I see my flip beeing a full blown replacement of a camera with a flip out screen. At least for vacations and stuff like that. Even has the "handycam" mode wich was surprisingly comfortable. Flip phones are meant to be fun. Encourages creative use. A big bonus is that this phone basically has its own "tripod" I cant count how many times I've tried to prop my old phone on a table leaning onto something to watch a video or do a videocall etc. I went from a One Plus 7 Pro - to a Z Flip 5, this my very first flip phone, now time will tell about the durability aspect of it. The usability of the outside screen on the razr+ is a game changer. I use it probably 80% of the time and couldn't imagine not having the ability to use all the apps on it. It turns this phone into a tiny phone that has the option to be a big phone if needed.

Very appropriate observation. I hope samsung can improve the functionality of the cover screen very soon. Samsung flip: solid built, but disappointing functionality..
I wonder if the weaker hinge on the moto was a compromise for having an almost non-existent crease. I can't wait until creases on foldables are a thing of the past.
It's funny my razr 2022 has almost no crease and it much better than my razr ultra and flip 5,go figure Motorola went backwards in my opinion when it comes to the crease
As far as durability really that's kind of a silly question because most people trade phones every couple of years and so I'm sure both of them would still be working after a couple of years. Also the crease in the center of the screen on the razor is less pronounced than that of the Samsung. Also the razor has dust protection and the Samsung does not.
In the real-world, the Samsung has consistently far outperformed the Razor in durability tests. You can search UA-cam for examples. The Razor is only IP5 for water and the Flip5 is IP8. If it's waterproof it is basically dustproof.
For anyone who has had the Razr plus, if there is a proper phone case on it does that make the hinge more stable? And having said that, without the cover, does the phone have a tendency to unfold and collapse on itself? Or does it hold steady at 180 degrees?
I've had it for a month now and its in perfect condition. No folding issues, the hinge feels nice and secure, the closing sound is ASMR heaven and there is no creasing at all.
I think the biggest difference is Samsung foldables shatter in the crease and it damages and in some cases kills the oled layer in 5-6 months of use sometimes even 3 months

I've never understood talk about updates. What exactly do users want updated frequently if it's not a software fix update? Most don't even know what the "update" is for because they don't read the details. 😮
I believe that the razr problems have been fixed, i also feel the need to add that motorola does have a special screen that seems to never break, meanwhile my samsung cracked easily. (Ive dropped them both from the same height onto a hard floor
Was a hard choice but it came down to overall comparisons and based on most reviews I see the Motorola has hearing issues and after a month or 2 people say they has freezing issues which scares me so I’ll go with the flip 5 although the razr+ has a better putter display I’ll choose longevity and the better camera quality from Samsung

