions in the game easier is "Ultimate Companion Overhaul" by VampireMonkey. It removes karma requirements, makes them all essential, allows you to have all of them at once, adds companion perks, and allows you to set a home for all of them to return to (I like to put them near my Megaton home, I go there more often than my suite in Tenpenny Tower). The only bug I've noticed, and this might be due to a different mod that allows Amata to be a companion I've noticed it happening after I installed that mod, is that Charon won't leave me alone no matter how many times I dismiss him or tell him to go home. Even if Charon wasn't my first actual companion, he's the only one that's like this. If I go somewhere like Point Lookout or finish the Vault 87 quest, he just returns to Underworld. Otherwise, this mod pretty much makes my solo adventure pretty much a DnD party. Edit: I just remembered another bug. Butch is difficult to get as a companion, especially for me (again because of the Amata mod). He's automatically at the bar at Rivet City once you leave the vault, but when you talk to him his dialogue is the same as the quest "Trouble on the Homefront" asking him what he does at the vault, so you can't recruit him until that quest is competed just right. For me, I had to use console commands to complete that quest just right to get the right ending to get him as a companion. This bug might be because of the Amata mod since it conflicts with quest requirements.
The only time I ever had him as a companion, he killed the guy in Minefield, who I was supposed to enslave. He managed to snipe the bastard across town with that assault rifle of his. I was pissed, but I figured I could at least loot the old sniper holed up in that office building. I was disarming mines on my way over there, but Jericho must have spotted a bloatfly, and gunned it straight through the majority of mines, going out in a blaze of suicidal glory.
First time I made Jericho wait somewhere and then came back (pretty sure it was before fighting the Behemoth at GNR), his response made me laugh so much I been traveling with ever since in my Fallout 3 playthroughs.
Jericho looks kinda like kellog to be honest
I thought the same thing!
Alfie Welton
It's the leather armor and the baldness.
Holy hell. Yea he does.
tbf, its more likely that he's Kellogg's son, what with all the augments and such
I think Kellogg is based off of a mix of Jericho, The Lone Wanderer, The Chosen One, and a small bit of Fawkes

I have never had much to do with this guy because I usually play a good character. It is interesting to actually find out more about him, thanks.
I'm always a goody two shoes

I used to always be ‘Very Evil’ but after watching some of Oxhorn’s videos I decided to give being a good guy for a change. Going good so far.

That's the same reason I love Cait from FO4...lol...she yells some mean shit at my enemies.
Jericho: Thought I was gonna grow a fourth arm sitting next to all that radiation
Me: ...Fourth arm-...? Wha- oh. OH! Jericho oh my god!!
A fourth arm? I didn't notice that before, good eyes, or ears?
Gannon the " third arm" is his Dick. Get It? It's so big it's kinda like a third arm. That's why he's talking about growing a fourth one.
Cassie Moyles now I want to get enough bad karma to have him as a companion just to hear that line
Ha, I didn't catch that, good lord that is rich.
he might have a weird tiny arm on his stomach or something you dont know!
I like to think as Jericho as a father figure for an evil character. Your dad runs away from you. And you meet this old man that you can go out and explore the wastes with. That's actually pretty wholesome tbh.
Jericho might have raped jenny stahl from megaton
@Naman 'Don Juan' just stating that he's pretty fucked up, doesn't mean he's still a good companion?
MIKEDOES what the hell are you on about
He's the Walter White of the Wastleland
I can see how making it over the age of 30 is rare in this universe, so to make it into his 60s, that is impressive.
I gained major respect for him, giving his life for others like Your character and their dad did
Not a Hero but a worn down and regretful man who gave his life and inspired my character to actually sacrifice himself for the good for the wasteland
Long live the memory of Jericho.
I remember when I wanted to recruit Jericho in a good playthrough so I did the most evil thing imaginable and open and closed a terminal a bunch of times.
Jesus Christ it’s just a video game character

Just reload a save mate

I never realized he was that old geez
Same. I thought he was in his late-40's or early-50's.
1st time I played Fallout 3 I was too terrified to leave Megaton that I needed Jericho to help me leave lol
Me too bro
Nah, those metros got to me, i would always try to find a way around lol.
Same also on Skyrim I was too scared to leave riverwood so I had to get Sven as a companion first

Jericho should not be who we aspire to be, but should be respected for surviving for so long and still accepting to defend the town.
damn nigga it’s not that deep

@@pretzelpop78 um there's people living in the fallout universe unaided and unmutated to 100 so it's not far fetched
This dude was the only companion I ever managed to get to join me in FO3, I tried playing a good character, but I really liked to steal stuff in 3.
I only used jericho in my first gameplay, all the god damn time. He even survived the broken steel DLC. What a beast.

