Dom and Laurie having the most fun repeatedly putting M + M knowing absolutely no-one will get it is hysterical
I read your comment before I got to that point in the video, still didn't get it, and then still cracked up so hard when they explained it 😂 "They look like M&Ms" ffs 😂😂😂
I said Eminem soooo early. The first time they did the squiggly line + squiggly line, but not because it looked like M + M, but because I thought of it as the concept of him breaking through into rap as a white guy. It was when Dan was saying broken lines, crossing lines, etc.
Ngl, it's like the moment they realized Ken had a pulse, the game instantly descended into insanity. And I absolutely loved it. Chaos all the way through.
Getting a pulse out of a pro poker player is actually very hard depending on the person.
That wavy cross wavy music man round was hilarious! Dom was having a blast with that. Don't know if I've ever seen him giggle quite like that before.
Laurie's introduction: "So you might want to say that it is a film that is a romantic comedy, but also that it involves an animal that is yellow. In this case, clearly that's..."
My brain: "The Bee Movie."
"Marley and Me."
Oh.
Oh thank GOD I wasn't the only one
I got it. But that's probably because I'm smart
"Ya like jazz?" 😂
Before right now I've never even heared of Marley and Me. 'Of course' seems like a vast overstatement to me.
Marley and me is a romantic comedy?
The "lucky in cards, unlucky in love" one was so interesting, since in German "Pech im Spiel, Glück in der Liebe" (Bad luck in games, good luck in love) is a pretty well-known phrase, but it's exactly the other way around. Based on Terri's reaction, I think it might be the same in French? But I've never heard the English version either
And Danish too.
I also heard the German one the other way around: "Glück im Spiel, Pech in der Liebe". It basically depends on if you talk to the winner or the loser...
Nice of Dom to finally show up to the game 33 minutes into the game. 😂
Not unlike the Pitchcar episode! 😂
Holly absolutely said the mask before dan >_>
Edit: ken also clearly spoke before blair! This judgement is all off.
They said Ken started first, but Blair finished first, so that's why Teri gave the point to her.
The 'Lucky at cards, unlucky at love' round was excruciating. As soon as the clues Games + Happy, Heart + Sad came up I had it, and then watching them flounder around and apparently have never heard the saying before? Maddening
we even have a quite similar saying in German "lucky at games unlucky at love" I did not know that it ist that similar in English.
I have never been so frustrated as the "Lucky in cards, unlucky in love" round. It is after midnight and I am yelling at my computer screen.
Same. Also with Eminem.
In Belgium the Dutch equivalent of "lucky at cards, unlucky in love" is used VERY frequently
It translates to "Geluk in 't spel, is ongeluk in de liefde"
1:10:03 But what was Holly going to say?!? Holly, I see you making that face after they moved to the end without coming back to you from Laurie's interruption. I just wanted to let you know that you were seen (even if not heard)!
I felt like Holly was getting interrupted so much this episode. Definitely upsetting to see
I do love a good session of boardgameing whilst i munch on crumpets, so thank you for this treat.
I feel like games like this are extra hard for Dom, because he thinks differently to the others. He has to take some time to adjust to their wavelengths. ❤
"Lucky at cards, unlucky in love" how is it possible that they haven't heard that? It's a well known english phrase for me and I'm not even english.
That last one is pretty common phrase... just saying'. :)
Yay Terri!
I love you guys! Thanks again!
Love the vids! You guys should play Clue Conspiracy
I shouted Desperate Housewives at basically the same time and I feel so accomplished right now.
watching Laurie and Dom's round at 51:40 back after knowing the solution and seeing people guess Flight of the Bumblebees and Ronald McDonald is the funniest thing ever
Don't know what they were talking about with that word "gravity" there, sounded a bit like mavity maybe?
I have missed Ken so much!
37:30 all i could think was 9/11. Inside Job, Down, Steel.
I got 10 points the first game. I got 6 points the second game. I counted 2 points when I guessed before them.
I'd love to see you guys try Challengers ! A really fun game 😁
1:04:23 "Nobody says that" - yes they do.
When will we get to see more of Tom????
Love that guy
Tom is a keen GM so I expect we'll be seeing a lot more of him in the Chaotic Neutral era.
22nd December over on Chaotic Neutral 😊
Blair seems to have fallen back into the buttons persona, considering the amount of Benjamin Button guesses
Another great episode, another evening saved :)
I was screaming at the screen at the cards/love one, even if I heard the saying other way around in my language (mostly used as a feel-better when someone has terrible luck at the table).
33:20 he should have said 12.
Eminem was very good - I thought it was Meatloaf for some strange reason
I was so fixed on Kurt Cobain, music man, Sappy, the broken smile of the Nirvana icon... But the cars threw me off
I was caught on David Bowie for a bit, with the lightning bolt across his face.