@@superiortoall22 I agree. Samsung service was awful when many of us had screen protector issues. My flip 5 is running all the same apps i was running on my ultra only different can't continue from main screen to outer and press notifications and you can see then
Honestly I wouldnt expose either to dust and water resistance is far more important. Ive spilled coffee a few times on my Flip3 and being able to immerse the phone in water wash it off is great. Every now and then just to get grease and fingerprints off the Flip5 I wash it in Soapy water and again submerge it to rinse off the soap. No harm done and phone always looks like new
All the faults your mentioning on the RAZR are not important. If you want a good camara picture go out and buy a camara. It's not worth bothering with. In my opinion there is no need to open the phone which is what people are saying. I would always go for the RAZR. I know Samsung will get updates but only have about 6 aps that will open out of the box when the RAZR has near enough all aps out of the box I know which one I would choose and it's not the samsung.
Also the Razr+ 2023 doesn't need Any updates, it runs excellent right out of the box ,after I got it setup I rarely even need to open phone, even has text alerts right on outside screen, I love this phone after trying out both flip 5 and the Razr+, no comparison Razr+ much better usability. Last 5 phones been Samsung S series . Moto came out on top with latest Flip!
If any one moans that you don't get as many updates as the Samsung over a five year period. Who the heck keeps a phone 5 years lol. As long as the RAZR gives you an update that's fine by me.Greetings from the UK
a 2min install of Goodlock on the Flip 5 gives the fron screen the same access to all aps as the Razer. The interior of the screen on the Flip is way better then the razr and the camera is much better as well. LOts of good in both phones but for me, I only upgrade phones when theres a big enough reason to. Flip 3 upgrade was to jump into my first 5G phone and JUmp from Flip 3 to Flip 5 was due to the full funcional bigger front display. Common for me to have a phone for about 2- 3 years so build quality is an issue. Samsung has always been solid
@@rbroberts61 If you look into though there will still be a lot of things that the RAZR can do that the Samsung can't, but obviously that also applies to the Samsung as well. I just like the 140 refresh rate on the RAZR front compared to only 60 on the Samsung. It just boils down to personal preference I suppose. I have had Samsung's since mobiles began with a few exceptions. It's time for a change for me and the RAZR just caught my eye. What ever there faults I just like the RAZR. You like the Samsung. Let's just agree to differ on this one. 😂 Greetings from the UK.
Hey Liz, deff right with all you say as well. Im actually an IT professional and love the purer Android experiance on any phone. Great video 📷 the apps on the front screen of Samsung carnt they just up date them so you can have any app running of the front screen ,? Will that happen??
One important question bugs me as a user of Flip 4 - Does Flip 5 has same vulnerability with screen protector as Flip 4 device? I mean vulnerability when screen protector eventually starts to pill off screen and eventually leads to main display "break".
Probably still has same issue but Samsung already aware of this issue so they give you free screen protector for 1 year (if i'm not mistaken). I'll come back here again to let u know if my flip 5 has issue with screen protector after 1 year 😂
@@ejaa.D first - thanks for a reply. Second - my flip 4 started to pill off it's screen protector after nearly a year of flawless working. And alas in my country we have no true Samsung warranty. Only "certified dealers" which I don't trust (had enough of negative prior experience). So I'm with "clock ticking" and started to look for replacement, when my device will decide to go off with a screen. With almost gapless hinge if no dust comes in this issue might be finally resolved. But I have no year for this waiting :)
I just traded my flip 3 for my flip 5. Flip 3 had the same issue with the screen protector. It would start to peel and evenyually crack. I replaced it once but after the second one failed I just removed it. Since the phone is always folded in the pocket The screen is protected anyway. The last 18 months with the flip 3 and the screen was perfectly like new without the screen protector. With the addition of Goodlock on the Flip5 I find myself nearly never opening the phone so if the screen protector on the flip 5 eventially fails im not going to bother to replace it.

I've had the RAZR+ since it first hit the market and I am done with it. The quality is just not there, and it has several bugs that have not been fixed with an update. I am getting the Flip 5 for FREE tomorrow. I do not recommend the RAZR+. Not only does it not have much trade in value, but the cost does not match the quality. There are also no free promos for it. ATT had a $5/mo promo, so I went with it just to try something new besides the boring iPhone. Hopefully the Flip 5 won't disappoint me. If the RAZR+ wasn't $1,000, I could understand, but for that price, it's NOT worth it. It doesn't have the newest processor and the camera is noticeably lower quality. The keyboard on the external display covers the entire screen when you try to type something, so you can't see what you are typing until you minimize it. They tried to fix it by allowing you to resize it, but it also resizes the internal keyboard, so you will have to fix it every time you switch displays. Sometimes when I flip it closed, the app transfers automatically even though I have set it to ask first. This is very annoying. I'm ready to fling it! lol I will never buy a Motorola phone again. Now I need to figure out what to do with it. Maybe I'll sell it on eBay.
@luukvandervelden6661 Great! The Flip 5 has a much more premium feel and experience compared to the Razr+. I actually feel like Motorola strategically released the Razr+ before the Flip 5 hit the market because their sales would have been terrible if customers were able to compare the 2 before buying, especially since they're the same price. I've tossed the Razr+ in a drawer as a back up phone 😆
@shanerichardson8160 Razr+ outer screen has much more functionality, but it's kind of unstable. Flip 5 has only a few apps that are compatible on the cover screen, but they are apps that most people would use like messaging, Maps, and UA-cam. I personally don't want to have every app on the outer screen. I can open the phone to do that. I'm sure in future updates, Samsung will add more apps to the cover screen. Overall, the Flip 5 is much better, especially for the price.
@@92Sunshine I bought the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and love it! This message is being sent from the cover screen. For anyone reading this, Galaxy Store has the Good Lock app available and it allows you to add any app to the cover screen. I've been saying for years I wanted to go back to a flip phone, but I refuse to text the "old way" pressing the number 7 - 4 times to type an S lol. Very happy with this purchase. The battery life could be better, but still gives me a full day of use before needing charge. Ideally I shouldn't be on my phone that much anyway.