Liam Lane The Desert Rangers were overtly good, and some of them have 20+ years of experience
Great job!
I’ve never had a playthrough with him because ever bad karma character i make blows up megaton before i can recruit him
DrIvanRadosivic haha i know it’s not hard to get him as a companion before i normally rush blowing up megaton for the caps, xp, and player home right off the start of the game. I always end up forgetting about the poor old man
The only reason you need bad Karma is because he's doesn't want to roll with someone who isn't ready for the harshness of the Capital wasteland. Jericho himself is fairly neutral.
Super Saiyan Goddess he's programmed with an Evil karma though.
Jericho is THAT old? Damn I always thought he was 40 or 50 something max.

"Tap that ash." I laughed harder than I should've at that.
My younger brother, always plays an immoral character, he never traveled the wasteland without Jericho.
More like trying to elude the consequences of it.
Does anyone else get a 'Carl from Aqua Teen Hunger Force' vibe from Jericho?
Oh wow. Jenny Stahl is the mail order bride.
Lucas Simms is Frylock
Moriarty is Master Shake
Moira is Meatwad

Jericho’s my favorite. He was always my first, and usually, permanent companion throughout playthroughs.
if he is around when grenades go off he remarks about incoming pineapples. which i always thought odd how do you know of or about pineapples let alone the nickname that those shape of grenades have
Well, he's been around, raided for years.
Jolly Jester
Yeah I too figured he may not know what an actual pineapple is
Jolly Jester I'm your huckleberry.
It would be funny if companions commented on the outfits that were put on them. Beside faction armor

Glad you're doing a video on Jericho, he's my favorite companion in Fallout 3.
You pretend that it's actually part of the game/lore
It's just a thought. And I think this idea could have a lot if hilarious potential. I'm sure it would be funny if you tried.

I would be curious to hear your thoughts on Moriarty. I killed him because I wanted Gob to take over the saloon.
Does he actually take iver the saloon??
He does and he writes Gob over Moriarty's name on the sign outside. Nova will quit being a prostitute without Moriarty forcing her into it. Unfortunately Gob doesn't get any new dialogue about Moriarty's death or taking over the saloon and he still acts like Moriarty is alive when you talk to him.
That's still pretty cool. I'd like to believe no new dialogue was cut content or lack of time/funds. I'ma have me some funsss with the ol' boy >:3

Jericho's backstory is the most interesting. Fawkes, Charon and Clover's too but, Jericho is a retired raider. As Jericho says, he soent too much time out there he has ghosts that may be getting lose to him.

I wish there were an option to "redeem" Jericho, but then again it is cool having a literal raider as your companion.
Finally, someone has shown some proper respect to old raider!
"Good old fashion violence" is one of the best lines
I don't know a lot about evil companions because I usually play a good karma character, but when I did my evil karma playthrough I dumped him very soon, he's a boring character and he usually doesn't help a lot in combat
Oh btw Ox, are you planning to do videos on the other companions like Clover and Fawkes?
Yes, eventually.
Especially Fawkes!!
Dead Fox correct me if I'm wrong, but I think he covered Fawkes already
No I think he hasn't covered him, only Charon
Dead Fox odd Jericho is one of the best companions in combat though
It would’ve been cool if there was a Companion quest for Jericho to help him come to terms with his demons and bury his past. Even stop or convince Moriarty from blackmailing him. As a reward, not only would you get a perk from helping him, but he’ll let you recruit him again without any karma check the next time you fire him.
I remember always becoming "bad" and immediately going to Jericho so he could become my follower
Lol yeah it was easy to get low karma in fallout 3 without even trying. Not alot of opportunities to gain good karma but alot of shiny shit everywhere to steal and annoying NPCs to loot.
Playing fallout 4 right now and I'm not sure if there even is a karma system. Alot easier to have higher karma in that as theft detection is just a dice roll now so it ain't worth it.