This is the first time i found it after it was posted 47 mins before
Funny i just got concept a week ago.
50:45 How'd they get both instances of this wrong? Granted, they almost fully said this one at the same time, but Holly finished saying The Masl before Dan even started :,)
Any chance you can play "diplomacy" or "axis and allies?"
(The quotes are so you know where the title starts and ends)
Holly’s face after that quick hard concept guess was so “What is this feeling, so sudden and new?”😂
Who knew Stalin was a fan of board games
Where did Holly get her blouse?! I love it 😍
Is desperate housewives anything like all the real housewives of [insert place here] shows over in the US? Because if so, why the hell are they all saying it's so great, those shows are the epitome of trashy, fake reality tv.
It's not a reality series, it's normal fiction. But from what little I've watched of either, it's not far off from 'If the Real Housewives was made into a show'
Desperate housewives is an american drama tv show and has nothing to do with the reality tv show haha
@@Shannongaardbo I didn't mean it literally.
It would be so much easier if Teri just wore a microphone. Reading subtitles while everyone else is talking and trying to work out the answer for myself is just a bit too much tbh...
Rough watch for me. The constant shouting over each other before any real "clues" were given makes this not entertaining but more annoying.
I'll be calling Fight Club "Nighttime Recreational Conflict" from now on
I'd love to see a House Rules version of concept, maybe you just come up with NRB specific clues...
It comes as both no surprise and a complete delight that Dom does a stupendous Gollum...
What a delightful game.
Laurie's energy is simultaneously grumpy grampa and goofy toddler in this. 😅
I really hope that Dan's casual use of the word "m'colleague" indicates an in-depth knowledge of "A Bit of Fry and Laurie"
Oh A Bit of Fry and Laurie is AMAZING!!
Tee hee
Dom and Laurence are the definition of team Grown Ups
Lucky at Cards, Unlucky in love is often used by gamblers or poker players. Lucky At Cards, Unlucky At Love refers to a person who is very successful when it comes to doing business, and yet find it difficult to pursue romantic relationships. It sometimes is used the other way around by someone loosing. There is also a German phrase that is very similar.
is very common expression here in Brazil too, but we use it mostly to cofonrt whoever loses the the game "unlucky ar cards, lucky in love" it meas "you've maybe lost the game, but love may come your way" or someting. we actually use the word "game" instead of "cards"
There is also a Russian expression. I'm surprised it's so widely used.
@@gisela_oliveira Same here in Denmark, though not that common here. I mostly know it as "Unlucky in games, lucky in love".
The First Rule of Board Game Club: please don’t get yourself demonetized with the opening bit! Haha!!
Laurie, Lord of the References
That's the double-edged sword of quoting Bo Burnham haha
Holly and Blair, you guys inspire me so so much! As a teenage girl who has a massive interest in the arts you guys remind me on the hard days never to give up because someday I’ll be on stage doing what I love. You guys also have such fun personalities, you make me feel really safe and make me laugh at the same time :) Holly I absolutely adore SIX, it’s my favourite musical and whenever I feel down those are the songs I turn to. Also totally with you about the low dexterity days! I am autistic and often feel outcast but you two make me feel so so included. Keep being awesome ❤️
47:16 Holly definitely said it half a second before Dan
50:44 And here Ken said it almost a microsecond before Blair
We have the benefit of rewinding and replaying....
I said, "Yep, what a concept, I could use a little fuel myself, and we could all use a little chaaaaaange."
(The title alone got that song stuck in my head, so I figured I'd curse everyone else with that.)
Curse you 😂
Me before starting this video: "I think I'm done tracking BGC wins. I don't have anywhere to share it anyway, now that Twitter is dead, and I have more fun watching without focusing on things to track."
Laurie in the intro: "People like to track the stats, so this is our gift to you."
Oh, no 😅
To be fair, the subreddit has a pretty active community....
WOOOOO!!! ITS THE BEST TIME OF THE WEEK!!! ITS BOARD GAME CLUB!!!!!
DOM DOM DOM DOM DOM DOM
Haha the translation changes it to “judgement”- pretty fitting I’d say!
1:04:16 In Greek we have the exact reverse expression. Lose in games, win at love
In German as well. 😁
I love this game, and you can totally play it without scoring, it so much fun just to guess
Yes! Doms at the table 😃 Plonk ya ass down, crack open a tinny, yank open that family bag of crisps and settle in folks, this is guaranteed laffs 🍺😂
The little matchstick girl scared me as a kid
Well not scared, but horrified
Editing suggestion for next time: put the description of what each symbol means on screen with the symbol or a link in the video description to what each symbol means. Will make following along a lot easier. Great video regardless!