I just had a razr plus cute phone but doesn't withstand scrutiny when it comes to the overhyped display screen- The screen is not configured to most net sites so the screen ends up looking like a matchbox- its a novelty item a toy you can play with but gets old- In addition, the camera is atrocious pictures looke whited out and creepy very cheesy camera and the annoyance comes when you try to answer the phone while folded or close the phone while watching a video doesn't work- I had to get rid of it after 5 days very frustrating and then the issue if it drops the display screen cracks - Until the fold phones get better tech it's not worth1K at all- The camera on the 20245 razr looks like it could be better it's in a different place than 2023 but it probably still sucks
Seems as if Motorola really worked hard to get a good product out as a flagship. Samsung did it to compete and didn't go all out. If I were to buy either right now, I'd go with Motorola and wait until Samsung refined/upgrade the next one.
The samsung hinge is more stronger than moto..so moto byeee. Even Moto Outer screen can use all apps ..but just a waste if it’s body easily to break.. i choose the stronger one..
I got the midrange razr and it doesn't wobble like that. Don't sleep on the budget razr. If you just use your phone for work and just text and call customers and you need a phone to run without lag and something cool and a conversation starter then the basic razr is not a bad option if you get it for 99 bucks like I did. The camera on the cheaper one is OK too but just ok I give it a 7/10 cause no 60 frames at 4k and the pics come out good about 80 percent of the time. So yea 7/10 and when the light is low it does take a noticeable amount of time to capture which wouldn't bother me much if it did how my galaxy s22 did when it took a long time to take night photos which was come out with an insanely clear shot to where you can hardly tell it was pitch black outside. The moto takes a while then produces some pretty bullshit. Hahahaha but if you want a phone to keep you away from doom scrolling then the basic one is the best.
I never liked Samsungs UI/UX design but I've been a Pixel user for a awhile now should i go with the Razr+? it seems to have the standard android interface
On the same boat as you, perhaps this might help bc it sure as hell bugs me. The Flip cover screen has annoying limitations where Phone by Google (the phone app to call people), Google Wallet, and Gboard will not work on the cover screen. You are forced to use Samsung's phone, wallet, and keyboard.

I've never understood talk about updates. What exactly do users want updated frequently if it's not a software fix update? Most don't even know what the "update" is for because they don't read the details. 😮
@@mr.c6674 I actually do read about the security updates which are available this why my son calls me a nerd 🤓
I just bought the Razr .. thanks
Flip 5 is more sturdy, solid and durable.
I believe that the razr problems have been fixed, i also feel the need to add that motorola does have a special screen that seems to never break, meanwhile my samsung cracked easily. (Ive dropped them both from the same height onto a hard floor
This video help me pick the right phone and the comment section aswell
Was a hard choice but it came down to overall comparisons and based on most reviews I see the Motorola has hearing issues and after a month or 2 people say they has freezing issues which scares me so I’ll go with the flip 5 although the razr+ has a better putter display I’ll choose longevity and the better camera quality from Samsung
Flip 5 for lyfe dawg
am super excited with my flip 5 and enjoying with it
How's the battery back up.
Flip 5 is what I got 512gb Samsung exclusive Green
Samsung, hey, do the seamless app transition from small to big screen. Yes, every app should be accessible in small screen 😇
I cringe every time I see a reviewer flip the phone open like that. Just another indication that humans just don't understand technology. 😂
I'm sure the Motorola still gets like 2 years of OS support or something archaic. I think the Z Flip wins this battle on that alone
It's now 4 Years...
@@onemat2000 3 years of OS updates and that’s only for this phone model only. I usually don’t trust when companies don’t have a track record of having support. Usually the update comes late or never comes at all.
@@chrisa143 most consumers have their phone for about 3-4 years. The most used iPhone rn is the iPhone 8 and the most used Samsung is the Galaxy S9 series, people keep their phone for a while
@@superiortoall22 I agree. Samsung service was awful when many of us had screen protector issues. It took them months to say they would cover them under warranty, after people had to pay for a repair. The truth is many manufacturers avoid responsibility until people make a lot of noise. I love the Flip form factor so I went with Moto this time around. Both of the phones are really cool. Id be happy with either one for different reasons.
Motorola are the worst,I got just under 2 years on my 2020 razr then end of support,my 2022 which I still have is on Android 12 no one from Motorola support can even tell us on the Motorola forums when we will get a upgrade as fir the my ultra, people are complaining already about security patches still on May whilst July patch is out,I purchased a flip 5 got it yesterday at least samsung roll out updates in a timely manner, my sons flip3 is getting another os update to Android 14,this is why I will get rid of my razrs,if Motorola one day get better at support I might go back...
Unfortunately the Samsung is 300 bucks more than moto here in Australia so i went witt the razr

