    𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐬: If you only send text messages to customers on Canadian plans, you should not be impacted if you do not register. However, it is possible to reside in Canada and still be using a US-based MNO. You would be impacted if you sent text messages to customers who use AT&T or T-Mobile (i.e. people who reside in Canada currently and are customers of one of those MNOs). If that is not a scenario that you're concerned about, then you don't need to register. Just keep in mind that if you do run into that scenario, your messages will likely not get delivered.

    Do I need to register our internal toll-free number issued through ServiceTitan for messaging with our Techs or just our main line we used for customer notifications?

    What is ServiceTitan using on the backend to send text messages?

    Does this affect Canadian customers? All our SMS texts are local. Don't know why an American carrier or regulatory body would be involved at all. I checked with the Canadian communications regulator and do not see any reference to A2P 10DLC.

      Hey Craig! Canadian clients would need to register in order to be able to send SMS messages to any U.S. based mobile network operators, including AT&T and T Mobile

      @@kylelumsden5348 Sorry if that wasn't clear. If you only send text messages to customers on Canadian plans, you should not be impacted if you do not register. @@kylelumsden5348 - Great question. Even before I posed mine, I wondered about the routing. I think we got a satisfactory answer. Thank you for asking ST to make it clearer.

      Yes! Same Thing. We changed the name since the time that this video was filmed. Sorry for the confusion!

    It sounds like this is a USA issue, does this apply to Canadian customers of ServiceTitan??? We only text to Canadian cell phone carriers.

    So... what about toll-free numbers? Much like short code, toll-free numbers are not subject to this A2p 10DLC... so why does ServiceTitan not allow use of toll-free numbers for mms?

    • @Servicetitan
      @Servicetitan  3 роки тому +1

      Toll free numbers don't have to be registered with TCR, but they do still incur the per-text fee imposed by carriers. That means you're only avoiding the $10/mo registration fee by using toll free numbers. The reason ServiceTitan doesn't currently allow MMS over toll free numbers is that MMS over toll-free is much more expensive than SMS over Toll-free. Plus they still incur that per-message charge. So that route ends up being more expensive overall

    I believe this is wrong in the first few sentences, the FCC is not involved in the exception of reclassifying text messages as an information service instead of telecommunications services. This made me stop watching the video. Perhaps you can elaborate.

    • @BlueCollarNerd
      @BlueCollarNerd 3 роки тому

      Well I did elaborate, but you stoped watching the video 😉 The FCC isn't directly involved, but theyre a catalyst for the change as they're one entity that is involded in the threat of government imposed regulation if the industry doesnt self regulate.