Blair's
Cool

Happy Holidays NRB crew! Another really fun game to watch! Watching Ken get so animated and into the game was a joy, given he's often playing deception games with you guys and is simply just so hard to read. I also jumped for joy with the Eminem one, I said that one so early into that word and was excited when it was revealed.
Coming to you in 2024, in collaboration with Hermes, Daniel J. Layton and No Rolls Barred present... the Flight Pashmina... The softest way to travel. (Yes, I am available for hire)
Aww Laurie should have mouthed along with Terri when she said they creators names so it looked like it was dubbed in after the fact. 😂
Love seeing Ken get excited in this game!
This is one of my favourite games ever, it doesn't matter who you play with, it's always a blast while still being engaging.
A whole hour! Thanks for making my week :)
I love Concept! My favourite way to play is with no teams, and no points. Just me and my partner taking turns to explain/guess! It’s really really fun game! :D
The Sandman clue threw me for a loop. I was so certain it is Paul Atreides - a fictional man, from a desert planet who becomes a figurehead of religion in space. It all fits so well.
I was certain it was Prince of Persia like the video games! A fictional character that uses sand to control time 😅
I'm not saying this because I adore Dom and he can do no wrong, but I do believe 8 mile was obvious. Once I saw that it's gotta be something with a car and the number 8, that's what I thought. Good movie.
Do you normally write in pig language by any chance?
This was my son's favorite game in middle school.
What a great crew for this game. Always love to see Ken, and Dan is a delight too.
Really, none of them have heard the “cards/love” expression?
I've been looking forward to this one all week! One of my favorite games played by one of my favorite channels and favorite groups of people! I'm gonna watch the edited version for the goofs, then watch the uncut version because even more goofs!
33:25 Surely it's not possible for Ken to have an odd numbered score and Blair to have an even numbered one? The only time you gain an odd number of points is when you're on the clue giving side, and the two of them always get those as a team, so they have to have same parity score.
It shouldn't have been possible for Ken to have an odd score regardless. Each team had 4 successful words/phrases guessed (4 points), and 2 points are gained from guessing the word. My guess is he simply miscounted, either one too few or one too many.
@@thesunwillneversetmy thoughts exactly. But the game did open up with them talking about how the scoring system is the worst part of the game.
@@rambler209 True, true. It's like Who's Line Is It Anyway?, the points don't matter :)
@@thesunwillneverset probably more likely is he forgot to get his single point for having their word guessed, He received 5 points in the second part of that round so would've had 12 if his first count was correct
A tiny bit offended of behalf of all non-women witches.
We have the same expression in sweden, almost: Tur i spel, otur i kärlek = Lucky at games, unlucky in love.
0:57 I love a good Bo Burnham reference
this game kind of reminds me of the compass in The Golden Compass.
Who else knew it was men in black way before they did
PRAISE THE GRID!!! #notacult
"Good Cards. Sad Hearts." I mean, that is it.
Spoilers:
When I realized what they were doing with 8 Mile I screamed.
'Lucky at cards, unlucky at love' - we use this phrase in Hungary. If you play a lot of card games for money.
Did Dom say Communist? Hi Dom!
romantic comedy that features a yellow animal so the Bee movie
IT'S TIME TO GET ON BOARD!!! 😍
I just realized how much I love ken in this show, he’s a gem
THAT NEW INTRO GOES HARD
We play this game as a co-op game, so we use points to decide how shit we were. We get two rounds for everyone to give clues, easy are 1 point, medium 2 points, hard 3 points. We just try to collectively get a certain amount of points and it's great!
I love Dom
18:54 I was *screaming* sandman at my phone
cleopatra comin at ya horrible histories
This is one of my absolute favourite Christmas games. Once everyone’s had a couple drinks this can get out of hand!
Why did I think of the Bee Movie for Laurie's Marley & Me clues 💀
Is this a Danish game by any chance? The lucky in cards, unlucky in love, is a very common saying in Denmark, and The Little Matchstick Girl is a Danish tale. I'm so confused as to why those two were so hard to guess.
Isn't "white as snow" from Snow White?
Or have I imagined "skin as white as snow, hair as black as coal(?), lips as red as blood"?
Ken can't have 11 points at 33:20.
They've done 4 rounds each, and it's 2 points for a correct guess. His total should be even unless he failed at explaining a concept. But if that's the case then Blair would also have an odd number of points.
The "Unlucky in games, lucky in love" (as it's known as here) phrase is reasonably known here in Denmark, and Terri knew it, so maybe it's more of a European phrase?
I may need to get this game for all the lulz it seems to bring.