My flip 5 is running all the same apps i was running on my ultra only different can't continue from main screen to outer and press notifications and you can see then
I'm loving my razr. Didn't make a mistake ❤
How is the battery life?
Is there a lot of difference between Razr Plus and Razr 40 Ultra? Im looking to buy one based on this review
I think those are the same phone. Razr plus is what razr 40 ultra is called in the US.
Samsung is more reliable
@@GH0STST4RSCR34M Samsung had matured through the years. Compared to Motorola.
@GH0STST4RSCR34M Their warranty is better, and some tests showed that the hinge is more durable
Samsung Flip4 broke 3 times. I moved to the Razr.

My friend uses flip3 and never heard of her breaking her phone, I guess its you
I disagree. I have had nothing but good phones from Moto
Thinkin of trading razr plus pink edition for flip 5 just for the Samsung apps. Motorola is bare android
Excellent review. Very detailed
The Razr has dust protection but z flip doesn't.
ua-cam.com/video/-1UrHBVF_Gw/v-deo.html
what are u talking about
Lol you seen real world tests yet? I have
Honestly I wouldnt expose either to dust and water resistance is far more important.
Ive never had the chance to play with the razr but im sure most of the comments here are based on which phone everyone decided to purchase and we have experiance with. Lets Swap phones for a couple of weeks! 😉
Great video 📷 the apps on the front screen of Samsung carnt they just up date them so you can have any app running of the front screen ,? Will that happen??
Use good lock (app) for that one.
But I have no year for this waiting :)
screen protector is only 10 dollars from amazon. just change it then. thats what i did and it worked fine
@@rbroberts61 do you think replacement of a screen protector could do a better work than just removing old one?
Coolest phones out right now they’ll be gone by Xmas

razr 900 - 1000€
z flip 1300 - 1500€
big difference
Razr + all day.. So much better than the 5
I've had the RAZR+ since it first hit the market and I am done with it.
How is it?
@luukvandervelden6661 Great! The Flip 5 has a much more premium feel and experience compared to the Razr+. I actually feel like Motorola strategically released the Razr+ before the Flip 5 hit the market because their sales would have been terrible if customers were able to compare the 2 before buying, especially since they're the same price. I've tossed the Razr+ in a drawer as a back up phone 😆
I think I would like the usefulness of the outer screen. In your opinion how does Samsung compare to Motorola's outer screen for functionality?
I looooove my Z Flip 5 ❤
This phone is amazing. I have a magsafe case and have a badass Goku vs Broly animated live cover screen wallpaper.

ugh, again with being incorrect on the dust rating what is it with tech review sites. The Razr+ does have official IP dust ratting unlike the samsung.
Exact. The Razr+ is certified dust resistant.
Razr because of desktop mode.
Typing this on my new Motorola Razr Plus....... Enough said
Samsung is a true pioneer
Yeah, but i guess both suck in camera point without telephoto lens. Compared to fold series 😂
The clear winner is Motorola 🤩🏆
Camera quality, dont use your phone, use your DSLR or Point and shoot
Seems as if Motorola really worked hard to get a good product out as a flagship. Samsung did it to compete and didn't go all out.
If I were to buy either right now, I'd go with Motorola and wait until Samsung refined/upgrade the next one.
First four mins I like Motorola last two mins I like Samsung and then I decide both phones are useless 😂

every Samsung is better than a Motorola.... be real. No need for a video even.
Razr
I never liked Samsungs UI/UX design but I've been a Pixel user for a awhile now should i go with the Razr+? it seems to have the standard android interface
On the same boat as you, perhaps this might help bc it sure as hell bugs me. The Flip cover screen has annoying limitations where Phone by Google (the phone app to call people), Google Wallet, and Gboard will not work on the cover screen. You are forced to use Samsung's phone, wallet, and keyboard.
Wobble in the hinge is a hard pass. Motorola should take more notes from Samsung
