    You are very motivating for me. I am in the insulating stage of the walls of my van and I have a lot of anxiety/eagerness to do the paneling up to the windows like you are doing. Then, come to the ceiling… I have had a raise roof put on so I have some curves as well I have to learn about. But you’re giving me more confidence… And you’re something else with that router… Carry-on

    • @WildSheGoes
      @WildSheGoes  Рік тому +1

      @@WildSheGoes I love your rig! What a great size and four-wheel-drive! I have rear wheel drive and one of the biggest Chevrolet engines available for my 3500 extended passenger van. It’s 19 feet long… I was pulling an 18 foot camper for a year, that is in storage now and I hope to sell that at some point. There is certainly more to the story, More on that later. I was going to keep the plastic side covers in place but once I took them off to stop placing my Havelock wool, that’s what I’m insulating with, I decided I could use a few extra inches that removing the side panels had given me. So now I’m down to the ribs stuffing wool in all the little crevices, Getting ready to frame out the sides and start thinking about doing the ceiling. You are certainly a hard worker, determined, and you have an awesome rig. Stay well, rick

    You did a fantastic job with the panelling Marina. That really is the worst job, I agree. And if that is the first time you used a router, you are a natural and there are some jobs for you to do next time you are in Cumbria ! Ha ! Do you know there are mini routers that you might find easier on small detailed work? I do the same and varnish both sides and all the edges. I did that on a trailer and it lasted 20 years in the UK climate, so it works for sure. It's interesting that there is no wiring hiden behind the cladding, so I'm looking forward to see how you handle that. Happy new year, Pete in Cumbria.

    • @WildSheGoes
      @WildSheGoes  Рік тому +1

      Hi Pete! I haven't added an electrical system. Since most of the time the van will be on cargo mode I didn't think it was necessary. I will be using either my Bluetti or Jackery system to power and recharge everything. One thing less to worry about! I saw those mini routers I might be getting one for myself. Although I'm still quite scared of routers. Happy end of the year to you Pete!

      @@WildSheGoes And that's the best thing about knowing what you want and planning ahead. You can arrange things exactly how you want to suit your use of the vehicle. It's perfect ! You are so right to avoid making unnecessary holes in the van. Every one is another risk of leaks and corrosion. I'm in a bit of a quandry with my van as I have solar panels to fit on the roof but I don't want to just trust adhesive - yet don't want to risk leaks by using Rivet Nuts ( which do work great inside similar to how you have used them ). Life is all about risks and benefits - and with that bit of philosophy I will go and sit in my can to work out what I am going to do ! Pete

    How are you planning to deal with the roll-down windows in the side doors? I'm working on converting a similar van and really want to keep the roll-down feature, but keeping that and insulating it seems like it would be difficult... Insulation would need to stay out of the way and be waterproof (or waterproofed).
    Lovely watching these videos as these are some of the most detailed I've found on such a tiny van like mine :)

    • @WildSheGoes
      @WildSheGoes  Рік тому

      HI Jacob! Well indeed those are a pain. For now I sanded down the panels where the holes are and was able to refit the window handle. But it keeps falling off, so honestly I still need to find a good solution! The panels are fairly tight so I'm not overly worried of water getting in, although I'm sure it will at some point.

    • @jacobfield2214
      @jacobfield2214 Рік тому

      @@WildSheGoes Thanks for the reply! I was thinking about mine and I might try foam board as the panel, since in my van I plan to wrap the interior panels with upholstery instead of wood paneling. The foam board would intrude about an inch into the cabin, but since (in my van at least) the areas surrounding the sliding doors are already further into the cabin than the door panel, I think it will be fine. All I would have left to figure out is those door and window handles. Maybe some kind of extension could be made?