jericho is genuinely my favorite companion in this game: he and my lone wanderer were running up to the washington monument when he pulled his “hey hey, watch the roofs. there could be snipers anywhere.” and i literally fell in love. he’s a smart-ass and problematic as hell but i love him to death 💕
Would help a lot in paying that fee for Jericho's supplies...)
If the Wanderer turns bad, into a ruthless killer, slaver, raider, chemhead lunatic, whatever, it's easy to see where that influence came from and they become partners in raiding.
(The payments from grateful saved wastelanders and getting left alone by the Regulators etc. help too.)
RuSosan great analysis. Love it.
He was one of my favourites to bring along. I have a mind for survival and endurance. I don't like things that are unreliable and fragile, just like people. Jericho obviously knows how to handle himself and fight.
_Evil man or survivor?_
Well there is that one time documented on Moriarty's terminal when he tried to rape Jenny Stahl...
omg i knoooow! lol when Ox got to the end of the vid and talked about the time he attempted to "murder" Jenny, i thought to myself "wait a second, did Ox not get that metaphoric innuendo there?", cuz hes definitely not talking about an actual gun barrel, that just wouldnt make sense to the way he acts toward her in the random encounter, although i guess either situation would make her act that way to him, but she says "food is all she'll have for him"
i mean c'mon. . . "slip her the old gun barrel"? . . . . "lucky it didnt go off, which would have given her clan / family something to crap about"? he forced himself on her, and actually did it im guessing cuz the only way he would worry if the "gun" went off is if it was in a position to produce offspring, the only thing that suggests he may not have is the word "tried" in the terminal but with the worry of it "going off" its still kinda mixed there
The video started at 0.75 speed for some reason and I thought you hit your head. Fixed it a few seconds later. Good video, my dude.
You know it's going to be a good day when you check your subscriptions and see Oxhorn posted a video!
basshead then i guess 6 days out of the week are good days. Cause Ox is awesome like that.

Hahaha u know I thought he was joking but I wasn't sure. didn't wanna come off as a ass hole.
Gary! Gary Gary? Gary!!!!
i love jericho. he was the first companion i ever took. my first lone wanderer was a pretty angry violent girl, so as soon as i met him and he called her an asshole, i was like, "ah, yes. this is the one. i don't need to meet any of the other companions." and then i stuck with him for the rest of the game. he's easily one of my favorite companions from any of the games, but he was my *first* companion since fo3 was the first fallout i ever played. so i have that kind of sentimental attachment to him. ;;
One my ps3 play through i had to sell half my weapons for 1000 caps and kill big town just to recruit jericho and when i stumbled apon a enclave outpost he died and he had power armor POWER ARMOR!! He gets really pissed when you make him wait
0:29 honestly as you get older that’s just a mood
He said growing a fourth arm when he was next to the megaton ruins does that mean he has a third one?
yep, in his pants
;)
He's suprisingly powerful. Completely annihalated Megaton
It's quite sad ox has so many subs and is so good but he gets little likes.
He's evil but he's protective of what he considers his that includes megaton aka HIS home
Eris Everblight Yes and I liked that so I decided it would be best to just leave him at megaton from a role play perspective rather than take him as a companion. Besides it might make the residents more open minded about outsiders.
He’s not overtly bloodthirsty or overtly good in my opinion he’s neutral for his smart behaviour and survivalist attitude that allows him to adjust to his climate “when in Rome do as the Romans do”
More realistic than most companions
One nice fact about Jericho is that if you kill him, you lose karma even considering his evil nature and dark raider past.
He was my favourite, in my first gameplay he killed everything before I could even unholster my gun, I loved how he screamed "two hits kid !!" and smoked if u gave him cigarrettes
Please make a video about raven rock please
Strangely I never thought of him as a bad guy. He did what he had to do to survive in the wasteland and some of that's pretty horrifying but now he's just a grumpy old man. Not really a bad person.
Well he is a good person if you kill him or he dies there is no finger to take. The loan wonderer came and tempted him into wrong doing.
Don't good characters drop something? The ear I think? If anything he's morally neutral since his days are behind him but he does have that past
Easy to overlook evil deeds when you weren’t a victim or witness. Time heals all wounds but the soul. He chose his and it registers as “evil karma”
JIPs companion mod is better IMO
Imagine if Bethesda gave these character stories. Loyalty missions even!
If you need bad karma and caps to get him safe to say he's a bad guy.
"no greek you cant have a host" that cracked me up so hard
Sorry, Jericho, I need Butch’s expertise
See now, I use Jericho, but I wouldn’t say I’m “evil.” I just steal a lot.
YES YES JERICHO YES- I CANT WAIT TO WATCH THIS
The only time I ever had him as a companion, he killed the guy in Minefield, who I was supposed to enslave.
His voice is like a narrator of a mystery and it’s awesome!
“What could it mean? The return of the DragonBorn? Such a thing hasn’t happened in, well forever”
What doing an adult man with a teddy bear? Use it for pillows. Man has to work what he has. This is post apocalyptic after all.
Jericho is one of the most interesting and mysterious characters. Always liked him, and I love all his dialogue.
"Goddamn collar on this armor's too tight"
*promplty spartan kicks two metal barrels out of his way*
First time I made Jericho wait somewhere and then came back (pretty sure it was before fighting the Behemoth at GNR), his response made me laugh so much I been traveling with ever since in my Fallout 3 playthroughs.
"Damn this place stinks"
I love Jericho. Always had something to say about the place.
He's nice. He made me realize I was being too good to survive in the wastes.
