What sets the Riddick series apart is the fleshed out planets and hostile environments. They are not just backdrops, it interacts with the characters and drives the story forward!
True.
Yes! Not just a fantasy land but real danger
thats the same with the games where vin diesel had also his hand over, its so sad they didnt really continued it that way.
the environments in Riddick were always incredible
yeah, one question tho. How do they even breathe on a planet like this?)
How my Grandad described his journey home from school.
hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Was he from NY ? My uncle used to say similar stuff. Blessings
Pretty much 🤣🤣
No
Lol
This movie blew me away when I was a kid. Definitely peak Vin Diesel.
Alexander this is favorite film in the series
Vin deisel with a neck is best vin deisel
Man I hate it that they replaced the original actress that they played his sidekick but apparently she is off into poetry painting and living the hippie lifestyle in Australia looks like those are one time deal and she was satisfied and that was it she went back to doing what she loved best.
I've watched this movie about 80 times growing up, still just as good today lol
For me its hard to pick a favorite
Before he gets to old. We need one more Riddick film. HE has the rights to the franchise I believe.
Nah f**k him.
Hes happy making too much money from the bullsh*t F&F franchise
Plus he killed off the necromancer leader from the 3rd sequel.
He would make a good Netflix sci fi series
Riddick 4 is in the works
@@unDEEniablyME I hope he is not a problem like he is on the new FF film.
@@unDEEniablyME been in the works since 2013

Even though it's not perfect it's such an underrated movie.
Cultured
I honestly only ever hear praise for this movie and almost everyone knows about it. I'd say it's neither underrated nor unknown
Much better than the 3rd movie.
underrated movie or people at the time thought pitch black was better. But i love all movies the same
Underrated by the critics but not by the fans . Movies in the last 45 yrs been viewed since Star wars only by its box office receipts. Movies are seen by the audience or viewer and we like quality and this film is outstanding.
One of Vin Diesel's best performances
Agreed
Indeed.
Keep Moving !
How long?
@@aeksang4870 Get that ass moving !
Imma be honest here, Riddicks' voice in this clip is on Kratos level of badassery
That'd be a stupid thing to lie about... so really no need to ever say "imma be honest" EVER again.
4:26 "KEEP MOVING!" 😎👍
Parents describing how they got to school:
“Because Anatoly says so?”
“Because his nose says so”
Hands down one of my favourite movies. Such a rough and realistic portrayal of humans in space(you know, apart from the Necros).
☹️
i love how you have characters like that and riddick bunched up with some Dune types 😂, it all works really well tho
I always wondered if there was something special about Anatoly and his supposed "nose for trouble".
@@LucianDevine gypsies or Ruska Roma (John Wick's people), they said have a greater sixth sense.
The quotables in this film are insane. Superior dialog in this one to the other two.

lmfao
Why not just turn on the oven light and look at the pizza without opening the door?
@@nukepuke932 because you can only know the pizza is cooked to _PERFECTION_ ... by feeling the *_crust_* !
He was born for this role. And Cronicles of Riddick is still most underrated movie ever.
he was definitely born for this role. Without breaking a sweat.
Not just born for it. He created the character based on one of his old D&D characters.
I love that Riddick franchise is cult classic and not another hyped sci-fi franchise. it makes more appealing for me to come back over and over again and watch all three movies and enjoy it. hopefully they will expand the series. I mean it's one of the best universe I have seen in sci-fi movies so it really needs to expand. new planets, environments, wild life. come on Vin, make one or two Riddick movies before you get too old to play it. we are tired of that crap F&F franchise that turned from amazing series to circus
I Feel the same way, he wasted good time on those F&F movies. We could of had all riddick movies... can you just imagine?
Vin Diesel talked about the script for the fourth installment on hi instagram, I guess it's already in the works.
@@TenderViddlez Pretty sure he bargained with Universal on those. Only came back to F&F so they would greenlight Riddick.
Hopefully more to follow.
Gee. Loyal fans. Talking out of ass. About f&f when you should insert foot in mouth. Moronic
Exactly. Well said
Riddick is Vin's best character in my opinion. Looking forward to the Furia.
Right up after the Iron Giant, in my Book... Childhood.
I think how he delivers his dialog in Guardians of the Galaxy is his best work!
I appreciate that the writers/director had Kira literally be 'speechless' at the end of that scene. For her to utter any kind of "thank you" would have been/seemed so trivial, and even unrealistic, considering what just happened (Riddick's ridiculous save). She's just overwhelmed in awe.

