OMG! I teared-up a few times in this speech. I wish we were not so asleep while he was President. We could of done so much more during that eight years. Hindsight is 20/20. I bet he also feels that way.
People complain about how little Obama got done, but they don't take any responsibility for it. He had a lot of great ideas when he first took office, but had to focus on the economy for many months. Then apathetic NON-voters let the GOP take the House in 2010, which killed any chance of his agenda getting thru. Obama needed the country to remain engaged after his election, but they went back to their lives and left him to do the hard part, without any real grassroots engagement. He needed voters to be pressuring their reps to build momentum, but that support simply wasn't there. Now things are different. Unfortunately, it took Trump, the alt right and the GOP's corporate crony agenda to start waking people up.
When he was president he said make me do it let it be known what you want done. I understood from what he said was that speaking out republicans or democrats could not doubt what the people wanted if we spoke up more. I'm old and sick but I prayed people would make their voice heard call senators etc. So when Obama wanted to pass something they would jump right in to get it done. But as I have watched republicans more they don't care what ordinary people want. They want to win and have power. Things the won't vote with Biden but still got past the republic cans ran home and bragged like they help pass it when they did. They want credit for everything and do nothing but obstruct even if they want it. They don't have an agenda for the people they work for and don't want the democrats getting credit for helping the people with their great ideas because people would all vote democrat next time.

Makes me almost ashamed I didn't vote for him. I had tremendous respect for Senator McCain and Governor Romney, so I don't regret supporting them. I had some real disagreements with President Obama, although I always made clear that it wasn't personal and never wished him ill. But I can tell you that I would take him over Donald Trump any day (I went 3rd party in 2016)! Also, I can see now how some of his policies were actually good and that the delayed recovery began to speed up considerably in the final two years of his tenure. If the Republican Party keeps going the way it is, I may switch parties completely. As it is, I will be among those voting out this batch of Republicans who are propping up an erratic, mean-spirited and self-promoting president.

OMG! I teared-up a few times in this speech. I wish we were not so asleep while he was President. We could of done so much more during that eight years. Hindsight is 20/20.

People complain about how little Obama got done, but they don't take any responsibility for it. He had a lot of great ideas when he first took office, but had to focus on the economy for many months. Then apathetic NON-voters let the GOP take the House in 2010, which killed any chance of his agenda getting thru. Obama needed the country to remain engaged after his election, but they went back to their lives and left him to do the hard part, without any real grassroots engagement. He needed voters to be pressuring their reps to build momentum, but that support simply wasn't there. Now things are different. Unfortunately, it took Trump, the alt right and the GOP's corporate crony agenda to start waking people up.
Who should feel that way is the U.S Senate who obstructed him at every turn oh and they are still in office.. Now we got Trump..

When he was president he said make me do it let it be known what you want done. I understood from what he said was that speaking out republicans or democrats could not doubt what the people wanted if we spoke up more. I'm old and sick but I prayed people would make their voice heard call senators etc. So when Obama wanted to pass something they would jump right in to get it done. But as I have watched republicans more they don't care what ordinary people want. They want to win and have power. Things the won't vote with Biden but still got past the republic cans ran home and bragged like they help pass it when they did. They want credit for everything and do nothing but obstruct even if they want it. They don't have an agenda for the people they work for and don't want the democrats getting credit for helping the people with their great ideas because people would all vote democrat next time.

Makes me almost ashamed I didn't vote for him. I had tremendous respect for Senator McCain and Governor Romney, so I don't regret supporting them. I had some real disagreements with President Obama, although I always made clear that it wasn't personal and never wished him ill. But I can tell you that I would take him over Donald Trump any day (I went 3rd party in 2016)! Also, I can see now how some of his policies were actually good and that the delayed recovery began to speed up considerably in the final two years of his tenure. If the Republican Party keeps going the way it is, I may switch parties completely. As it is, I will be among those voting out this batch of Republicans who are propping up an erratic, mean-spirited and self-promoting president.
