I lived in Huntington Beach a few years back, and I was about 4 miles from the ocean. Sometimes the salty air would reach that far, often times at night I could smell bonfire smoke and the smell of seaweed. I really do miss that cool ocean breeze, but I don’t miss the high cost of living there!

It would be interesting to have one coil coated and one uncoated on the same rooftop. I'm sure this stuff does some protection but it's hard to believe that aerosol can can coat the fins all the way. Great video as always, cheers for Canada!
That was a very thorough job you did. Start to finish. Looks very professional with a very nice install. Great job. I’m just curious the long run on how the product holds up. Since I was posting UA-cam videos a while ago, I have moved from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania down to Florida so it’s a total different environment with humidity, bugs along with salty air so I am re-learning some of the industry down here at this time. Also most units are in commercial setups where either the cheapest option is chosen or supplied by the chain. And they wouldnt even be thinking of its protection coating or placement
We use to put a heresite coating on unit coils that we installed around the gulf coast. We also use it on commercial equipment we installed in certain factories, paper mills and in areas that were prone to corrosion due to manufacturing chemicals. I saw this coating today at the parts house. Not sure how efficient it would be on an older unit.
For anyone that has used this. How much longer does this protect the unit? I live in Hawaii and everywhere is a problem with salt air and also the humidity. Thanks for the videos! Truly awesome

There is a product called hairasite I am not sure that I have spelled this product right, but you have to remove coils to apply it,s very good for high corrosive areas. There is a manufacturer that will apply the product when you order it. You may now about this product already.
How long does that spray last for you in your location? Salts so hard on equipment, and I’m in a area where 75 inches of rain is average. A lot of work of ours is within 1-2 miles from the ocean. Do you think spraying that on every 1-2 years is too much? Equipment can start showing rust in less then a year. Thanks for the info !
Hey great product to use. Have you tried a wider thinner nozzle on the blower to make it quicker to get the water off? Just a suggestion for you. Thank you for the video and a great tech for sure.
Where do you get the viper venom packs my supply house don’t seem to carry them the only think they carry is the condenser cleaner in the can and a big red jug of condenser cleaner but not the packs I want to try them
You should wear goggles and some mask, when applying.Wash hands and face after done. It says so in the safety sheet. This thing has solvents and it does form polymers / plastics in contact in air, you don't want this shit in the body, as it might take years for it to be removed from the body.
My man, my grandfather who was around when they put lead in the gasoline, asbestos in everything, and mercury in everything else lived to be 97 years old, on top of that he smoked for a good portion of his adult life. I think Chris will be just fine.
@@HVACRVIDEOS Would be very interesting, but be careful, because the last time I tried to do that in an enclosed area like a walkin box, the manufacturer of the chemical(Diversitech) said that it is hazardous and flammable and not recommended for indoor use because a room filled with this in the air and a small spark can create an explosion. I chickened out and told them to replace the evaporator. Evaporator was already deteriorated and spitting a powdered material every where.
I have a walk in cooler empty and down now to covid, this reminds me I wanted to try this product but could not attempt when there was product inside and running.

Is the nu-calgon the same as what you applied? I was going to use on a condensor by the atlantic ocean and sales rep said it would mess up heat transfer. What's your opinion?

Had lunch with an HVAC friend of mine yesterday, he started complaining about these micro channel coils which are becoming more common and much more maintenance demanding, hang on I thought, I know what he's talking about. We live in Adelaide, South Australia a city exposed to dusty and pollen laden strong desert North winds, conveniently sited along the coast of the Southern ocean. You have to wonder if a machine that can't clear it's own condenser of heavy rainfall without eventually faulting is really a good design. I guess that's progress, in laboratory tests micro channel probably works more efficiently, in the real world with real dust, real rain and salt hmmmmm.
The rain would literaly need to be always coming in sideways, with the motors blowing outwards its not really a concern even with heavy rainfall. Its only when your doing a clean where you disable the fans and thoughly soak the unit is it unable to clear the micro
@@cranium33333 In their defense every car since the mid 90's uses microchannel for their AC condensers. They're usually in the front of the radiator and get all the bugs and road grime. Arguably a way harsher environment than the roof of a strip mall.

What coil cleaner would you recommend for a home owner just looking to keep his condenssors tip top?