They are not outrunning the sun, they are outrunning the rotation of the planet...
thats true the rotation of the planet decides what way the sun is shining Upon the dark side of it.
but technically its the same thing if you look at it, basically Outrunning the sun is outrunning the rotation of the planet.
@@Akaneblaze1345 yes i know what you mean but the wording "outrunning the sun" indicates (at least for me) that the sun is moving thowards them... now that i think about it, it should be "outrunning the sunlight" xD
Outrunning the sun sounds way cooler than outrunning the planet
@@kugelkegel6978 flat earther made the title confirmed
The scene where Riddick saves Kyra at the last possible moment gets me every time, a really great emotional scene.
The guy he left behind to sunbathe: 💀💀💀💀
Yeah, I’m sad she ended up dead. The dynamic of Riddick having a daughter/kid sister figure was one of the things I loved about the movie.
@@maralonent6257I thought she was like a love interest to him. Well in her part she looked like she had a crush on him

Yeah Fa sho!!
"He's beginning to believe"
He's a fricking god
He’s not necessarily a god in the comics his home world was a desert 4 times hotter than normal even though he can be severely burned he is able to withstand way hotter climates compared to the average human and at that he is a alpha of his race which gives him healing abilities an mystic powers the water just helped him a little love the attention to detail in this movie!!!
@@lockedinlulahk9428 Nice to know, thanks.
Small difference... between:
1) a fricking god; and
2) finger-licking good (fried)
@@lockedinlulahk9428 the comics sound crap.
No he's not
This soundtrack was so unique. I loved it as a kid, still love it now.
And the pacing is a home run too. That's what makes the soundtrack work so well.
5:26 Riddick: Kyra, Kyra
Kyra: WHAT
Riddick: get that ass MOVING
I love how the one guy is expecting to get saved but Riddick passes him up and he gets burned to a crisp lol
I love how a planet with no plants at all some how has an oxygen nitrogen atmosphere capable of sustaining human life some how when it's constantly burning in the sun light🤣
@@raven4k998 it's a movie give it a break
@@raven4k998 Stop being so damn astrophysical, here!
@@raven4k998 hahaha thats a perfect summary of this whole situation, or how water protects him from burning in the sun cuz nobody ever gets burnt at the pool/ beach. Just a little steam.
No...he wasn't supposed to die if he had stayed down
I still remember seeing him for the first time in Pitch Black. He stole the show, and it was obvious star power, and in a role that seemed to have a deep if unspoken backstory. But who could have imagined it would develop into one of the great epic sci-fi trilogies? Which it is!
just on question if the planets constantly burning how come the air's breathable outside on the planet?
@@raven4k998that’s relatively simple basically everything that can burn has already been burnt and with no native life thanks to the constant sterilization of the surface by temps hot enough to melt aluminum O2 just isn’t meaningfully depleted.
The Riddick universe feels so much like Warhammer 40k even the guns remind me of boltguns.
One of my favorite scenes. The drama, the spectacle, the adrenaline of running from the sun - absolutely fantastic
Everyone complaining about O2 plot hole due to lack of vegetation. Remember oxygen is an element. Maybe O2 is released due to chemical breakdown of the planet's surface with reaction to the sun. We don't really know the planet's rocks composition
it is not a real planet. What are you talking about.
Terraforming, remember The Chronicles of Riddick basically match 40k in terms of tech
@@valravhknight1914 actually right, some interstellar civilization definitely has some terraforming capabilities
@@merlinthegray not really... It can if it forms ozone. That'd explain why they didn't get burnt staying in the shadows by UV and stuff.... But tbh though, such planets should be too much pain in the ass to survive on.
@@edwardcastro160 Yes it is, Crematoria is real it is 550 ly from Earth.
The ambient heat should have cooked them already before the direct sunlight hit.

they never saw direct sunlight
Technically, the coolest part of any day is the moment just before sunrise. But maybe its different in this movie's case. Awesome scene 👌

We need a prequel to be honest.

