- Malaysia's Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli says the country has reached a critical inflection point in its energy needs, beyond which it risks becoming a net importer of oil and gas. He also defended the government's move to cut domestic fuel subsidies as a key part of fiscal consolidation and energy transition. Mr Rafizi shares more with CNA's Olivia Siong on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Dalian, China.

Malaysia produces 75 bcm, exporting half to Japan, Korea and Red China.
Qatar exports 200 BCM, USA exports 180 BCM, Russia 150 BCM, Australia 100 BCM, Iran 65 BCM .
Malaysia exported 35 BCM.
Red China and EU are the world largest natural gas importers.

solar energy transformation is another industry for Malaysia to explore from now to future, other than Malaysia goes to AI industries at Cyberjaya, Micro-chips industries at Bayan Lepas, EVs car industries at Tg Malim, AI Data Centres at Iskandar Johor, Tourism industries at Melaka city.
Up-to-date, we seem unable , at least for the start to light up all the streets with solar energy. We have been spending too much time talking instead of harvesting the low lying fruits. With the ECRL, why can't KTMB be asked to be more imaginative in handling freight as China had published that their railway average us$0.36 per TEU-KM, this figure is definitely a couple of folds cheaper than road transport; of course in reality it has to be based on road-rail Combined Transport.

Maybe you forgotten Najib floated diesel and petrol and implement BR1M to liften up burden of B40. Najib administration also encourage public transportation through HSR and also warned that we are close to net oil importer status. What Rafizi is telling us now already been addressed during Najib administation. So tell me, would you accept GST when PH implement them soon?

Sounds all lovey dovey but the impact to people of Malaysia are very grave indeed. This minister is known for all his over the top formula. All loking good in interview and paper but a flop during execution of the plan. All of his supporters are just mindlessly praising him without understanding of the real impact of his plan to everyday people. Our food price has skyrocketed yet he said everything is good. Purchasing power of citizen has dropped, slowing down our economy. When we citizen commenting and presenting facts of the flop of his plan since we are the one experiencing it in real life, he just brushed it off, calling those complaints are political based.
Green energy sound great . Solar energy is the hype but what will happened when real bad solar storm happen in the next future? I doubt the grreen energy is 100 percent is green. Those batteries of EV already add another future looming problems.
To be honest, post National Energy Transition Road Map(NETR) look at the data centres that just announced. Capacity also build for renewable energy supply and TNB stock price have move from RM8.20 to RM14. I don’t see what you mean by formula ?! He is Economic Planning Unit EPU, so of course he has to plan ahead for the country, execution is the respected Ministry such as PETRA, DPM Fad.
