  • In this quick snack appetizer whatever you wanna call it, Taryl goes over a quick little trick on fastening that John Deere brake switch from moving and popping out of place which is common on multiple models of these cheaper John Deere tractors. L110 and the L120 are the models used in this video. Another handy dandy tip from the master himself. And as always, There's Your Dinner!!

OFF TOPIC. Great fix Taryl. For those who have troubles with the Carb Fuel Shutoff Solenoid, I found the trouble on my X320 to be the 10 Pin connector just Beside the Ignition switch. I have taken it apart and sprayed with Terminal Cleaner. Slowly turning the Switch to ON, you should be able to hear and feel the solenoid working. It works for awhile and likely has a bad connection inside. Likely very slightly twisting the pins will fix it. If it cranks but won't start, this could be your problem.

Great tip on the brake interlock switch. I would very much like to see you do a complete walk-through on these MTD mowers and how the interlock switches all work together. I am struggling with one on a Husqvarna (MTD) and as best as I understand it, the interlock switches control the ground circuit to the starter solenoid and ignition. Keep them good videos coming! We sure do appreciate them and you!

On my Craftsman rider, the metal tab on the brake arm that acutates the switch broke off. I just used a zip tie to keep the switch closed so I can start it. I'm the only one that uses it, so it's not a problem. No one else wants to mow the grass. Still needs 60 lbs of leaded butt in the seat to start.

Typically what I do is bypass the faulty safety switch if the customer is ok with it. Therefore you don’t have to worry about those problematic safety systems go out. It is a common failure on pretty much every modern lawn tractor. The more electrical mess there is on a mower or any equipment for that matter, the more likely somethings going to break and leave your machine dead in the water.
