SONY ICF-6800W faulty 2SC930-transistors swap and repair

- There is a big problem with the ICF-6800W. Some of the 2SC930 transistors are faulty and most of them are below the specifications after these years. Only about hFE 20-30 is it in this case. The Q32/33/34/35 are critical, these are to replace with similar types 2SC2786, 2SC2999 or others. Also all the 2SC930 in the FM part are to replace. Then we get more sensitivity and full scale S-meter deflection. The transistor swap is a very hard job. And the receiver realignment is not yet done. Ohhh--nohhhhh......

Beautiful - I would love to see a video on the alignment - It is the fear of the alignment that is keeping me from replacing the transistors. How were the capacitors doing after all these years ? What instruments would be the bare minimum to have 73 de OZ5JCK
Hello dr OM, thank you for your interest. The transistor swap was a very hard job and five years ago. The radio is not more in my collection. My Test equipment was a Schlumberger Stabilock. It was a good machine to fix this receiver. Best 73s to you...