Very generous of Universal to upload this amazing clip. Thanks!
For such an inhospitable planet with no life whatsoever, there seems to be a lot of oxygen for breathing.
😂😂😂😂
Lol right
How the built that prison lol
There has to be or their wouldn't be any fire. No O2 no fire.
Perhaps there is an unknown chemical process in the rocks at night that produces O2
Ngl back when I was a kid I'd run through the woods like this pretending I was as badass as Riddick
Facts!
SAME! Except it wasn't the woods but the hills xD
Same! except it wasnt the hills it was my backyard
"Role models can be important for a boy" - Alex Murphy
I love how all the sound stops before the fire hits the rock just behind them. And then - Boom! Kyra checks herself - every body part is at its place. Intact. Riddick rises, vapor around him, looking exactly how the baddest mf-ker in the Universe should look like. Kyra is speechless. Her brain overwhelmed with emotions - both thankful and embarrassed because after all she's just a little girl standing before her mentor. I cried on this moment.
This would have been an Arnold Schwarzenegger moments in the 80s
That was so awesome & showed why RIddick always wins :)
I was just thinking about this movie yesterday, these algorithms be sus
Algorithms be talkin on discord
You know riddick's a badass when he can turn out a lesbian
They didn't know that though Riddick said one speed she was the whole reason for him coming to Crematoria in the first place so not like he would have left her there.
At 4:25, the way he says “keep moving” was dope 💯
The way she looks at him, gracious band admiration
"Keep moving" his "Get to the choppa" line.
Cute chick covered in grease paint, slightly sweaty, and in an unnecessarily small shirt? Check
Over the top action that you can’t stop watching for no reason? Check
Vin Diesel in a tank top of sorts? Check
Overall 9/10 great early 2000s movie.
The most underrated film ever!! Riddick is my favourite fictional character, I hope they bring a fourth film out.

The germs on this planet would be virtually impossible to kill on earth 🌍
There would be almost no germs... Not enough time to "colonise" & spread.. EXCEPT... for maybe the 29 km *(THATS RIGHT, 29 KMS "18 mile") DEEP,* prison. But that's their "home" stay away from that area. 😂 IRONICALLY, that's the only liveable area.. So... just stay away from the planet 🤣😆
The one thing this movie franchise taught me was to appreciate how human-friendly the Earth is....
Seen it over and over again, never get tired of the Riddick series and alien 1 & 2
When the pro player in game carry the noobs in the dungeon
I like how they covered 29.4 km in 10 minutes on foot
Kyra: “Remember what I said about not caring if I lived or died. You know I was kidding, right?”
Riddick: “Nope. See ya.”
Love this movie. So under-rated.
2:20 beautiful scene, you can just imagine the smell of the volcanic ash and sulfur.
What a movie. What a universe ! Same method as for Star Wars : forget all the physical things you learned, forget science, just take pleasure and enter the rules of Riddick's world. "Pitch Black" was a masterpiece, "Chronicles of Riddick" was like a roller coaster, and "Riddick" is some kind of guilty pleasure. Very underrated saga. Beautiful planets, incredible monsters, and mysterious worlds I hope we will visit one day (Anteverse, Furia...). The DVD bonus featured some really cool things on "Pitch Black" and "Chronicles of Riddick", especially the logbooks of the mercenaries during their investigations to find where Riddick hides himself.
The production design in this film is so good.
This, is what good 2000is movies looks like
Love the film score during this sequence.
That has to be one of the best rescue scenes in cinema.
