    Can’t beat the finish of a good old fashioned edging iron.
    Although I do like the look of the second piece of kit that was shown. It would be good for a neglected plot.

    Just used a power edger from the tool rental center. Almost like a ditch witch so it’s awesome on flat ground surfaces but if your boulevard strip has any bumps the blade cannot go deep enough. That reciprocating blade is a game changer. Need to get one

    Great video. I would add one option though - the E-Z Trench Bedscaper. It's similar to the Stihl powerhead in your video, but one that you can walk in front of and really focus on getting a straight line, or getting the right curve to your bed. Problem is they are difficult to find. I had to drive 35 minutes to rent one. It has an adjustable height so you can go deep (I went through 2 sprinkler lines - woops!).

    There's a lot of smartass people making unnecessary, ignorant comments towards this man that actually showed some very good ways that will make creating a nice new edged line between any surface and the ground from what I understood from the man so why not act like grown ups and show him some common courtesy and respect!!! He did a really good job of showing some technique and ways to make edging your property or someone else's easier and nicer looking, and he was only explaining and giving a quick demonstration also, not what ok need looks like when he's finished!!! Now troll yourself instead of others

      @@SilverCymbal you're welcome, I try not to say anything generally but you did do a good job of showing different edging blades I've never seen or heard of, plus you said it was only a demonstration, also just a little common sense should help others realize that. I was raised to show respect, and I was born with it in me to treat others with respect and be considerate. There's too much of everyone trying to bring each other down and I am to the point that I just can't take it anymore sometimes. I don't know where people get off thinking they know everything either, because the day any man or woman believes that they are a fool. I can't stand that saying, "Old Dogs Can't Learn New Tricks", it's complete bullshit and I for one try to learn something new everyday. I was a Master Toyota Technician for 16 years before my health caused me to start the process of being placed on disability but I would give anything to go back to work tomorrow and I still do as much as possible along with learning. But glad I could hopefully negate some of the ignorant comments being made, it's got to make it difficult to keep doing the videos sometimes when people are usually just upset with their own lives so they project on to others and no one deserves to be spoken to and treated like that. Keep doing what you're doing my friend and glad I could help hopefully a little

    Hi there, theses are all great tools, however my issue is that i have gravel meeting my lawn area and therefore I'm not sure if any of these would work as the gravel might break the string, or in the case of the other gadgets, the gravel would fly up and be quite dangerous, don't you think? • @SilverCymbal

      Yes, they clean the edge well but they don't really remove any material. I ended up finding that they are more useful for stone or concrete edging which can be a little time consuming with a string trimmer.

    Every time you show a close up of your grass blades I’m envious of how clean cut the tips are. I own a Honda push mower and I can’t get a clean cut. They’re shredded at the tip of each grass blade. I’ve tried sharpening my blades, buying new blades, and tried different cutting heights but nothing seems to help. It’s frustrating.

    HELP I’m not sure if you can help. I would like a suggestion on how to handle problem with a product you reviewed ( and used) on a video regarding battery operated sprayer. Even though you had experienced a problem with your sprayer (YT25E) the company replaced the sprayer immediately. I ordered the same sprayer because of the ease of operation.
    Well, It appears that the company needs quality control because my order was 2weeks late in delivery and did not contain the lithium battery in the box. Amazon does not carry the type of battery need for the sprayer

    How much abuse can the reciprocate take? I don't see many other videos on UA-cam where someone is just lodging it down into the soil like you are. If you wanted to go deeper, could you just keep cutting? Essentially it's a saw? I have at least 100' linear feet of live edge to maintain and the string trimmer alone makes it too laborious. Deciding between an edger or rotary scissors.

    • @SilverCymbal
      @SilverCymbal  8 місяців тому

      So after a few years with it, this and the power scissors is not fantastic. It does dull out in soil, its best used for pond side cutting since it doesn't throw clippings. Its been a while since this video and my favorite way to trim now is: ua-cam.com/video/Fqe1zPTSCVo/v-deo.html

    why are you going backwards? that's very strange to me. I don't think that is the correct way of edging. You have to know where you're going and keeping your lines straight. Sorry, but doing a demo that is incorrect is not very helpful. If your intent was to show difference in equipment, okay I get it. But otherwise bad information and technique not very helpful.

    • @SilverCymbal
      @SilverCymbal  5 років тому +1

      Great question. If you visit some of the pro sites this comes up. Some like to go forward others as backwards. Each feels as you do but there is no right or wrong answer. It’s personal preference

    • @newtonfoster7581
      @newtonfoster7581 5 років тому

      VJ, it's really simple, the arrow walking backwards has the lineup arrow ahead of the edger blade therefore it is much easier to keep the correct line than going forward because you can't see the blade so until you actually know something about what you are talking about have someone just see your stupid mouth shut!!!
