One of my family friends has this blanket made out of tiny animal furs. I think it might be sables? Little tiny animals. Maybe 200+ to make up this comforter. It just sits on a rack for decoration...
Everytime I see it the thing pisses me off. She's not even using it as a blanket... And even if she was that would still be fucked up with all those little animals lives raised to just be slaughtered for what? "Luxury"? Come on... It's not worth it.

Curious if she does any charitable giving, mutual aid type things, but I guess she wouldn't necessarily want to put all of that business out to the world as well, since those can be more specific/close to the heart type spending items. People with excessive wealth really don’t earn it.
This is not doctors money, this is huge sums invested and getting money back for no work.
The fact that she can hoard this money to buy material items is so outrageous.
There is NO way she works with people who are low income because to be able to hoard money “investing” it and not put it towards free mental health or low income social services that she could own is really sad. Its really sad.
The only businesses she has is to make more money. Its all about money and thats sad.
I pray for the time when i can make money and put it back into low-income services. I will work my ass off to help the people i see struggle as a healthcare provider, because to see that and have that much money just growing monthly and yearly is the epitome of selfish.
She could change lives, but she wants to keep that work for her paying patients.
To have that amount of wealth, and go to work for a paycheck when “saving lives” and “changing peoples lives” with the work she does but not dispensing that excess wealth to help populations so that they can avoid traumatic health issues, its not about the people for her. Its not about helping these people for them, its about her enjoying being a saviour.

Compensation of doctors/other high level professionals in the US seems so strange to me as a medical student in Sweden (doctors are on average the highest paid category of professionals in Sweden outside of strict managerial roles).
75k dollars a month is about 10x the monthly salary of a doctor in Sweden (and our GDP/capita is in a similar range to the US) from the statistics I've seen presented by doctors on youtube most pediatricians in the US seem to make more than swedish brain surgeons as well. 75k in sweden really is more of a CEO of a company with several thousand employees type of salary in sweden.
However I will mention that there is only a very small degree of variety in compensations between different specialties.
The only way of really increasing salary is by working in private consultant capacity which is rare (less than 5% of doctors here do).
Of course we don't have a very big medical insurance sector and that will have an effect on these things and on top of that we do not to pay tuition fees as all education is free.
We do have a form of student loans, but this is really only meant to help with living expenses so one shouldn't be distracted from ones studies by trying make money for rent/food/utilities.
This systems is managed by a department of government dealing only with these loans. The department gives the option of receiving only monthly stipends of 300 dollars/month while attending university this is is not a loan and is given to all university students that meet the criteria and apply (criteria is only that you can't have a income; salary of more than 1500 dollars a month, rent for a student assigned studio apartment usually costs between 300-700 dollars a month ). On top of the 300 dollar stipend you can take out a 0,4% interest loan of approx.850 dollars a month for up to 6 years.
In general I think the swedish system is probably a lot kinder to it's students, their metal health and really tries to relieve pressure in any way it can to ensure your studies are as uninterrupted by financial issues or other surrounding factors as possible. Also by not having big differences in compensation it probably makes students more likely to choose solely based on interest of the specialty.
However there really is barely any way to make even half of what the worst paid specialties do in the US.
It's very interesting to see how countries with very similar GDP/capita have such big differences..

Why pay a lump sum of 80k to avoid paying an extra 960 dollars a year when you can make 6k a year with a 80k investment at a 7% rate (average investment rate)? It's not like the bank is going to raid your house if you don't pay it off as soon as humanly possible, it is much smarter to use that money to invest either in yourself (her business) or in other assets and I think her loans must be federal or she refinanced her loans once she got out of medical school. Also, keeping up student loan payments helps your credit score and paying it off instantly would actually hurt your credit score temporarily because of no good reason lol

A classic case of the Golden Handcuffs. Lifestyle creep happens to celebrities making many times what this doc does. This is why it's necessary to have a financial advisor and an accountant to tell it like it is. $1.3m gross income sounds like a lot, but people can easily spend beyond their means at any income level. Let's imagine something happens that renders her unable to practice medicine, a disability let's say. Now she may be in serious financial trouble...

Purchasing 30-40 shows per year and a 70k comforter like her is wayyyy too excessive and will only increase in expenses along the years. Once you drive a Porsche you can’t ever go back to a Honda. Like Dr. Webb said, I think it's more so her home owners taxes, property taxes, probably a monthly HOA fee, etc., things like that, because living in Jersey for as much as she pays is pretty much impossible. Plus, she said she has three closets? So we know she has a huge house, so if shes living in Jersey and paying only 2,600 a month, its definitely not just a regular house payment!

For the same reason why she hasn't paid off her student loans. Consider the interest on debt a tax. At 5% interest, she would pay $500 a year for $10,000 of debt. If she had payoff amount in her bank account ($10,500) and instead invested the money with 10% returns, she would have earned $1,500 of investment income and an ending balance of $12,000.

Sad how working in healthcare is so much better in US than EU tbh tho. Here in norway, u go throu 6 yr medical school than 5 year residency, and only 50% of ppl get matched into residence program because of shortage of these programs. An average specialist after 11 year of medical training roughly make 115K USD, which is absurd taking into account the long training and that the avg salary in Norway is about 80K USD. Oh and also there is literally no compensation differences between the specialities, a surgeon makes as much as a family doctor etc. And not to mention the 40%+ taxes. Be happy that you work in US is all im sayin lol, no one enjoys working in health care sector in EU. And yeah there is exception where u start ur own practise etc, but even here its impossible to make any big money as government controlls the entire healthcare system and with private buisnesses they regulate with high taxes.

And yet people don't realize this and want the US to become a socialized medicine country and think it will be great. It's sad that people here don't know the reality of what they are advocating for.

@@Aaron-cc7yq socialized medicine is the worst idea ever to be introduced. so many are just living of free and good taxpayers money at home because they are "too sick to work" when its in fact only that they dont WANT to work. yeah be glad US is not like norway/denmark bro, no one likes our system. even when the healthcare profession goes on a strike, the government immediately shuts it down so there is no way for us to even express our opinions

At least we in EU don’t go bankrupt from treating our medical conditions and have decent healthcare benefits. I’m happy with the way the system works.

@@Aaron-cc7yq It still costs a lot + here health insurance is mandatory for everyone and even if you can’t afford it you get it from the government. I’d rather pay higher taxes knowing I’m supporting other people in my country. It’s about community and solidarity. That way no one has to suffer.

my hand surgeon would come and eat at the bar that I used to tend to almost once a week! He never saw me naked, but he has seen me cry and blubber like like a baby. Dude saved my hand! It just makes me laugh that he has done surgery on me and then later on I would sell him soup and the occasional margarita. being a doctor must be weird when you're out of the office and see your patients.

Just noticed you were a Staff Sergeant in the AF. At one point did you ever consider commissioning and being an AF doctor?
